Dacidbro Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 i wish USA KOF had a fraction of the amount of players BB has Well a good first step is a console release. Until then, fuck everything. Seriously, it just can't happen.
qwerty Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 A game being at NCI doesn't mean it's dead. true, but that doesn't mean it's the best place for 13 to gain momentum, either. at the very least, i don't want 13 to be exclusive to nci. whether it means monthlies at sfsu or keystone or wherever, there has to be more than one place to play 13 if the scene is to grow. console release is gonna happen, it's just a matter of when. Look at BB, now it's at Revelations and EVO with huge pots. Same shit COULD happen for KOF XIII, someday i want to see it through that 13 gets on the ncr roster.
blk_mage Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 If we actually start regular XIII meet-ups i'll probably try to make it out to those when I can.
Tone Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 console release is gonna happen, it's just a matter of when. issue is snk releasing the game when nobody cares anymore i would worry more about getting something going in sfsu on the regular before even considering nci, much less ncr.
mirr Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 (edited) going to SF is expensive, but it's better than nothing since we're going to be old as fuck by the time we get a damn console release it would be nice to generate some interest in the game early on though, i guess whats the layout btw, old neo-geo or XI? neo-geo was BCD A right? You can pick that or XI style at the start. edit: As for getting here, I think 90 then bart is the least painful method since it doesn't require driving here and finding parking, both which blow chunks. On the negative side, it's like 20 for round trip (at least that's how much it is for me since I commute from Vallejo)...then you have the machine taking 50c per ....yeah. Hope y'all can mobilize, it's day 2 and people already went back to playing super bad fighter 4. Edited February 3, 2011 by mirr

I agree. So...bi-monthly road trips to sfsu and other places in Socal for casuals. good idea y/n? I would say more, but not enough sleep makes Arvoyea go something something.
qwerty Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 neo-geo was BCD A right? NegroNInja Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 So a mexican guy came into the RnC today, and raped everybody...it's starting! But for real a couple issues with this fun ass game: I could swear there's some input lag but that might just be my shabby dexterity and slow reactions from all the boozing, not a red flag yet. Also, Iori is a pain in the ass to play against, at least his was. All in all, feelin perty gerd bout this game.
qwerty Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 type x2 i/o board has i think 2 frames of lag, and the display lags by another 1-2 frames or so. also, get used to that kof command interpreter. there's a lot of (necessary) shortcuts.
NegroNInja Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 aaaah that's why then, well I'll take that in mind next time I play I was getting pretty frustrated with my drops.
Tone Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 XIII's interpreter is a lot like KOFXI's so it shouldn't really be difficult to do anything, I think it's just getting used to it. :\

As in what the game uses to read your inputs? If it's XI's that cool. XI had one of the better command interpreters for a KOF game. I just can't do broken infinite crap. You know, how people are on Arclive/Supercade/GGPO. Being able to only block and take it like you're Gouki/Akuma if you can't do any of that makes me sad. But it's gone in 13, right? ....right!?
Arvoyea Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Oh, that combo is godliek. Seems like the first time Terry can do crazy stuff like everyone else for once. But it is impractical and costs a lot of meter. the most played in this game on the other hand, not really.
qwerty Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 terry can do damage just fine. the problem is that he can't do anything else.
Crosell Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 If we held a UM or 2002, I wouldn't mind getting into it. Though, to be honest I know nothing about KOF, maybe you can break down KOF at this NCI.
Tone Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 But it is impractical and costs a lot of meter. welcome to 99% of KOF combo material
blk_mage Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Why do I feel like i'll be playing bottom teir characters in KoF (Terry and Ryo, not sure who else yet.)
qwerty Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 terry isn't quite bottom, though he is hard to use. weak burn knuckle and crack shoot being unsafe makes it really hard for him to maintain pressure. the good thing is that when he does land a hit, he makes it count. ryo is actually pretty interesting. he has some unique tools (his dp doesn't move him too far forward, so he can actually use it to stuff hops/crossups) and a decent neutral game, he just doesn't do damage. if you wanna stick with those two, i suggest you put a reliable anchor on your team as well. someone like andy, k', shen, takuma or raiden.
