Not if they've made some dramatic changes for the better in Extra I'm not aware of, but it sounds like that's not the case.

Why couldn't they have made it play just like Asuka 120%, my favorite console-exclusive fighting series? I've heard that Delta Factory has some old staff from Fill In Cafe who worked on those games. The counter-step system is definitely reminiscent, but not as tight.

hm so which us was the better host?

Think it felt better with you as host, but yeah, hopefully things won't be so bad in 1.02 ; w;

I dunno, from the changes it seems like a whole new game, I just can't tell you personally how "different" they feel, but aside from random silly stuff it seems pretty legit.

thing is phatom breaker becomes frantic fast when competent play, and their slew of frame trap stuff so easy of execution really keep things going.

Extra definitely looks faster than the original, or maybe there's just less hitstop (a la BBCP), but that's about it. My biggest gripe with the original was that the controls felt like poo. You don't realize how important the tactile sensation and rhythm of motions like QCF, DP, and HCB are until they're gone. If I want to press a single button with a direction to do every special move, I'll just play Smash.

If they were that hell-bent on making the game accessible, they should have taken the P4A route and given everyone an autocombo.

Eh, I didn't think I'd like the more Smash-esque controls, but it doesn't feel so strange, also yeah this game is alot faster than even Another Code.

And this game does have auto-combos = w=

So it seems that Mages is in a bit of a legal struggle with 7Sixity over the distribution rights for Phantom Breaker, which they want to get back, but despite numerous suggestions and contacts it seems 7Sixity isn't budging too much at the moment...

However one thing concerns me...they're more interested in releasing the original PB than getting Extra over here, this is probably due to the lack of the story mode of the original...honestly I think they should make a new ver PBX+ and just include the original content with PBX updates because there's literally no reason to suffer with a vastly outdated game...

Also it looks like physical release might no longer be an option, they might just opt for digital only.

Don't get cranky guys, but yes, I'll still wait no matter what if and when either Vanilla PB or Extra comes to the states if and whenever 5pb/mages gets a chance to. Also, If they get the rights back, I wonder if they'll get the NA/US LE pressings back that have already been made/translated/complete/etc. I dunno, but I did watch an unboxing before of the LE, and I know it still exists in some form (just probably in a wherehouse gathering dust, or not).

Other than that, Kyosuke is right SxB, there is gonna be a Vita port of PB, but its PB: Battlegrounds (coming soon), like the XBLA ver. (Also will be coming to PS4 in the near future as PB:BG OverDrive.)

More patch notes for 1.02 have been posted [character & system specific stuff] I'll try my best to translate when I get back if no one else has by then.

Better address the new comers sprite issues, tokiya's throw, Shizuka 6SP loop, and how activating quick's OD in air causes warping

their is also the matter of Ende phantom breaker allowing teching before the super end, making him vulnerable.

pity how can't find any matches online. But guess it still BBCP prime time.......

edit: One more thing. Where the heck is our voice chat at? I am fan of this game still but I'm bit salty that the game cost more than BBCP and yet barley offers the bare minimal.........

update for ver 1.02 is live

so it seem they pacthes out shizuka loop. her 6SP+H seems to have more recovery. Ende quick style phantom breaker puts oppoent in face down stune when ende drills the oppoent, making it impossible tto texh out of early.

Select button in training mode no longer restarts, instead it brings up a dummy menu where the record dummy function appears.

Select + squar= record

select+ triangle= play

Select + cross= stop/cancel

select + circle= restart sortcut

edit

Sophia received nerf on projectile. more start up.less hits, horizontal version descend slightly as it travels, making it easier to jump over.

Dudes, what's the price of this thing in the JP store? Which one should I get? I don't want an outdated version :v:

Actually, the PS3 only has PB: Extra which has everyone in it from the 1st PB and also 4 new characters. Price is 7,140 Yen. Don't worry about it, you're already getting the better version, lol. :kitty:

Quickie: Well from using Google Translate (yes, lol), it seems starting on 11/5, dunno if its a sale or price drop, it will cost 6,300 yen, so yeah, rather wait for that if necessary.

online activity is dead due to BBCP still being hot, so to be honest no real incentive to get it now unless impatient.

Well to be fair, I don't think nearly as may people imported PBX, it's super niche [even in Japan] and is already coming off of a not so great reputation.

That being said, now that 1.02 is out, I'd love to try netplay again and see if it's actually improved significantly.
