qwerty Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Real men don't option select. Real men mash HS and get insta-killed when the HS whiffs. All or nothing man! **fist**bump**
TaoFTW Posted July 21, 2010 Author Posted July 21, 2010 Well its been a while but I think I can come down from Oregon again for some melty and bring one or two of the local GG/MB players with me, as long as the tournament is the weekend of the 24th or later. I gotta agree with most of the other guys here, 5 PM sounds like major anti-hype. If delaying the tourney a week or two would let us roll till a normal time of like 8 or 9 PM that would probably be worth it, imo at least. Yeah, I'm working on that. :< So I finally got that job install, but I'm working weekend nights. I asked for August 7 off in advance for the minor but now it sounds like that isn't happening (or at least corfirmed). What's going on? Berkeley? Yeah, August 7th is no longer the date for the minor. It'll either be on the last Saturday of August or the first Saturday of September. We are also likely to go to Berkeley Wow, so it seems that a thread that originally had nothing to do with BB now has something going on. I COULD read through 75 pages and figure out what I missed, but I'm lazy. What's going on? Venue? When/where? After the American console release, BBCS will make it's debut in our NorCal Fighting Game Minor. Exactly how much extra are we talking about? $165 for two days So, has anyone contacted eudemonia yet? Or are we just defaulting to SJSU? Unless we can get longer hours at SJSU and a cheaper deal, it is more than likely we are going to EU. I sent the management an email, but I have yet to hear back from them. :< Edit: I don't care what happens, but AH3 is going to be in these tournaments...whether you like it or not! >:3
ehuangsan Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 $165 for two days Wait...that's it? To stay overtime each day would just be $165 extra total?! How long can we hold the room for?
TaoFTW Posted July 21, 2010 Author Posted July 21, 2010 Wait...that's it? To stay overtime each day would just be $165 extra total?! How long can we hold the room for? 165 for reserving two days plus $X for overtime.
ehuangsan Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 165 for reserving two days plus $X for overtime. That's my question, what would X be?

In any event, yes, I'll try to bug them in the shop ASAP. EDIT: Oh, here, they have a phone number: (510) 883-0814‎ Yeah, people call the place all the time (to check on their kids or something).
TaoFTW Posted July 21, 2010 Author Posted July 21, 2010 That's my question, what would X be? No clue. Chun is trying to find out all the details.
Snozzwangler Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I will also look into it. How many people do we expect to show up anyway? And what days/times do we want?
Shining Aquas Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Edit: I don't care what happens, but AH3 is going to be in these tournaments...whether you like it or not! >:3 :8/::8/: Bwo shit, what? Gotta practice AH1 Fiona, quick.
Chun Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 That's my question, what would X be? X is the rate of 75$ an hour after closing hours. So a rough guess of 9 PM or 8 PM tournament finishes at an assumed 5PM, if we reserve two days it'd be 225$ for 3 hours overtime. Otherwise a normal hours rate + 225 for Saturday till 8 PM. Also, Tao where did you get 165$, is that the current rate right now? According to my research it's 100$ a day, so it'd be 200$ for two days. When the school year resumes its normal schedule, the Student Union to my knowledge will be open till at least 9 PM on a Friday; most club meetings had that kind of hour. WE ALSO HAVE THE POSSIBILITY WE WILL NOT BE CHARGED AT ALL FOR THE ROOM DURING NORMAL SCHOOL HOURS UNDER THE GAME DEVELOPMENT CLUB. So Summary for SJSU: if (venue IS AFTER August 25) { Friday = 100$; //This actually could possibly BE FREE, SINCE STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS ARE NOT CHARGED FOR USAGE OF THE ROOMS AS IS. Saturday = 100$; //HOURS PENDING Cost = Friday + Saturday; if (venue IS AFTER Closing Hours of SU) { Cost += (Every Hour x 75$) } else { }//Need to finish talks with SJSU ~Chun
RinHara5aki Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 But like.. 5 pm closing time is horrible. Seriously./ EDIT This is dacid
Chun Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 But like.. 5 pm closing time is horrible. Seriously./ EDIT This is dacid I'm saying 5 PM might not be the time SU closes in September, during the normal school year. I'm checking with the office tomorrow morning. Also Side Note: Tao, where am I supposed to be posting information? I keep seeing Berkeley info in the Norcal thread and I keep posting my info here.

Qaenyin Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 So I talked to my friends in the Portland scene and it looks like they can't go on August 28th. I can still but it'd be a lot more expensive to do room and board without splitting it with someone, so +1 thumbs up for Sept 4th. Not sure which would be easier for everyone else, I know that PAX is that weekend so for most people it may be easier to do the 28th instead.
dklreviews Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Okay, just got off the phone with Eudemonia's owner (Dean): Tao, expect him to contact you tonight. He said he'd be happy to host the event, but one of the main things he needs right now is for a REPRESENTATIVE from the organizing team to drop by the shop and decide on what they need the shop to accommodate the event with... so, uh, yeah... have a tech expert drop by within the next few days or week in order to ascertain what's going to be needed (presumably after you talk to Dean and set up a meeting); Dean doesn't want a scenario where you guys just show up with a ton of gear the day before or on the day of the event, but then he didn't have stuff to accommodate it in advanced. So, yes, good stuff guys.

So, yes, good stuff guys. Not in direct address to you, DKL, but I'm quoting you just to remind Taoftw. John, be sure to talk to Haunts too before someone (I would assume you), goes to the venue to speak to the owner personally. Streaming equipment is definitely one thing that needs to be checked there. Aka, just let them know we will bring x and y and tell them as long as Z condition is met, there will be no problem. Pretty much from what I know, all that's needed is room and an upload connection that's 700 kb/s at minimum. I'm sure it's all covered, but just double check with Haunts before you go.
dklreviews Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Oh, one last thing that might help people in the future (in the event that the thing with EU goes through), I don't know how, but I found a comprehensive PARKING guide for Berkeley (conveniently catered to google maps): PARKING. In the link is various spaces and information; while the price rates aren't there, you can get the contact numbers, closing times and such (interestingly, many places close at midnight; this means that people have a lot of time to get their cars out and relocate in the event that they need to stay in Berkeley longer). So, yeah, that's all from me for now.
RinHara5aki Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Alright, If we are still looking for Norcal vs. SoCal 5v5 post-SBO quals at NorCal HitConfirm! that Coopa was instigating, and people are serious, I'm going to make a new event thread to start it. How much hype is there in this? And is this possible? Me personally, I think its sounds AWESOME. Input?
OrionXElite Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 YES WE MUST HAVE THE 5v5's!!! As for where or when...Well I dunno, I'd say just make it easy and have one last ranbat at SVGL for the spots.
TaoFTW Posted July 23, 2010 Author Posted July 23, 2010 I'm happy to know that we've hitconfirmed the venue. All that's left is the date. Here are the following dates that we can do the gig: - August 28th - September 4th - October 2nd Also, I went to EU yesterday. I was hoping to meet Dean, but there wasn't anybody to help give me tour around the place. :< But yeah, I'll be there again on one of my off days next week. I am down for a 5v5 exhibition match, but if we do that, then I would rather split it to a 2-day event.

If at all possible, try hitting the place on Saturday night some time; me and the Street Fighter crew are there until 10PM. That aside, did you set up like a formal meeting time with Dean? It's strange as he seems to be in the shop during random times; your best bet is to set an appointment or something. ANYWAY, I'm very happy this is going through; good stuff guys.
Dacidbro Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I think a 2 day event would be more inspiration for people to travel anyway, imho, thus more hype, and more good times. o:
Qaenyin Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I can't be around after Sept, so it'd have to be either last weekend of aug or first weekend of sept for me. I'm cool with either but I'd prefer sept.

But before I make the thread... when IS NorCal minor? o-o... I dont even know the date of this. The dates you posted were for NorCal Install right? Dean is not there often, which is strange being that he's the manager. Did you get a feel for the size of the place? Not bad right?

He was hoping for us to make it on October. So go ahead and make the HitConfirm thread with the date TBA. Make a poll, or something, so people can vote for the best time. Make the deadline by July 30th.
