Spirit Juice Posted November 22, 2010 Author Posted November 22, 2010 snip These kids don't listen to old men.
TaoFTW Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 This reminds me when I tried to get the GG NorCal scene to play and get better a few years back but no one cared. Too bad you guys didn't play one of the best fighters in it's prime. Stay free. Hey JP Ken and Nerina were the biggest reasons for me to join the FG community. Actually they, and Fred, were the -only- reason why I decided to stick with GG back in my college days n' beyond...Probably the biggest waste of three years of my life. Despite my recent trolling, I sincerely think you guys were cool to hang around with; I also really would like to thank everyone whom I got to touch base on a personal level. When it comes to TO; when we can't come on solid terms for streaming; when people like to not care; NorCal is free regardless of whatever reason we try to butter ourselves up to be. Now do you want to STAY free or try to do something you're good at? If you asked for my opinion, NorCal has one -exceedingly- good trait that actually stands out above other communities - consistency. That's the one (and the only one) thing I could rely on whenever I tried to organize a tournament with you flunkies. I got to hand it to you guys; GG/MB always had a consistent turnout as long as it didn't include travel for more than 20 miles...unless it was the previous minor. If you guys keep it that way, then the scene will keep going until somebody dies from old age. That's the one thing I thankful for you all.
qwerty Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 i thoroughly examine all of my matchvids. and believe it or not, i even try to practice when i can. not having a ps2 since august has been rough, though.

I haven't been able to play GG or MB since school started. I could only take either my Xbox 360 or PS2 when I moved out into my dorm room. And I just got Continuum Shift so... If you guys keep it that way, then the scene will keep going until somebody dies from old age. That's the one thing I thankful for you all. I first started playing GG in 2008, a junior in high school that was virtually bummed out all the time. XX, X, and even GG1/2 are games I enjoy playing and can't get tired of. Now anything else seems to pale in comparison to GG. But with this dumbing down craze thanks to SF4(worst fighting game in recent memory), now Pachi, a former tourney player, is saying he'd would take out FRCs, which isn't that hard. Oh but everyone and their mom can manage to mash 1-frame links in SF4. Why? They put up with it because it's Street Fighter, that makes me all sort of sad. I really don't have much gathering/ranbat/tourney experience, I've only been able to attend SRK gatherings in Sac, but it's always for SSF4. I'd be the black guy that brings Guilty Gear and Melty Blood with him just because he doesn't like S/SF4. I wanna learn, I don't wanna be free forever, I want to enjoy this game with others. So how the hell can I do that when a majority of the meetings are not in my area at all? And if my other matters somehow interfere with events I could have gone to, or I don't have a job that provides steady income thanks to the shitty economy so I won't have to worry about my mom taking my grants and loans from me for the _nth time. Despite this, during Winter break, I'll be on shut-in mode, enjoying more GG/MB/JJBA/BB/ST/anything except S/SF4, because that's how I roll. So yeah, the fact we don't have a location that can be used for players to meet sucks. That's why I said Sac needs an arcade, real talk.
Stafy Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 eh, i've been trying to go into tournaments here in norcal but i just forget/don't feel like driving or i feel it's too far from oakland i'll try to go to the next one if it's on a weekend/break for me, since still in high school and all (not this week though!)
ZONG_one Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Seriously though, qwerty has a point. Fact is, arcade players and arcade scenes are far superior to online randoms. Case in point, there's a small handful of semi-serious BB players at the SFSU arcade and they're better than 99% of anyone I've played on PSN. Too bad (not really) they've moved on to other (better) games, but it proves a point. If NorCal had anything like AI where good players play each other regularly we'd be 300% better than we are now. No one plays at AI anymore, just so you know.
Tone Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 No arcade? That's fine. idk what's stopping you guys from finding someone's house or something to gather at weekly to get grind sessions in. We've been doing it up here in FF for years. :\
Spirit Juice Posted November 22, 2010 Author Posted November 22, 2010 No one plays at AI anymore, just so you know. No one plays anything anymore, anywhere, at any time. Everyone died in California fire #892392834.
Whiteboywilly Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 No one plays at AI anymore, just so you know. Well thats why AI might close.

NegroNInja Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I'm assuming no one else hosts cause they don't want random faces showing up on their doorstep, or they live with their parents.
Tone Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 They can play at my house, but they gotta down a shot upon entry. this is the most fair rule ever created, fuck venue fees. make this the standard.
ehuangsan Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I can consider hosting something bi-weekly; I just don't have any setups.
magz Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) I can consider hosting something bi-weekly; I just don't have any setups. Just say when, I've got a setup and I'm pretty sure qwerty can bring a TV as well. Also, talked to 10kai today and we're planning on playing GG @ SJSU on Wednesday this week (the last day before Thanksgiving break). It would be cool if it was more than just him and I, just sayin`. Spirit Juice Posted November 23, 2010 Author Posted November 23, 2010 Oh AJ, posting silly memes and totally missing the point that we're blowing up Alex for being stupid like usual. Stay free. Stay salty. Put on blast. Get bodied. Pringles. Mango Sentinel.

Outside Isaiah and hella good bang guy, who exactly is worth playing there? Everyone else is either a troll or loses to the trolls

STenSatsu Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 I might be able to make it to sjsu. I'm assuming at student union or is it somewhere else?
magz Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 I might be able to make it to sjsu. I'm assuming at student union or is it somewhere else? Right in front of the arcade (ideally). It'll be nice to have an Anji to session with.
ehuangsan Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Right in front of the arcade (ideally). It'll be nice to have an Anji to session with. What time?
magz Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 What time? I have class from 9-10:15AM and 1-2:45PM but I can have a setup in between if there's interest. Sean has class until 3PM and will be there right after.
tastylumpia Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Outside Isaiah and hella good bang guy, who exactly is worth playing there? Everyone else is either a troll or loses to the trolls There's also the Jin player, that asian dude who plays every character and Andrew when he's not being a YGO fag...
mirr Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 There's also the Jin player, that asian dude who plays every character and Andrew when he's not being a YGO fag... Andrew = bigger troll than I am. Has figured out how to Jesus kick with 5B and American DP all day. Jin guy = jB, 6c->DP and falling jA. Once you figure how to beat that, it's a matter of not getting hit in the air and properly firing up the AA. every chara dude: dash in 2A without fear, not like he'll do anything about it. So again, outside of hella good bang guy and Isaiah, who are the good players there? Everyone else either is a troll or loses to mashing...
