BagLunch Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Interesting note about mvc3: Level 3 supers are generally not subject to damage scaling during combos.
BagLunch Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 From the Ryu section of the MvC3 strategy guide: "Ryu is one of the better characters at punishing crossover assists from a challenger: simply blast them with Shinku Hadoken! If your opponent’s point character is guarding the beam, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 does not consider the beam to be a combo on the assist character; this means the entire hyper combo will do un-scaled damage to the assist in addition the assist’s 50% damage penalty! A single Shinku Hadoken will damage a crossover assist for more than 50% vitality if the point character is guarding." mvc3: DON'T GET SHOT
Cardinal_Sin Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I read a bit of that guide and apparently Ryu's shoryuken assist is not invincible. WTF?
sweetvids Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Oh shit, it's Yuan Gui's birthday. Better wish the man Happy Birthday lest he rages at us. Happy Birthday, from 3 hours in the past.
ghostgoodboy Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 May the best of your past be the worst of your future Yuan. If it were not for peter to bring up this, I don't check Facebook events at all. MvC3 : http://static.capcom.com/mvc3/04zj_capcom_ryu.pdf http://static.capcom.com/mvc3/04ao_marvel_wolverine.pdf well, it's on SRK but why not. pretty awesome works.
rtl42 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 if anyone is planning to come to my wedding and wants to ask about trip planning/advice, now's a good time to ask! my wife and i are right in the middle of setting up an itinerary for my family.
BagLunch Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I got your wedding invitation, Stefan! I highly doubt that I'll be able to attend, though
BagLunch Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 WTF Tony Stark hitting on Tron in MvC3 fight intro
Saru Kada Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Tony Stark hitting on Tron in MvC3 fight introhahahaha classic tony those guides ray posted are actually quite thorough, and though I didn't go through them in detail they seem to be well-thought out and represent everything someone new to marvel would need to know, and quite a bit more. they seem to be from some sort of guidebook - do they have these writeups for every character in the cast? it's impressive that they'd go to such lengths to make the game so approachable to casual gamers - especially since it already has a broader appeal than, say, street fighter. seriousness aside, I enjoy how ryu's gameplay boils down to "spam hado" and wolverine's "spam crossup"
Cardinal_Sin Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Yeah the guidebook is supposed to be sold as part of the collector's edition, and sold standalone as well. Like it's definitely better than your average Gamespot guide or whatever, though I'm not sure the guide in and of itself is immediately more approachable / usable for the average casual, especially if only hardcore players are going to be buying collectors' edition / supplemental material. Like you said the strategy boils down to SPAM HADOKEN but you have to scroll down six pages past frame data, complicated crossup setups and weird mixups to read it. I'd figure the first thing they should tell people is "here's a good assist, mash it constantly, oh and do 236P a lot too" before moving on to the complicated stuff. Which they kind of do, but it's kind of buried beneath a ton of other stuff and LOL SUPERHERO POWER LEVELS (which is fine i guess but it seems to confuse funny fanservice stuff with actual gameplay mechanics / strengths) speaking of which someone pointed Wolverine has an intelligence level of 2. I guess healing factor doesn't work on brain cells.
ghostgoodboy Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 T hulk doesn't give a fuck about your name.
Saru Kada Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 yeah I thought it was funny how hilariously low almost all of wolverine's stats were. it is true that the average casual has to dig through way too much stuff to get to the meat and potatoes though, so in that aspect it definitely appeals more to the experienced fighting game player, but points to them for trying to strike a balance. I wonder if they'll integrate any sort of tutorial system into the game itself; street fighter's challenges aren't quite the same kind you would need for a beginner. FUNNY HELMET MAN
nagai Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 http://screwattack.com/videos/MvC3-Smack-Talkin-Teams hahahhaa deadpool: MAGNETO WELCOME TO DIE this is great
BagLunch Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 whoaaaa crazy mvc3 system details: - no negative edge (a capcom fighting game first?) - No more superjump cancelling normals (?) (I'm not 100% positive on this, but I couldn't get it to work) (awwww no suki cancel!) - With some limited exception, sweeps don't really "knock down," they mini-launch (auto-roll on recovery, so no OTG after sweep, only juggle) - Tags must be blocked high (omfg there's got to be a way to set up a 2 character on screen at the same time unblockable glitch) - Double snap is still technically possible, but it's much harder to do on reaction, due to lack of OTG options. Furthermore, when you relaunch assist, they just fall out after a very short time (I only got 2 launches with the setup I used) (buzzkill ) - Flight lasts approximately 2.1 seconds (that is not a typo); for comparison, in MVC2, Doom and IM's flights last 6+ sec, Magneto's is 8+, Storm and Sentinel's are 12+
Teyah Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Is anyone else attending Stefan's wedding? I was going to book my stuff this weekend and thought that if anyone else was going, it would be nice to travel together so that we (I) don't get lost in Japan So, who else is planning to go?
BagLunch Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 http://twitter.com/JWonggg/status/36490128830496768# hahahaha But then again, I remember marn and co. trashing TvC when it came out, and then we would go on to see crazy stuff developed like Tekkaman+Ken runaway and PTX winning tournaments.
Greed Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Is anyone else attending Stefan's wedding? I was going to book my stuff this weekend and thought that if anyone else was going, it would be nice to travel together so that we (I) don't get lost in Japan So, who else is planning to go? What's actually happening with that? I haven't heard anything about it in over a year
