Dakanya Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I have secured a venue for the next ranbat, here are the details so far. There will be more to come. Also are we set for April 3 or are we going to have to reschedule because of WCW2? Where: Hayward (details later) What we will have: photographer (amateur with nice equip) flyers, logo (can I get some ideas?) shirts & stickers (free prizes for top3) bbq (rain or shine) 3s (astro cab) 30+ chairs 1 tv and slim ps2 already at the venue room for 40 people internet (should be suitable for streaming, hopefully) Conditions: a venue fee (undecided but not more than $5) prereg (we will close the doors at 40 people, front door reg will be avail) I understand that a lot of this is mad luxury but the party hosting for us also wants to promote their services and build up cred.
Digital Watches Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Dddddamn. You make me almost want to make the trip again. Like genuinely considering it. Seriously.
Dakanya Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 update. we may have a head-to-head GGAC astro city cab with sanwa for the venue as long as people are willing to pop in 25c a play.
TaoFTW Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 YEAH! Let's start putting in the high-roller venues DURING THE MOST BUSIEST TIME OF THE YEAR FOR ME! :emo:
Dakanya Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 you should come anyways if things go well this could become a regular thing :D
TaoFTW Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 The Nor Cal ranbat is a regular thing now. I'm just glad that there's other people who are taking initiative. :3
Dakanya Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 now it's becoming an even bigger thing despite colliding with WCW2, we're probably going to have this on April 3 anyways unless an alternative is provided... it seems that none of us who participate in Norcal Install are going to WCW2. also if we were to move this to Apr 10, we would then collide with the 2v2 BBCS @SVGL.
magz Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 update. we may have a head-to-head GGAC astro city cab with sanwa for the venue as long as people are willing to pop in 25c a play. ubestnotbtorlan.
Dakanya Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 ubestnotbtorlan. i need serious responses for this to actually happen but i understand how people feel about paying to play at a ranbat
KatanaDash Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I'm okay with actual cabinet that costs 25c provided: -we can still run all our standard free set ups, because other wise we only have one set up and no casuals and the tourny will take forever. it would also be a huge plus if we could stream from the cabinets, but I don't think that is likely... Really I think it is cool to have the setup, as long as it doesn't come with extra baggage, which is most likely does.
Dakanya Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 yeah this is just gonna be an additional setup, no strings attached besides the 25c. if there's enough interest to have it at the ranbat, it will be purchased and setup for the event.
Honnou Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 25 cents is dirt cheap, rounds should be 3/5 if possible but 2/3 is still a great deal. I want it there and ideally it'd be great to have a tourney run off of the cab if possible BUT keep in mind thats probably a bad idea cos console gg runs 4 frames faster than arcade ver. (i kno wut??) I would still like it there nevertheless. Great job @ securing another venue. If you guys ever come short, I'll try to make my home open for one, BUT that can be hard on my roomies and less spacious than what we've come up with so far.
Dakanya Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 so console runs at 64fps? wat. i've never heard of that before, good to know

Yggjrasil Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I think you guys could use the MPR again if you want, just as long as you dont move the ping-pong table.
TaoFTW Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 So, what's the deal now dakanya? Is the next ranbat with a console setup + ggac + bbq? :o I'm still confused. Care to give me some clarification? I think you guys could use the MPR again if you want, just as long as you dont move the ping-pong table. MPR might happen again in the near future, but I want to find a venue that will be - consistently - available 24/7. MPR has a lot of chairs and there were some eateries nearby, but the reality is that the school won't be available throughout the year. Even if it is, you won't be around - everyday of every month - to continue to secure the venue. Since there were a lot of people showing up from the east bay, I would like to move around and build the scene.
TaoFTW Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 Okay, I need to know what's happening in April. What's the venue? Where is it? Is it Pre-Reg only? What time will the venue be open? How much is it? And how soon does people need to know this info? >:3
Oiboi Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I'm SO MAJORLY DOWN for April shit. My bdays on the 28th. Get hype. The sooner the better, but probably at least 3 weeks in advance should be sufficient. Before April rolls around is best, I'm assuming. I don't know the area well enough to suggest venues though.
Dakanya Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 I'm still waiting for a response from our benefactor and I will be taking off tomorrow for Burnt Toast 2. Sit tight.
Dakanya Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Stay hype, the venue is still happening. Sorry for my recent absence and the lack of updates. The venue is at Hayward and the area we're using is in a commercial complex so there will be ample parking. The address is 30997 Huntwood Ave #108, Hayward, CA. There will be prereg for a guest list and I'll construct a system for it or handle it manually but no one's getting paid to sit at the door all day and we will be closing the doors at 40 people so I stress that people show up early... the venue fee will be $4 and after 2pm it'll be $5 and you might have to call someone to get in. Of course we'll still be open to people who don't prereg provided that we have enough space. About the cab, sorry but we weren't able to find the GD-ROM for sale, maybe for next ranbat if we have it at Hayward again. For now we'll put 3S on the Astro City, free play. I haven't had the chance to inspect the venue due to some unforeseen circumstances that happened when I went to visit on Sunday so I'll go again next weekend to find out what the situation exactly is but I think the primary concern will be extension cards. We will have plenty of chairs and there should be enough table space. I'm thinking we'll open the venue at 12, maybe 11 (or at least we'll be there to setup and take venue fees manually), still more to work out. Anyways I am leaving for Burnt Toast in a couple of hours so there will be more details to come!
Digital Watches Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Yeah, the FPS figures are completely untrue. I've definitely experienced lag difficulties in things running even two frames slower, and had no trouble on an arcade cab. There's occasional slowdown because the hardware sometimes has trouble with lots of stuff on the screen, but the game in general runs at the same speed as the console.
TaoFTW Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 Mr. Dakanya...Do you have the site up for pre-reg? :o
Dakanya Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 I could make a site... or I could be really ghetto and everyone could send me a PM on Dustloop?? :D EDIT: PMs don't sound bad either just because it takes out the dubious factor of authenticity out of the way...
TaoFTW Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 I would put up a ghetto site. We have people, that are coming, who don't post on DL or MB.
