We in need of sticks/setups? I wont be terribly sure how many setups we'll need until more people respond about whether they'll come tonight. Check back thursday night. I assume we'll easily get between 5 and 9 people, so we'll probably need another setup or two. I have both a PS3 and a 360, so I can use my 360 for BB/Marvel and my PS3 for Arcana/DCLess BB, but beyond that we'd need a third console. I just wanted to make sure we had a TV planned ASAP since that's what's generally more lacking than hte console. And yeah, always bring your own stick and preferably a spare. It'll make things easier. But yeah, thanks being up for bringing a tv, dax!. I hope you like mountain dew, I bought a bunch last week for people to have when they're over. We'll order pizza like usual too. Campisi's owns. Sadly, (and yes I know I will get murdered for saying this) I really am SO let down by MVC3. Perhaps it was just being too hyped but I honestly don't like the way it feels. And it's not a character thing, though other than Morrigan. I can stand playing her. I guess I will just sit in the arcana corner next meet-up. not liking a game is fine just as long as you aren't a dick/anti-hype about it. But yeah, that sort of thing happens. Jet just doesn't like how BB feels even though he was hella hyped for it. And marvel is certainly a special flavor. Plus, besides the feeling, one might just not like the pace or the way zoning/mixup is or something like that. At the same time, perhaps you're being premature? I wouldn't judge a game based off just fighting online/CPU/training(though training mode can give a lot of insight into the gamme), have you played it offline with Frigid and such? I'm still cautiously excited about it. Doom being able to airdash and dash cancel so much shit is awesome. Looking forward to using shit like Sentinel assists. At the very least, I should have fun doing combos in it. though "cautiously excited" doesn't mean "won't yell like crazy when i see someone use astral vision or something" Edited February 16, 2011 by Mightfo

Mightfo Posted February 17, 2011 Author Posted February 17, 2011 Played some marvel today, messed around. Shoutouts to easily unlocking 2 of the 4 locked characters with just some training mode. Pretty positive impressions, though the characters who were in TvC lost some TvC things, like morrigan used to be able to do 44 66 for some really nice mixup/mobility, but now she can only dash once...and iirc she can't do stuff like 5b 2b anymore, though other charas can..strange. Morrigan is definitely much stronger than in TvC though..lol cancel whiffed DP into flight mode, or cancel DP into flight mode to combo out of DP! Bunch of other stuff too. I guess i'll make a more detailed post tomorrow. Definitely interesting. Some very fun characters. They definitely nerfed a lot of flight modes in terms of how long they last, though. The voice work is pretty good, got about half english, half japanese voices for the capcom side. Plus, you dont need to beat arcade mode to unlock that ability to choose, haha. Iron man is a lot of fun. Didn't realize sentinel's "NEUTRALIZE" laser was his 5c, ahflawhfkglsdhgl Forgot to test advancing guard. Also, fantastic boobs.

That's a fair point, I have yet to play an actual offline match. And don't get me wrong, watching that game still gets me hyped as hell, (unless Sentinel is on the screen, that just makes me sad) but I think the thing that has killed me so far is that when I play BB and AH, (and even SSFIV) is the combos feel right. When I land a throw with Tsubaki I get so excited because I know I'm about to attempt (I would say do but I STILL drop it sometimes) an awesome juggle combo. When I crouching forward into EX hurricane kick with Ken, I get excited because Ken is a beast and hurricane kicks are the shit. And lastly and most awesomely, when I see Akane do a back flip while kicking someone in the face and then start flying at my opponent to do a DP into a DP super, it makes me feel like the effort I put in is well worth the payoff. Perhaps it still is I haven't found that character yet, as I still have many more characters to try, but I just don't get that bad ass feel from the game. (sorry for the wall of text and my rambling >.<)

Beast, cs2 haku is looking tastier by the minute also shoutouts to me enjoying the hell out of dante, I'm getting dem sexy jump cancel combos down. Overall I love his pressure into ambiuous cross up overheads + any assist i feel like. not to mention the fact that he's a freaking beast on his own, i'm telling ya guyz, Dante is definitely a ronin patented main for sure. Also digging trish, deadpool, zero, and x-23. My trish is probably the most annoying one ever though. just zone til dante and zero get their health back and then rush down begins. deadpool is pretty interesting as well When i win with trish i get hatemail and then trish is all like oh and for those of you interested as to how deadpool knows shoryuken here you go

Mightfo Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) definitely going to be playing morrigan and ironman. really unsure about my third. will probably randomly choose between the following tomorrow: -dante(nice assists, fun) -felicia(unbrockablleees and nice normals and stuff) -dormammu(zoninnng and dark hole assist) -hsien(nice assists, very interesting playstyle, just a bit strange for me...) -zero(he fun) -phoenix(projectile/anti air assist are p good, and lol wait till i have 5 meter than tag her in) -viper(overhead assists, some fancy stuff, 8-way airdash, tits..i dont like how she plays that much though, but i think i will definitely mess with her more later) -chun li(lol jump cancel airdash, and also meatkick assist) -captain america(shield slash. that's pretty much it) -sentinel(loleasy, big fucking robot, nice assists) the game is less crazy/free in some ways than i thought it would be, and moreso in others. it's pretty fun and i think i will "casually"(aka no really serious combo practice, though i do know some nice ironman and morrigan bnbs that are pretty reliable) play it over a long period, especially if interesting characters come out for DLC(striderrr), but it won't be my focus. but yeah, tomorrow will be fun!
