I'd be fine whipping up a printable flyer.

Just give me a list of things/details you want to be on the flyer, whether they be times, dates, quotes, whatever.

Will make it, but don't have pad again!

Housing arrangements has caused this bit of goofery.

:psyduck:

Might get there at around 2:10 or something. My ride is being silly.

I have some good news, some bad news and an important annoucement.

Bad News: You guys are offically kicked out of Taylor Hall, (because I left you guys unattented for awhile NOT YOUR GUYS' FAULT) due to my negligence.:gonk:

Good News: You guys aren't kicked from DeVry University. I can reserve classrooms for the weekend which are bigger, and alot more better than the MPR, but of course you have to KEEP THAT SHIT CLEAN.:kitty:

Annoucement: Someone left a black folder full of PS2 and Xbox 360 games here on the ping-pong table, If its yours send me a PM. I'm holding it for safe keeping.

But other than that, This ranbat was super hype, I played so many good people today, and I hope to meet you guys again in the future for some even more better brawls!

EDIT: YaR lied,He's fucking awesome at Guilty Gear, Your Dizzy puts on her rape face every match!

You might have made it back in time if you had FRC'd that Burrito Install.

I'm still willing to make that poster....

Its not even that I left you guys unattented, they're just hella anal about having people in the MPR now, since there was a group of people before me who used the MPR for a whoel month straight for a LAN party and never left it at all.

Next month is EVO, so I suggest we take a month long break and join in for a SUPER-HYPE ranbat at August. Also, it sucks that we can't use the MPR anymore, but I expected that coming sooner or later.

If we still decide to host the event at July, then I suggest we do it on July 24th. Instead of T6, we'll put BB in the roster. We might as well bite the bullet and try four games on the lineup...

CS/GG/MB seems like it would be perfectly doable. Though we might get quite a few more people in the room since there doesn't seem to be much overlap in CS tourney players and GG tourney players. (Let's fix that imo =P.) Might have trouble doing 2v2 tournies though. Then again, without a bunch of overlap in players, CS and GG should both run pretty smoothly.

We won't be hosting 2v2...but keep your hopes up for the team tournaments at the MINOR INSTALL! :3

Edit: I just got some SERIOUS news in and I have to cancel all future travel plans...this includes trying to run the MINOR install. Long story short, I'm in the red and I don't know if I'll make it out.

Regarding NORCAL MINOR INSTALL...

It was made apparent last weekend that we need to have some sort of streaming schedule. Not that it wasn't hype but due to Guilty Gear streaming most of their matches, the tournament took too long and also took longer than estimated. I was tired and starving by the time Melty Blood rolled around. Now at the minor, we're planning to have even more games? ie BLAZBLUE which takes considerably more time than other games?

Posted

We could do a few things with streaming...

1) Get more equipment and have up to 3 separate streams. This would be pretty hard for viewers to follow online so I'm not really fond of the idea.

2) Only stream winner/loser semi-finals and finals. It would be good to have recording equipment to get the rest of the ranbat online, but focus the streaming on what is important. Schedule the games at different hours to start at so we keep a good flow.

3) Don't stream at all. Just record. Less hype but easy to manage.

Okay, so I managed to sort out my money issues. I was in panic mode when I was posting, but I came to my senses and worked something out.

***

The past seven ranbats were meant to assess our tournament management abilities. This is what we've managed to tell others about our community. So feel free to constructively troll. If you do, then I'll sit back on my chair and laugh at you ;D:

Pros:

- Derrick says, "I believe that the GG/BB/MB communities are way smaller than the Tekken community, but there's always something happening."

- We are consistent. You can always guarantee a double digit turnout.

- We excel at micromanagement. There is always someone, somewhere, that knows how to fix a problem before it blows out of proportion.

- We are one of the most amiable group of FGers <3. WE LOVE YOU LOLI JIANG. :3 Everybody is a team player and I can always count on you guys to watch my back n' vice-versa. I, rarely, heard of complaints...and when I do, it has nothing to do with whole community. Even the DeVry guys appreciate how we respect their space.

Cons:

- We lack some, serious, organization. Nobody knows what to get done and, more importantly, how to get tournaments done in a timely fashion (WE NEED FRED BACK)! Even if they do, then we have to wait till hell freezes over to get something started.

- We are so amiable to the point where we let flakers and late-shows, or no-shows, control our tournament. No offense to AJ and Qwerty, you guys contribute more to the scene than most people I know. But if people are complaining about tournaments going late, then we need to start manning it up n' get stuff done.

Overall consensus:

- As long as there's a venue, there will always be HYPE. We need structure and we need Fred's feedback. The last thing we want is another Triple Troll.

***

Dakanya: The only reasons why tournaments go longer than expected is because of following reasons:

- Lack of organization:

There are a lot of variables that made the tournament go till past 9. But this is, largely, due to people who are trying to run the brackets. We HAVE the setups and the staff; they're just streamed on one setup. In NorCal MINOR Install, we won't stream every match. On the contrary, GG/MB will - more than likely - not be streamed at all. This means that the people hosting the tournament can, simply, focus on managing the brackets on four setups. Assuming you have four setups, you can breeze through a 32 man bracket in 3 hours.

- People are too nice:

I love nice people and everybody wants to be around those who won't scream at you. But keep in mind that we're running a 32 man bracket in less than six hours. If you wait for people to show up late, then don't expect to start on time. You HAVE to play the bad guy and tell people, "I'm sorry that you're late, but you cannot enter the tournament."

I just had a crazy thought oh how to improve organization, we should have one person responsible for a given tournament... and that person will not play in any tournaments! the person running the tourny should also not be commentating, or anything else... just running the tourny.

I know that sounds crazy, but it might make life a lot easier, we could rotate the man out, and I volunteer for the job at the next ranbat.

Another few ideas to improve organization.

-Post the brackets some where so every one can see.

-Post up the people who are currently playing and the people who are on "up next"

snip

With the setups you could always run one game on all the setups until it gets to top 8 and then you stream that and let the other remaining setups go to the following game so that by the time top 8 for game 1 finishes game 2 top 8 should be good to go. Just repeat that for every game you should be hosting and it could be done fast. This is assuming of course that you go with the game that will take the longest to get done first with the quicker smaller ones being done last.

In terms of people being late and all if they are knowingly signing up for a tourny yet they are going to be late you could postpone their match until you can't and just send them into losers or knock them out all together.

As for setups (Stop hijacking them when we need them!!!!!!).

Hey, its trashy ino, just like to say thanks for hosting the event had a blast playing tournament and casuals with everyone. It's too bad about the 2v2, but still had a lot of fun and I learned a lot. Definitely hope to step up my game next time.

Shout outs to to everyone I played, sorry, still new and I don't quite know everyone's name to dustloop handle. Big thanks to Tsubasa (?) who brought that amazing box of tools, and to everyone who lent me a stick to play. Sorry if my technical troubles was slowing things down. Ray, I think, with his dizzy knocking me out of the ranbat, and for punishing every stupid random dive I did, big thanks. Honnou, for curbstomping me repeatedly in casuals and on stream. Learned a lot on how to improve my mixup by playing you, I'll be sure to hit-confirm my combos better next time too. Oiboi, are you the one with the chest tats playing bridget and zappa? Shining Aquas, are you the one mauling me with Anji during casuals after ranbat? I'll be sure to study up on that matchup. Good game all, hope to see you at the next ranbat, or maybe sooner if someone is hosting casuals.

Just fyi, I'm usually the guy that doesn't play and runs the tournament. Actually, no, that's not true. But having a designated person run tournaments is not a bad idea. The problem is when the person who runs the bracket sits in a chair and scratches his ass. What's even worse is if people starts picking their arse and use tournament setups for casuals. The worst case scenario is when tournament players LET IT HAPPEN WITHOUT QUESTION! The only thing that'll make it worse is if BLANKA707 steals your money while Triple Troll tries to check your pre-reg status on their iPhones. We are not a goods and service McDonalds drive through. We are a group of casual/tournament FG competitors looking for a HYPE session.

Running brackets are a lot harder than it looks for more reasons than I can count dolphin spam. For one:

- You must be multi-task oriented.

- You have be able to manage multiple setups and rotate matches in a timely fashion. This includes kicking people off of ST casuals and Doctor Mario.

If you want to run a successful tournament, then empower the players to take charge of their setups! If you see a tourney setup being used for casuals, then find the balls to KICK THEM OFF. And if you do, then USE IT! This shouldn't be the responsibility of the person running the bracket, but everyone participating in the competition.

Edit: For the next ranbat, AKA NorCal 'MINOR' Install, everything will start at the time posted - no exception. We are adding Blazblue into the scheme of things, so BE PREPAR~~~~~ED!

Since we're adding BB into this for the next one, should we have some people bring 360 versions as well in case there is anyone(Like myself) who has 360 game and stick?? I pray I'm not the only BB player who will be going to this who doesn't have PS3 :v:

That's up for grabs, but I'm leaning towards the PS3.

Crap...Well then do they make 360->PS3 converters?? Actually I have a sneaking suspicion they don't :vbang:

Well then I may need to borrow a stick from someone at the ranbat assuming I can't get one of my friend's sticks for the day...Or learn PS3 pad. Shouldn't be too hard since I can play 360 pad like its nothing.
