Rachel - between 6-4 and 7.5-2.5 Mu's favor

Mu does everything Rachel does, only better, and steins rock her face in when it comes to Rachel trying to rush in or out zone you. This is a really easy matchup and since Rachel doesn't have a reversal, you get free pressure and oki setups in the corner that she can't get out of.

Discussion transfer.

Oh and Rachel does have a reversal.

learn to watch for 214a and instant block that shit. -7 on instant block, mu's 5a is 6 frames and 2a is 7 frames, so definitely punishable if you are looking for it, and it is a huge part of her game, i think.

Her reversal barely counts, since it isn't throw invulnerable. It's hardly a reversal.

Just spam steins. She won't be able to summon a damn thing. If she tries and you actually want to deal damage, 6c FC.

yeah, non-charged steins wrecks her shit. She really cant do anything but search for an opening, and you can hit her WAY before she gets to you.

6C will totally screw her lobelias/pumpkin summon/frog call if she's in range on reaction. This is true of almost all ground based projectiles save Lambda and Hazama's (unless your physic).

So I just got raped by Banzatou; what's a good strategy against a Rachel with really good spacing and pressure? I hardly had any time to space myself or set anything up, his Rachel was already in my face from the start...once I got in the corner I get stuck blocking forever. Is there any way to punish her lobelia pressure in the corner? It seems like Lambda, she can get me in a "sweet spot" where I'm threatened by 6B, tiny lobelia, and sword iris, and if I try to jump out I just get air pressured or grabbed. DP won't reach and lol Mu Counter Assault. This is probably the hardest part of the matchup for me.

yeah i dunno

i have trouble getting out of pressure in this matchup too. dat lobelia is so fast.

on the other hand, outzoning rachel is pretty nice...

I was waiting to answer some of these problems until I had formulated an elegant thought, but the reality is, you can beat rachel by pretty much just disrespecting all her options because the damage is so low, you can just afford to do it.

Corner 'trap' of A lobelia x N: you can do 5C and trade or super jump out. Also, IBing puts a stop to lobelia pressure fast, also remember her 3C is -3 on block, so don't treat it like CT.

Ignore 6B. I know it can hit you and be annoying, but the damage potential off that move is borderline non-existant. All she can do is cancel into Tempest Dahlia for about 2k.

6C can get her to stop throwing lobelias really fast in neutral. Her lack of mobility without using wind makes it hard for her to punish is properly.

The D-Wall (2D>5D>j4D>jD) is very effective at zoning rachel and beats lobelia spam clean.

Rachel also seems especially vulnerable to charging SoD because of her limited mobility and range. Properly spaced, she cannot beat out SoD reliably.
