Slavi Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I have a question. Since 2008 SBO will include Hokuto No Ken discipline once again, I guess that means that some people that used to play the game, or maybe some new once will be interested to read some stuff about it. I know that this forum used to have a HnK section, I am not asking to put it back on, I just want to know if there is some kind of archive or back up for the HnK threads. The particular thing that interests me is the original button layout for the jp arcades.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Uhm, it's still there. Button layout is: P HP S K HK
4r5 Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Online Games forum needs some sort of Installation and Setup sticky. Or, at the least, a tech help thread. I'm still getting IM's and PM's about how to get #r online working and I haven't been anywhere near the thing for months.
POscrub Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 As much fun as megafat threads are, it's probably about time they got cut down to size. Show of hands, who regularly reads all the posts at the start of the megathreads? Dumping the pruned posts into a flat file or whatever would be enough for all nostalgic needs. Dunno the specifics about how it'd impact the DB specifically, but I figure removing ~20K records would do some good.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Not a bad idea to start new megathreads once the old ones get too big, I agree.
raekw0n187 Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 I nominate myself to mod the match maker forums. I see mad post from people who could scare away newcomers that might be intimidated by the regs ,or just think they are huge assholes. Maybe
rtl42 Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 i think the problem with appointing a mod to Matchfinder is that it's too active to monitor consistently. also, by and large, the threads in the Matchfinder forums are pretty friendly, so i can only imagine that this is a specific problem within one (maybe two) threads that you're talking about. don't take this as an "official" response, though; in the end, it's up to Gwyrgyn.
raekw0n187 Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 ^ I understand Sometimes I randomly see things that aren't cool for the scene. Cleaning up some is better than none.
4r5 Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 I wouldn't mind seeing Raekwon threaten people with Potemkin Busters.
Jais Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 ^ I understand Sometimes I randomly see things that aren't cool for the scene. Cleaning up some is better than none. Seconded
Harem Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 I wouldn't mind seeing Raekwon threaten people with Potemkin Busters. Seconded
Free Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 can we get better smileys the one's here are no good:I:
Zazz Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 someone should update the headers for Kliff and Justice's forum to (Accent Core Plus Only) or something
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I think it's cool, but I don't know if there's really all that much to moderate since offtopic flimflam is largely okay. My only real requirement for the forum would be that a new player should be able to find a thread on his region and find some players to play against.
Zazz Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 have you guys considered expanding/cleaning the layout of the "guides" section from the front page to include character strategy? i noticed that many of the character specific forums and their sometimes HUGE threads aren't the easiest things to navigate, which new players may find off putting.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Yes I have but I haven't had the time/motivation to do it yet.
Zazz Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 have you considered installing a wiki (like the Arcana Heart wiki, which is pretty easy to navigate) so that others who do have the "time/motivation to do it" can help out?
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Yeah but I'm concerned it will probably rape the server worse than it already is. We could probably run one external to Dustloop though, as long as whoever did it actually did a good job with it.
rtl42 Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 sorry to change topic i was curious what my first post was on dustloop, and i tried to find it by going to member list => rtl42 => find all posts, but it only gave me the last 500 posts. is there a way to go back further? (in case you are wondering, the earliest post i can find is from february 13th 2008, and i know there are other posts of mine, still on the forum, that are older than that.)
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 It's not great, but you can always use Advanced Search and select to show only posts older than a certain date. I think the 500 hit limit is to keep the search from shitting the server, which is a pretty common problem with vBulletin. I'll see if there is a better way...
rtl42 Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 oh, sorry, should've tried that. but still, it'd be kinda nice to have an ordered list of posts, because even using advanced search, i have to sort through entire threads, and that's kind of what i want to avoid.
Koozebanian Fazoob Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Yeah it's a bit of a pain. You can always search by Threads instead of Posts, and then search an individual thread from there.
