Kijiyama Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Hey, its trashy ino, just like to say thanks for hosting the event had a blast playing tournament and casuals with everyone. It's too bad about the 2v2, but still had a lot of fun and I learned a lot. Definitely hope to step up my game next time. Shout outs to to everyone I played, sorry, still new and I don't quite know everyone's name to dustloop handle. Big thanks to Tsubasa (?) who brought that amazing box of tools, and to everyone who lent me a stick to play. Sorry if my technical troubles was slowing things down. Ray, I think, with his dizzy knocking me out of the ranbat, and for punishing every stupid random dive I did, big thanks. Honnou, for curbstomping me repeatedly in casuals and on stream. Learned a lot on how to improve my mixup by playing you, I'll be sure to hit-confirm my combos better next time too. Oiboi, are you the one with the chest tats playing bridget and zappa? Shining Aquas, are you the one mauling me with Anji during casuals after ranbat? I'll be sure to study up on that matchup. Good game all, hope to see you at the next ranbat, or maybe sooner if someone is hosting casuals. Oiboi didn't show up to the ranbat so it wasn't his that you were playing.
gomi-ino Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Oiboi didn't show up to the ranbat so it wasn't his that you were playing. Oh, sorry about that then. I'm so bad with names... I think KatanaDash's idea of posting the brackets for everyone to see would help organization a lot. Also, were any of the streamed matches recorded on upstream or livestream?
qwerty Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 Now at the minor, we're planning to have even more games? ie BLAZBLUE which takes considerably more time than other games? hey, keep this on the downlow, but we have a secret weapon... Crap...Well then do they make 360->PS3 converters?? Actually I have a sneaking suspicion they don't Well then I may need to borrow a stick from someone at the ranbat assuming I can't get one of my friend's sticks for the day...Or learn PS3 pad. Shouldn't be too hard since I can play 360 pad like its nothing. i'll bring my 360 setup at least for casuals, along with the ps2 -> 360 converters. if you end up needing a stick for ps3, i'll just let you borrow mine.
qwerty Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 oh, and re: people showing up late: part of the reason we're so lax about it is because there's so few people playing to begin with. without say, three or four people, the tournament suffers that much more (26 man bracket > 22 man, for many reasons). i wouldn't be opposed to latecomers having to buy a spot in losers though. actually, that's probably the best solution.
qwerty Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 oh yeah, and if this is true, i would like to see if we could get it a regular spot in our ranbats.
Oiboi Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Oh, sorry about that then. I'm so bad with names... I think KatanaDash's idea of posting the brackets for everyone to see would help organization a lot. Also, were any of the streamed matches recorded on upstream or livestream? LOL Chesttats. I'll def try to make it to the next one, if my pads ready. My hand is still recovering from my surgery, but I was hella stomping Qwerty the other day (SUP BITCH). You'll know which one is me cuz I'm the only guy whose got the balls to get fucking hype up in this bitch.
hairremoval Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I can also drive people but only for GG:AC or anything not BB.
OrionXElite Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Once BBCS gets put into this, I'll be able to give rides to 2 people so long as they don't bring TVs. Consoles and sticks and stuff like that will fit in my car, but unless its a puny TV, it won't fit very easily. Mustangs don't allow for lots of cargo room. But for BBCS, mark me down for rides from the Cupertino area(willing to travel a little bit to get people if needed) for 2 people. Metalheads get priority!!! EDIT: I got a new PS2 and so far its working. I'm gonna test its endurance with a little FFIX marathon until the NorCal BBCS ranbat Saturday but assuming all is well with it, you can add back my PS2/GGAC+ setup and throw in my 360/BBCS setup once that hits consoles.
STenSatsu Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 1st: Rod/magz 2nd:the other 3rd:tenkai I'm sure =P
Honnou Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 4th: ernest 5th or so: John Tenkai Connor I was curious about the WHOLE list though.
Kijiyama Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 From TS: When AJ decides to get his laptop he'll give you the results, otherwise gonna have to guess where people were.
TaoFTW Posted June 14, 2010 Author Posted June 14, 2010 Okay guys! NEW UPDATE on our Ranbat status. Due to EVO, and plans for other events to come, I suggest we take a breather in the month of July. What I want to do is take this month to setup for a huge LAIKE XBOX tournament in August. You heard me, "NORCAL 'MINOR' INSTALL!" Get HYPED! IF we decide to host the minor, then it'll be at DeVry University's classroom - courtesy of GammaGearJustice. You, my good sir, saved our NorCal scene AND brought in fresh blood to the community. Thanks a bunch! I'll buy you some CHEEZBURGER! Rod, I will buy you In-n-out meal for being an awesome guy. As for Ernest and QWERTY Alex, I'll buy you a pack of MORTON SALT SHAKERS! If Ray can reserve the room for us, then here's our tentative schedule for August 7th. Alex, I'm going to be posting your PM. Everyone here has a right to know what's happening. Those are some good points all around, but I've been trying to find a venue for over three months. Right now, I'm trying my best to find a hotel. I - might - have a chance with The Country Inn and Suites & I'm looking at the Cupertino city community center. But that means I'm going to charge $7-$10 for the venue. A high priced venue combined with a mediocre pot won't encourage a high turnout. So please feel free on sharing your thoughts for a good n' spacious venue. I'm 100% down for slimming the roster. Considering how the Tekken events conflict with our tournaments, and how Derrick was the only other tekken player who showed up to our previous ranbat, I believe it is in our best interest to drop the game from our lineup. IF we decide to put T6 in the lineup, then we'll only be hosting BB, T6, MB, and GG. Nothing more or less. Therefore, here are my plans for the August 'Minor' ranbat: BBCS (Singles, 5v5 NorCal v. SoCal exhibition) T6 (Singles, 5v5 NorCal v. SoCal exhibition) MBAA (Singles, 5v5 NorCal v. SoCal exhibition) GGAC (Singles, 5v5 NorCal v. SoCal exhibition) 8am - 9am: Station setups 9am - 10am: Registration 10am - 11am: Organizing brackets/Casual play Tournament 11am - 5pm: BBCS 11am - 5pm: T6 3pm - 9pm: GGAC 3pm - 9pm: MBAA Exhibition Matches 6pm - 7pm: BBCS NorCal v. SoCal exhibition 7pm - 8pm: T6 NorCal v. SoCal exhibition 8pm - 9pm: GGAC NorCal v. SoCal exhibition 9pm - 10pm: MBAA NorCal v. SoCal exhibition I would like to keep MB on the roster just because the community has always been a positive influence in the GG scene. There are plenty of people who play both GG and MB. The previous ranbat had 6 people who entered both BB & GG...and MB had an 11 person turnout. Adding team tournaments is not out of the question, but that will only work if we can breeze through the singles. The only other pressing issue is the DATE! D: I only put the registration up on the 7th, but that's bound to fall through. Your feedback will be much appreciated. Also, with your permission, I would like to post this in the NorCal threads. Peace!
OrionXElite Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 OH for the CS 5v5 NorCal vs SoCal match, I wanna be part of the NorCal team!! Also GammaGear, you are a good man for giving us the venue the Minor! What will be necessary in the way of setups??
TaoFTW Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 I have some terrible news. Our gentlemen, GammaGear, won't be going to Devry anymore, thus, he we won't have a place to host ranbats in the near future. We are now back to square one...which means I have to start visiting hotels again. @_@

TaoFTW Posted June 19, 2010 Author Posted June 19, 2010 Hey, let's check up at SJSU, okay? I think it might be worth it to give that a shot. Just FYI, we are banned from SJSU. Long story short, the staff got fed up after people started bringing in console setups. Send me a PM for your thoughts. Sorry I couldn't get back to you on Friday. I was hanging out with PNW n' such. :3
