Chris Chaos Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 No lobbies? I honestly don't think larger lobbies are something that can be patched, that's gotta be something in the build of the game that cannot be changed. Either way, I can FINALLY use my converter for my PS2 controller for the game now, thank goodness! I'm not expecting much out of the netcode from this update anyway, I mean, they are using GSS again, the same guys who did the netcode for KOF XII... And remember that update patch? At least the game is thriving offline at least. I'll try out the online when I get back from class but I won't get my hopes up.

Same here, considering that GSS works better with SNK's PS2 games than KOF XIII. IIRC, SNK did a test of KOF XIII with GGPO as the netcode, and it didn't work well according to Yamamoto. If this game were to have an updated version or whatever, they should use another netcode, or consult Arc System Works on netcode assistance. Customize/Player Data seems to be fixed as well from what I heard, that means that the infamous color edit glitch is most likely resolved.

Man, I missed that one... then again, I didn't do much color editing with the game. OFF TOPIC: @MikelAL93: I've seen your name before, were you ever on the Ignition Forums some years back? That's probably where I remember seeing the name.

That's probably where I remember seeing the name. Why yes. I used to be in the Ignition Forums back then during 2009 to 2010. I used to post a lot in the KOF XII and General Gaming sections of those forums, those bring back a lot of memories. :D Glad to see that you were able to recognize me and/or my name, and like Bolverk mentioned, I can also be found in Dream Cancel. Back on topic: I finally got to upload some more color edits to my photobucket album: One of them are custom, the rest are cosplays/colors that are similar to that character. I can't wait to put you to the test now that you can use your native controller. :D Sure, it's not my native controller but it does do me well in other games. My native PS2 controller is in Michigan, I'll have that soon enough but this one is broken in pretty well. Why yes. I used to be in the Ignition Forums back then during 2009 to 2010. I thought I was right, it's nice to see someone from there, here lol! BTW my tag there was ShenWooUser then. I should hop on DreamCancel a little more since I can finally play the game comfortably now, LOL!
Vulcan422 Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 So, yeah. Got back on the game after the patch. Netcode is definitely more stable, but some lag still creeps through. In laymen's terms it's basically down from 1-frame input delay down to around 0.6 input delay. Sadly I see a lot of 0 bars (moreso than before), and when I fought a 3-bar person he was rank 15 and destroyed me. I had a feeling the patch would come too late, and I was right. Soul Calibur's netcode is still better. SNK Delaymore once again falls slightly short of expectations.
furix Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I decided to try out the netplay again yesterday with Greats... and ugh, still so bad... But I still pulled a full HD combo in like 1 second delay XD
Bolverk-GTM Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 (edited) I'm starting to think my internet is just something godlike. I don't have problems connecting to Texas OR Michigan and playing KoF XIII. In laymen's terms it's basically down from 1-frame input delay down to around 0.6 input delay. Sadly I see a lot of 0 bars (moreso than before), and when I fought a 3-bar person he was rank 15 and destroyed me. I'm no expert, but 1 frame of input delay isn't a lot at all. At 60 frames per second, even in a fighting game, 1 frame of input delay really is not enough to make a noticeable difference. Now 1 frame of input delay on NETPLAY? Godlike. That's like the other player is sitting right next to you. More realistically speaking, KoF XIII netplay on PSN (I can't vouch for XBL) will give you 3 frames of input delay at the VERY least (both players need some amazing internet for this to happen). As follows: - With most of my good connections, I experience anywhere from 3-5 frames of input delay usually and even 5 frames is fully playable (if you can get used to it). - Average connections are about 5-7 frames, which is a delay more than worth complaining about, but it's playable if you simplify combos to strictly bread and butter. - Bad connections are 8 frames of input delay or more (MUCH more). Just because Mexicans can play in this much delay, don't follow their example. Mexico ISPs use cockroaches to transfer data packets, so Mexican KoF players have no other choice if they want matches when no offline stuff is happening. Even on GGPO, Mexicans can lag pretty hard. If you're not in Mexico, you can complain about this much delay all you want. Matter of fact, if you know what's good for you, AVOID playing in this kind of connection. But yeah, the patch only really made finding good connections a bit easier with filter options and stuff. I had a feeling it wouldn't fix the netcode anyways. Since I could already find good and playable connections prior to the patch, I won't really complain. I had a feeling the patch would come too late, and I was right. Soul Calibur's netcode is still better. SNK Delaymore once again falls slightly short of expectations. Okay, that's fine. See you in a few days when you come back and post here again, supporting SNK Playmore and their game you complained about so much on the first week of release. Edited February 3, 2012 by Bolverk-GTM
Bolverk-GTM Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 netplay still sucks... that is all I still don't understand how it manages to work somewhat decent on PSN and then be so crappy on XBL. It's usually the other way around! *sigh* Leave it to SNK to find a way to do it.

Not to mention that while Mexicans have terrible connections with other KOF players like Americans or the Japanese, they always tend to talk trash or taunt others, calling them scrubbish, chicken (gallina), and all those other taunts. I blocked most of these Mexican players already, such as Plus1979. I thought I was right, it's nice to see someone from there, here lol! BTW my tag there was ShenWooUser then. Bolverk-GTM Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 (edited) I wonder if you can say the same for Oklahoma, though. Hell NO I can't. Our connection is ass, lol. I would like to have another session with you soon with the netcode patch. Eh, I guess we could make it happen. Eventually. Now now now... There's no need for that finger pointing and name calling. We do the same thing, just on a lower scale. Edited February 3, 2012 by Bolverk-GTM

But I still pulled a full HD combo in like 1 second delay XD You messed up right there, I live 2 states away from Greats and our connection is bad. I'm sure it was worse for you because you live all the way down in Texas, LOL! You should pop into Dream Cancel more often, and I would like to have a match with you in KOF XIII soon enough. I should, I have an account but I rarely post. I lurk that forum more than anything. I guess I can start contributing to the forums and get some games with you too. Hopefully our connection hold up.

Star-Demon Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Bolverk - Good news - the exact headset I wanted ot get for PS3 had an open box for sale at half price, so I got it for 14 bucks. We can have that session you suggested. Also - my neck and back won't hurt as much when I stream, now. oh god it sounds awesome. I love it.

SoWL Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Does that mean that there will be no educational walls of texts from hereon? I was actually enjoying them quite a lot.
SolxBaiken Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 So the arcade ver of XIII is getting an update, but it just might be to make it the same as the console.
Vulcan422 Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Heh heh...Climax. I'm fairly certain this is the update that adds in Heidern, Adel, Shion, and whoever else they want in. For now, they're just adding in Billy, Human Saiki, and the DLC characters.
Bolverk-GTM Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Does that mean that there will be no educational walls of texts from hereon? I was actually enjoying them quite a lot. Oh I'll keep posting the wall of text lectures. I just suggested to Star-Demon that we both use mics during matches so that it's easier to address situations and stuff. It's better than him asking me about how to deal with something later on because I'll probably raise an eyebrow and ask "What the fuck are you talking about?" You'd be amazed how fast I forget about stuff I did in a match. Heh heh...Climax. I'm fairly certain this is the update that adds in Heidern, Adel, Shion, and whoever else they want in. For now, they're just adding in Billy, Human Saiki, and the DLC characters. Possibly. Only time will tell. Also welcome back.
Star-Demon Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 I'm up for plying a little tonight. I had some offline matches today on an awful controller and I think I'm better than before, even though execution was much harder and I'm fundamentally bad.
Star-Demon Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 GGs - That worked much better than I expected with this game. I liked how much better I did. I'm surprised how much better my Mai is, when all I've been practicing is Vice. I should put some time into Mai, now, and work on nailing Vice's BnBs. Mind if I upload that one win? I probably should have saved that closer 2 char loss I had , but It slipped my mind. There'll be more.
