cookiehours Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I hate this matchup with a passion. I've been having trouble with it and I'm looking to get better.
Arcade Fire87 Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I hate this matchup with a passion. I've been having trouble with it and I'm looking to get better. Step 1, try to 5A bang right the hell back Step 2, do 3K from Lambda's meterless jab combo's Step 3, send hate mail to the Bang player

kenja0 Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Beat Bang, beat the game. Learn all of his blockstring possibilities and escape when possible or when he may try to reset. By the way, even if he ends his blockstring with a blocked D move, it can't be punished. Also, Bang likes to retract his punches to dodge Lambda's Gravity Seed... so fuuuuuu.... If you shot a 6/2D while Bang is in the air- you missed. Airgrabs might save the day, but he can 'nail' you at point blank. If you get poisoned, don't approach still, just take the slow 1200 damage. Bang has 2 airdashes and two ways to cross you up and approach. Don't dash after a 214D~C, Bang already Burning Heart it into your face. Burning Heart > Lambda's projectiles.

That^ And, Instant Block EVERYTHING. D moves (except j.D) can all be punished on IB. Watch out for 2B, overheads, command grab, and may the force be with you from up close. Pure zoning is the way to go. Nails are stupid, try jumping between them. (you probably won't..just block with all your might) FRKZ = Game Over.
kenja0 Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Forgot- If Bang is in the air then don't Gravity Seed him- he'll airdash past you and turn it into a Act Parser and laugh at your recovery.
Andru Posted August 8, 2010 Author Posted August 8, 2010 I'm really not liking the fact that the answer to almost all of Lambda's bad matchups is, "IB everything", I really need to practice IBing..when I try I usually eat a combo. Maybe it's because it's online usually though. I know the timings of most character's blockstrings by heart by seeing them so much, but still. And yeah, 6D whiffs completely on him, 2D can catch him sometimes though, but when he's sort of close..he might j.c and trade or even CH if he get in fast enough..
kenja0 Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Lambda doesn't have the speed of normals like other characters have. She is strictly a zoning mindgame character- she can't fight or defend up close as well as others. If you don't have the opponent in her tools or her tools become invalid, then she has to let the opponent get close and attempt to counter them during IB or their imperfections. Her Gravity Seed isn't even an option in this matchup. So with sucky normals, no zones, and no reverals, Lambda has nothing else to fall back on except a better defensive game. If anything, it reminds me of having to defend like Tager against the cast.
Mr. Kimura Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 I play Bang and Lambda but I'm quite inexperienced but in terms of understanding Bang I can tell you what I'm learning with him now, if it would help. Bang's blockstring usually consists of 5A/2A or 2A 2A to Void Tempest Bang Drop (command grab) or a regular grab, or his 5C/6B overheads which are usually slow. Bang can jump cancel a lot of his moves to try and cross you up or some other shenanigans. Other than that kenja0 and tukapretty much explained everything. If Bang has you close and catches you with 5C he can 2C 2B 623B etc you for good damage. His command grab does the damage of a whole combo, I would probably try and interrupt him after 2A if you're blocking. He could try and 5A 5B then 5A again for a frame trap cause 5B is -1 on block. Dunno if that helps or not. Pretty much what tuka and kenja0 have said.
