WOOF X7 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Go back to netplay, you scrub. i dont even see the big deal on Chie...
Chickzama Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Honestly, I could care less about what Chie can or can't do. As long as I can play Naoto, I'm happy. I will get back on netpray, you scrub, just in time to show you up on P4U. <3
Pfhor Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 I know people can bitch and still adapt. But I still think bitching(not to be confused with complaining about legit dumb things like valk vs tager) is pretty much useless and braindead and just damages things. It makes people take shit less seriously(much against what you want if you want people to go in on an anime game hard for once, pfhor), it confuses newcomers like sloppy uses of the word "broken", 95% of the time it is braindead, it usually doesnt acknowledge how people's own charas have annoying strengths as well and the nature of heterogeneous game balance, and it contributes to negative perceptions about lesser played FGs and general acidity. Bitching about charas because they have different strengths than your own is the modern "Throws are cheap!" I dont think it even helps people let off steam, since it is very self-fueling, just leads to more complaining about something that may just be something to learn, not something that is just stupid like tager vs valk. People often assume there's nothing to lab when they hear repeated bitching about something. Honestly this sort of thing isn't going away as it's been entrenched within the fighting game community for the 6 or so years I've been a part of it. There's always a hated character that everybody has fun complaining about, even if they aren't THAT good relative to the cast, it's like a pastime of the FGC. I don't doubt that in some cases this complaining can actually turn self demoting and unwillingness to adapt and learn, but I'm pretty sure that people who go through that are the exception not the rule. If you feel someone is being demotivated by losing and saying "thats broken and there's no way to beat that" obviously you need to help them understand that, yes there is a way to beat or avoid that, but if someone is saying "fuck chie" in a playful manner after they got hit by some sick Tomoe setup then they aren't really hurting anything as long as they learn how to deal with it in the future. Avoid misunderstandings with new people and explain that people are just letting off steam, cause that's how people are and you can't really do anything about it.
Denthorn Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 If by some freak chance no one in Dallas is hosting this weekend I can run something up here in Denton. Unfortunately I've got a final on Friday and pretty much my entire grade for the class depends on it soooo... Yeah. Can't do much this week. Lots of stuff. Haven't been keeping up all that much with P4A stuff, but it kinda surprises me to hear people are complaining about Chie being OP. Nothing I've seen from her really makes her seem extraordinarily better than anyone else so far. Though maybe I'm just biased 'cause of melee's top tiers being such total bullshit in comparison. Also, fuck Kohaku.
Mightfo Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) Good post pfhor. Sorry for acting kinda weird/obvious. I just want a majority of our scene to go in hard and not just a few people who try to play seriously on each game which others just play rather casually, so i just really wanted to dissuade some things that can water down people's attitudes. CHIE SHOVES DICKS INTO HER ASS WITH A BULLDOZER Does anyone who already has the game decided on their main? Edited August 6, 2012 by Mightfo
TransientFaith Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Either way, you will have to deal with stagger 5a pressure, ridiculous oki, mixup city from half the other cast. Heck maybe I'll play Chie in spirit.
WOOF X7 Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Yeah I thought I wanted to play yukiko but never really enjoyed keep away. After playing the game for a couple days I settled on yosuke the rushdown mixup gawd. Guess I have a thing for guys who duel wield knives and have really good mobility.
Pfhor Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Also, fuck Kohaku. hi pat, also Jet should be hosting this weekend apparently so we will go to that.
MooseJaw Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Man you kids sure like that Chie huh? For those coming over tomorrow be sure to give me a text/call before you head over. Don't know how long I'll be out getting the game and food for everyone.
jetblaksuit Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Unless my other roommate says no when I see her tonight I'll be hosting Saturday. Normal 3pm start time. I'll actually clean my fucking room this time too so we'll have room for everyone. I only have my own PS3 and copy of P4U so all other setups will have to be provided. I do have a CRT in my room, and a small TV/VCR combo CRT though so that can at least handle another P4U setup and PS2 setup respectively. My PC is ass for Melty though so, we can use that space if someone brings a setup. If anyone can bring chairs that would be greatly appreciated cause I definitely do not have enough even for the standard crew.
MooseJaw Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 From the San Diego thread: P4A allows semi-customization in titles Here is the list of all the words you can choose. If I recall correctly, you get up to three entries. The List: http://pastebin.com/XRiP44mL Bad/Mother/Fuuka it is!
oldboy Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Gonna post about the meetup on the DFW FG facebook group if that's okay. Will bring 360 setup with 2 sticks and i can also bring some aluminum folding chairs. Get off work at 3:30, so should be there after 4-5ish.
Mr Oso Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 (edited) Bleh i work Tuesday and Saturday . Edited August 7, 2012 by Mr Oso
TransientFaith Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Looking forward to the meetup! Sitting in the corner sipping dat H2O. Living the good life.
Mightfo Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 Excited for Persona meetup Saturday. A bunch of people from DFW Facebook FGC group may come. I might be able to bring folding chairs, would have to stop by my apartment. Will bring a setup or two with Ro. Updated/cleaned up the front post for the first time in forever.
Edge Reaper Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Yo good P4A meetup. GG's to Moosejaw for the meet and the food. Guy's a saint. In the end, I think I might be playing the Emperor duo, Kanji being my main and Akihiko being subbed. I really do enjoy playing Kanji, but god fucking dammit I'm already hating playing against Teddie.
KeyBlaz Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Really Enjoying P4A today was a good day against edge and moosejaw. I think i figured out two characters that im gonna focus on now.
TransientFaith Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Yay lab fun...going to enjoy the weeks following this Saturday. I want more labtime!
cookie` Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 nearly 6 hours of training/challenge mode today this game is the new crack you bet your ass I'll be at the meetup this weekend, I'll even lug my 32" tv over
MooseJaw Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 (edited) Gonna be so behind on this game with all the work I gotta do when I get back. It's pretty cool though now that I've got a feel for it. I think I'll play Chie / Mitsuru based on how much free time I'm going to have to practice and on how much they seems to already enrage people. Thanks for coming out Key and Edge. Glad you two had fun! Edited August 8, 2012 by MooseJaw
Mightfo Posted August 8, 2012 Author Posted August 8, 2012 Playing Yukiko in Persona since the hybrid characters dont really fit me and I dont really want to play rushdown lately, although the rushdown characters in this game are great. Saturday looking like: Sunfish Foxstep Metal Keyblaz Jet Mightfo Ro Eric Woof Maybe boombox Pfhor Oldboy Transient People from facebook DFW FG group
KeyBlaz Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Crap mightfo we're gonna end up maining the same oh well least i get to see what you cooked up and see how I might be able to use it.
Edge Reaper Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Oh joy. Fans all over the goddamn place. What a bunch of Persona Fanboys.
Mightfo Posted August 9, 2012 Author Posted August 9, 2012 (edited) Crap mightfo we're gonna end up maining the same oh well least i get to see what you cooked up and see how I might be able to use it. Most of my "tech" early on is just going to be some knowledge about what her ranged pressure options are in terms of dealing with rolls, making them not want to hit buttons, benefiting from their reluctance to hit buttons/move, etc. Feels like most of her really fancy tech has been made, gonna have to research her unblockable setups which she can set up off some things with just 25 meter it seems. I will end up tinkering around with jump cancels and crossups some though... also she has some sick juggles and mixups with 236AB which i will eventually learn, that move is too good. 25 meter and you basically just get to party Jet might play teddie btw. There's gonna be a lot of overlaps, only 12 charas, but that means we'll have a decent variety of matchup experience. Oh joy. Fans all over the goddamn place. What a bunch of Persona Fanboys. I've never played persona :P Besides, i think every character is going to end up represented, so just appreciate the matchup experience. Edited August 9, 2012 by Mightfo
