West Coast Canada IV: "Ah yes, 'Guilty Gear' - we have already dismissed that game!"

ugh, helicopter water drop failed today. (too much radiation.) they're apparently calling it in tonight, and are gonna try to figure out what the hell to do tomorrow.

edit: just watching a report about the disaster area and stuff. they showed one lady, who's 104 years-old, evacuated in a school somewhere. in another place, they (partially) showed a baby being born today in a hospital (Shizukawa area?); the hospital is right in the middle of the disaster area.

edit2: oh and the Emperor is giving a recorded address (?) to the public, aimed at the disaster. i'm such an idiot, though -- I'm looking at the TV, and I ask my wife, "You know, that old guy looks familiar... who is he?" and she's like, "It's the Emperor!"

Totally facepalmed myself, hard, for that one.

edit3: ok so apparently they're gonna use some special vehicle from the Metropolitan Police Dept. and use it to bring in water to cool down the spent fuel rods in unit #4, starting as soon as tonight. (they didn't say what kind of vehicle it is :psyduck: )

edit4: it's a high-pressure water truck, so i suspect they're gonna just put the special "chemical disaster team" in the truck and drive close enough to the units to fire water in.

Are they just using sea water still? I heard for a while they were using seawater but apparently that makes for much nastier cleanup afterwards.

clarence: AFAIK they're still using seawater.

okay so they've been "water-bombing" (?) unit #3 from helicopters. (just in case the word is wrong, think of what they do to put out forest fires in the interior.)

so aside from NHK, most TV channels have returned to regular programming. it feels a bit... disrespectful, imo.

water-bombing didn't go as well as they thought; they brought in a police water cannon truck, but they had to fire from 20-30m away because of the radiation levels, so the water didn't really make it to unit #3; then they brought in these monster water cannon trucks from the Japan SDF, and the water was able to reach the reactor unit. they managed to spray about 50 tonnes of water over the course of an hour, and then had to call it in for today.

crossing my fingers for more good news tomorrow.

possible Japanese Hulk? GAMA TSUNAMI DESU. thanks Stefan for keeping us posted, and it's important for us to see each post you make now, as what fuck the next second could be.

Nate obviously didn't ask 50 cents for top ways of survival tips. Even it's different causes, in which case, that make it worse(?).

Charlie Sheen's quip about "I'm on a drug and it's called Charlie Sheen" was absolutely brilliant. I don't think I've heard many lines that good in awhile. Sure the rest of it was crazy talk (that was terribly entertaining when on paper, rather than being "oh man what's that guy on" when delivered in person), but that one line is so awesome.

In an industry driven by realistic and high-end visuals, it’s actually refreshing to see someone think outside the box somewhat, and the fact that Child of Eden uses Kinect to the best of its abilities is an added bonus. Granted, Child of Eden isn’t going to be for everyone, but for people who have a fascination with music, who also truly want to believe that games are an art form and are seeking something uniquely original and creative, then you should look no further. It’s hypnotic, addictive and damn beautiful, what else could you ask for?

it tasks you with the assignment of deleting a virus from a memory bank of a character called Lumi, who was the first human born among the stars in a space station, but died before she could set foot on Earth. 200 years after Lumi’s death and after her memories had been stored, in trying to recreate it to produce the first child of Eden, a virus had been unleashed on the archives and that’s where you come in. So your job is to enter the 5 archives – Beauty, Evolution, Matrix, Journey and one more – and to take on the viruses and remove them from Lumi’s memories.

you will essentially have three weapons::numero uno, the ‘tracer,’ which for the most part will be needed to shoot down enemy projectiles – AKA the “purple things” and acts a little like sub-machinegun fire; numero dos, the ‘lock-on,’ where you lock on up to 8 targets and then fire a blow killing them all; and finally, ‘Euphoria,’ which is essentially a nuke, killing everything on-screen. The Euphoria however, comes very infrequently, so the tracer and the lock-on will be your tools for the most part.

So how do you shoot? Simple. The tracer constantly fires a stream of bullets which you control with your right hand; while to lock-on, you hover over your target with the right hand and then flicking with it when you want to fire – heck, you can even throw a kick depending on how energetic you feel. Euphoria on the other hand is triggered by throwing your hands up in the air; and to switch between the lock-on and the tracer, you clap. And that’s pretty much it, as far as controls go.

Let’s just hope there’s enough to keep us addicted when Child of Eden ships this summer

well, they did it -- the US, Britain and France have started attacking Gadhafi's forces/infrastructure.

it's funny how there's no recent news out of Egypt and Tunisia, though.

Sup gaiz.

The MTL BB community is organizing an event on the 22nd/23rd of April(easter weekend).

Lord Knight, one of the top players in the U.S is coming down to see what we're all about.

We'll be having BB, GG tournaments and possibly AH3 and MB.

It's always fun to meet new people who play the same games that we do, so feel free to drop by.

I honestly don't know much about the WC of Canada but I heard that there were some pretty beastly players.

We're also planning something hype after the tourney, a sort of after party showcasing some of what MTL is known for to make this a memorable event for everyone.

So if you have faith in your skills or just want to have a good time, don't hesitate to drop by, everyone's invited. Be warned though, the MTL scene has some pretty gdlk players.

Here are the details of the event

Details are still being finalized so some of the stuff may be subject to change.

Feel free to contact us if you need more details, and I hope to see new faces:keke:

Eurogamer: Some fighting game fans consider Guilty Gear to be the greatest fighting game ever made. But which one do you consider to be the greatest?

Daisuke Ishiwatari: Street Fighter III: Third Strike. It's the nervousness between you and your opponent that gives me joy. You have to guess what the next move is by your opponent. That was the most fun thing about the game. It was so enjoyable.

guessing games all day son

OH SHIT SHOGUN... and crocop loses that night too. so depressing :(

Jon Jones is too strong... time to jump on that bandwagon. SAGAT TOO TOP TIER

On one hand, I'm geographically the closest to MTL.

On the other hand, I've played less fighting games over the past two years than anybody else from Van.

Plus they're playing BB, which I've barely played.

On the other hand.... POUTINE.

crocop, chuck lidell (sp?), and eric lindros all have one thing in common: repeated concussions.

MMA guys often fight more than once a year, but we've seen that some hockey players can get taken out for months as a result of post-concussion syndrome. I have to wonder if the one-on-one nature of combat sports, the need to stay relevant and in contention and all that makes people go back to training and fighting before they've actually fully recovered from being concussed.

Marvel 3 is the greatest fighting game this decade thus far. So mad hype that it raises the salt level of everyone who plays it by a high margin. And this isn't even including Alexey. Mike's Salty Suite.

Posted

i can only imagine the hype after we arrived at the conclusion that ray was reaching high salt levels with dante

Posted

enjoy the salt from me while you niggers still can, and I believe most of us reached a higher salt saturation than I did over the course of this fucking salty weekend.

haha stupid fucking marvel.

just like old times, this eventually will add up more to the Ray-salt-delivery milestone.

Posted

will never be like old times. Game is too unpredictable. You'll always get new salt Ray. Just change one character and you change the matchup.
