Fraga Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Scared money don't make money. If you're going to win then come take an early loan. Come later you'll be donating to my cause. I'd be busy winning that money if I did join. I even confided with Mindgam3 over this, can't spend too much money. Why don't you come down to Vernon at some point, I'd love to have some Ranking Battle matches with you then I wish I could make it, but I'll be going to Vernon instead to continue running the tournaments.
Mindgam3 Posted February 3, 2010 Author Posted February 3, 2010 I would like to remind everyone that this convention is absolutely and quite literally FREE OF CHARGE. You just need to register, get your badge, and you'll be all set. The only thing that will cost money in terms of registration will be my tournaments. Speaking of which, I'm contemplating setting all entry fee's to $5, and then playing by ear as to whether people would like it raised (to a maximum of $10) in order to make the pot larger. Nerdjosh, are you going to make it? I was assuming that you weren't...since you haven't said anything to prove me otherwise. I really wish I had a solid idea of what the turnout for SFIV would be like, but nearly no one has posted on SRK. I would go, but I'm not very good. I just got back into player BlazBlue after a month. T_T You can only get better by playing more people! Even if you get double-eliminated, there's always something you can learn from the experience.
NerdJosh Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I'm still having words with people.. I figured it was next week for some odd reason(skip valentines day for games? SURE!) but for some reason this is a stationary weekend and people don't want to move I have no idea why... :\ oh yeah hog skins and potato skins. Sucks that all these venues are nowhere near 95, makes it twice as hard to find a ride.
Mindgam3 Posted February 3, 2010 Author Posted February 3, 2010 hog skins and potato skins. DAMN YOU SUPER BOWL!!!!!!!

Well we discussed this over the phone at least, that my primary concern was spending the my money on the Dealer's Hall, Gas, and food. Good news however, I talked to Mindgam3 earlier today and I'll be heading up on Saturday after I host Friday's Vernon tournament. I'll probably be helping him instead of playing games, so I restrict m money use. But if anyone wants I'll try to get some casuals in. My situation: tl;dr LOL DRAMA
Vigilante Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Are the tourney's free or are all of them asking for a tourney fee?
Mindgam3 Posted February 4, 2010 Author Posted February 4, 2010 The tournaments are not free, but the registration for the convention is free. Speaking of which, all tournaments are now $5.
Vigilante Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 I can assume I can register on Sat. with no issues right?

NerdJosh Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Maybe ask Marlinpie/Quotes if they can give you a lift. I called Marlin and he texted me but never called me back..
Vyers Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 I called Marlin and he texted me but never called me back.. Try calling again
NerdJosh Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Try calling again He doesn't love me anymore...
Mindgam3 Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 I can assume I can register on Sat. with no issues right? Absolutely. You have assumed correctly. I just learned that Battlegrounds is actually going to be furnishing our game room with some setups, which is neat. I also learned that there will be free wings at the Union due to our weekly "Late Night" event that is run by the Student Government. Might I remind everyone that this convention is free of charge, and I certainly wouldn't be opposed to running side tournaments...
Vyers Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Well, I'm heading out now, probably won't arrive at UConn till 2:00 since I'm leaving later than planned. I'll see everyone at UConn (Battlegrounds tonight)
agp24 Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Rep MBAA as much as possible, guys! I'd say rep GG too, but this is Dustloop. That's required. :D
Fraga Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Yes, Rep MBAA, we're growing bigger and we need all the support we can get! I'll be there sometime Saturday to at least watch, maybe get casuals in
so moe kona Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Looks like I'll actually be down for this shit. Count me for an SF4 and a GG setup. Unfortunately no TV. Also, if Shizu is coming, put him down for a Tekken 6 setup.
Fraga Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Well that was fun, 20 minute Rufus got into LUNATIC MODO but what can I do. GGs all and it was fun
Vyers Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Uconn was good times. I will (hopefully) be back next year Vierge: Kudos on spending way to much time working the front desk and running various events. I didn't realize you were cosplaying Yuki the Uconn mascot until Saturday afternoon, it was well done. Mindgam3: Thanks for running the tournaments, and letting me crash for the night. Those double doors with the dividers were complete bullshit, and whoever is responsible should die in a fire. Use more teleports in your okizeme. Chrono Trigger is too good. I'll see you at Anime Boston. Fraga: Thanks for running the brackets, and entertaining me with real life Final Atomic Buster, and broken Mugen characters. William/ That May player whose name I kept forgetting: My memory is made of fail:vbang: I will endure to recall yours when next we meet. Good Shit in GGAC our match was insanely close that last round could have gone either way. You're better than you give yourself credit for. All you really need is dolphin loop, and you'll have a scary May. Nazgul: I finally beat you after losing the last several matches we've had. Thanks for recording my match against MarlinPie, I'm sorry I couldn't keep my hands steady while I was recording yours (to tired to keep them still). I hope my tech mix up lesson will be of use to you. MarlinPie: You definitely went easy on me our first match. I barely pulled one win off you during the grand finals. It was a blast to meet you there; I've never had the honor. The only thing I can say in my defense is I don't know how to fight Venom (not that that really matters since you already had 5 wins against me at that point). Still I was taking rounds here and there and many of the ones I lost were close; so I feel that I've gotten closer to your level. Hopefully you can make it out to Final Round, I would consider driving with you if I could take an extra two days off. blueNINE: Finish your stick so you stop accidentally SJing. Zoob: You should do a youtube video of your Slayer Impersonations, I nearly died of laughter.
Mindgam3 Posted February 8, 2010 Author Posted February 8, 2010 I'd like to personally thank everyone who managed to make it out to UCon@UConn. Without your support, it simply wouldn't have happened. I'm just ecstatic that I managed to bring top NE players together to create tournaments that were not free to any one party. I hope to amass an army of CRT's by next year so we don't have to run a double-elimination 22-man SSFIV tournament on 3 CRT's. Zoob: You're welcome anytime you need a place to stay. I'm sorry you had to leave before Tekken started, I knew how much you were looking forward to that. Vyers: It's not just my teleport-okizeme that needs work...I have to learn to be just as relentless with my mix-up as Marlin was eagerly displaying. I also need to work on recognizing more situations when I can go for the 5H-rebounce-manly-chest-hair rape. Marlin: Keep being beastly and at the same time educational. Enjoy your fight money. BlueNine: Build your stick so you can stop making excuses. Nazgul: I hope your energy was used in a most efficient manner. Zoob Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 I feel mad loved, no homo. Yeah, totally bummer that I missed T6. I wanted my matches with Mr. Quotes. My damn firewire cord was in the bag I lost at Uconn, so I have to get a replacement. Look for stuff posted up within the next few days on seriouscasuals.
