I add $100 so that I don't have to add any more for like months. Trouble is, it's gets put in as "pay by cash" when I was going to pay by debit, and I don't have $100 on me. The transaction has already gone through in the system, as my phone received a msg about "thanks for refilling! $100" So the guys in the shop are not freaking out, but are definitely in a ohnoohnoohno state, and eventually they tell me "well, I guess you get $100 free". This doesn't sit well with me because while the megacorp could care less about $100, it's a mistake that could dearly cost these grunts, who seem like decent enough people. So I go to an ATM, get the cash I need, walk back to the shop, and ask if they could print a receipt of the transaction. They're like "OMG" upon seeing me back with the money. One of them afterwards hands me a $100 prepaid card. So while I didn't save myself the expense of $100, with $100 I managed to buy some dudes peace of mind, and I didn't get nothing for my troubles. ---------------------------------- I would like to have enough money to make ventures without their failure ruining me. While this amount of buffering might make my decision-making and thinking soft, having so much money that it affords freedom for arbitrary and unlimited failure must be the ultimate freedom. The next logical challenge, given that money is available in such a surplus that it no longer needs to be counted as a significant limited resource, is to acquire the same with time.

I like the controls and a lot of the fighters (honestly if it wasn't for Cung Le and Fedor, I probably wouldn't have even tried the game)-- but the game doesn't feel as fun as UFC. The pacing of each game's story mode is different... In EA MMA, it's a lot slower and your character progresses like a snail (you really have to work to get your guy good at a single discipline, not to mention multiple disciplines). In UFC, your character progresses so fast that you can produce an HNK character after your first four fights. UFC also has the option of DISRESPECT. There's nothing like trash talking before and AFTER the fight (after you beaten him to a pulp). But I've spent at least 10x more time on UFC than I have on EA, so maybe I haven't appreciated certain aspects of EA.

Greed Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 lol peter so many things with the zenra orchestra that just leap out at you - The seeming lack of women in the audience, but the top right of the audience seems to be almost exclusively female. Apparently zenra's not a couples event, but there is a niche market for raging lesboholics? I could always have got them all wrong, and they're just a women's community group who likes cultural events and were in for a surprise. - The mid 30s woman front and centre who's obviously there dragged by her boss and tries to focus all her attention on her laptop - The obvious nervousness of the women makes you wonder too. This isn't the coy, "my mind says no but my body's a raging slut" usual japanese thing, it's squared-shoulder spine-stiff near panic. Most of the girls with bigger instruments have clearly been told not to let their instrument cover their privates when they're standing there, and are desperately fighting to obey. Which makes you wonder how they were cast, since out of the entire orchestra the keyboardist is the only one who's been playing for more than a month or two. And yet, these girls *have* been playing for more than a few days. Did they feverishly practice day and night for hours on end thinking "IF I JUST GET BETTER AT THIS TROMBONE, I WON'T HAVE TO PLAY RUSTY ONES ANYMORE"? Or "THIS FLUTE MAKES MY LIPS HURT, BUT AT LEAST IT DOESN'T SPRAY MY FACE AFTER"? Or perhaps they're all music school graduates who are normally virtuosos who can play more than one passage over and over, and it was just the nervousness of being naked in front of an auditorium full of bored, lecherous middle-aged businessmen. Or maybe they're just low-end hostesses who happened to play an instrument back in highschool before they started skipping classes to play chicken with lonely salarymen with disposable incomes. All in all I felt like an American version would be more entertaining, cause they'd probably be able to play, and they'd likely be able to find a soloist who could play the flute with her vagina.
