Skye Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Well now he's slightly improved, so now the nerf seems fine. See, it doesn't work both ways, it was always stupid, justifying the stupidity doesn't really make it not stupid. If that was the case, CS1 Arakune would have been a-ok.
Justice7541 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Does the new J.4C knockback mean he can't do his P1/P2 position combos ala J.4C> airdash J.4C>J.623B>corner combo He can do it with j.B too. Just a bit wonky on some hitboxes. Also is his 6D untech even good for anything other than that one gimmick j.D j236C 6D j236C 6D combo?
zdravkelja Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 CH 6D untech time is nerfed, there's nothing for normal hit. If you can hit it with 2B after CH, I wont really care... Now seriously, I'll be very satisfied if you could get at least 4k damage from command throw, around 5k with 100k. For me, more important are FRKZ combos, I really hope j.D and j.4C wont hurt it much. I think j.4C wont hurt so much, but slower j.D could ruin some finishers. And I doubt it will hurt B nail combos. As long as you can do j.C after it, I think it will be ok.
destruction_adv Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Does anyone know of a video with the new j4C? I'd like to see this
Dacidbro Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 (edited) Well IIRC they buffed the speed of jD then nerfed it.. maybe it's what it used to be again? iw2ma, I think you only think the command grab damage is fair because most other things about Bang are bad. If they improve the character, suddenly it really means a lot to get such huge damage, and as is there is zero thought concerning using the meter for it or not; you just always do it. Buffing other aspects of his game and nerfing reward for command grab is not only a very soft nerf in reality (Abusing the new risk reward is very possible, since people will be less scared of your command grab), but also gives new potential for using your meter in new ways. It's a good change, and killing people instantly for hitting a command grab was dumb. Edited August 15, 2011 by Dacidbro
zdravkelja Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I think they buffed j.D proration, not speed.
Star-Demon Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 LOL@ Guard Crushing with Daifunka!! TO RID THIS WORLD OF PRIMERS!
LuminAbyss Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I think they buffed j.D proration, not speed. I believe that was the change as well. Also I support the nerf to his command throw, as much as I loved rapiding it for damage as well.
iw2ma Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 lol it's true that if Bang was amazing in general than the grab nerf wouldn't hurt all that much, but from the updates i don't really see Bang as being buffed really as much as just changed. I don't know what he's like yet at all but just from reading it doesn't really sound as much as a good thing over just something.
destruction_adv Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Bang could be considered better on the fact his opponents were nerfed quite abit, and even if at very least he's still as good as he was. If the J4C nerf isn't too bad, you can also make up the difference in command grab damage by comboing crouchers.
Dacidbro Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Also, the changed defensive mechanics, particularly barrier IB, is a huge silent buff to Bang. The closer your opponent is when you are stuck on defense, the more hopeless he is, so having ways to quickly push your opponent out is a huge buff to him just through the system itself.
Chazmobile Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 But, the barrier buff is also a double edged sword for Bang. As I mentioned before, if he retains the pushback on his normals on block that he has in CS2, the barrier buff could severely harm Bang's pressure game as well.
Dacidbro Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Double edged sword, maybe a little, but Bang has such strong pressure and mix that realistically reducing that is not as big of a deal for him as other characters. It just won't be as autopilot as before, which is another good thing. Just think of how many times you may have been cheesed out by Makoto/Litchi pressure and thought to yourself "What the fuck was I supposed to have done about it?" Well, much less now. I really like these changes.
huey253 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 actually if they are doing the increased push out by higher attack levels, bang will be eating the worst of it. litchi and makoto's rushdown are both really strong and safe but I don't think its that bad right now.
destruction_adv Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I don't think we have too much to worry about Makoto anymore, but, pushback helps and hurts, but at the very least barrier is finite, so maybe we could find ways to make the opponent waste it (nothing comes to mind though) plus i think barrier has added blockstun (1 extra frame?) so maybe we could do something with that?
huey253 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 i'm not the devil :P i'm like 99% sure Bang vs Makoto is bang's closest matchup againist the top 4. its really not that bad.
DaiAndOh Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 i'm not the devil :P i'm like 99% sure Bang vs Makoto is bang's closest matchup againist the top 4. its really not that bad. Given she doesn't have any real range priority/invincibility minus DP...yeah pretty much.
Dacidbro Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 actually if they are doing the increased push out by higher attack levels, bang will be eating the worst of it. litchi and makoto's rushdown are both really strong and safe but I don't think its that bad right now. Well I think you're a dummy and I'm right Also to say Litchi and Makoto's rushdown are both really strong and safe but it's not that bad.. what do you even mean by that. I've seen you lose to Litchi/Makoto and not deserve to, and your defense is phenomenal.
huey253 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 i dunno, other then satoshi, i've won (by a big margin) more games than i've lost to any makoto i know. including heartnana. I always feel that i lose because i didn't play well enough, even againist Noel lol. I deserve every single loss i've gotten... Bang isn't that bad, I just didn't clutch it out at that specific time i guess. other than 2A 6B or run up 6B, makoto's gatlings into 6B make it not so bad to block. litchi's overhead is a bit slower, so its easier to block on reaction. using barrier at appropriate times can create spots for counter attack in litchi's strings if she isn't ultra careful. bang litchi is probably slightly in litchi's favor at worst, bang actually has good normals for fighting againist her.
Dacidbro Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Well, you would know better than I would. My defense is still a work in progress. I know I see you get killed by people who know how to reset their pressure with d2A though.
huey253 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 sometimes i overrespect my opponent's pressure. I'm working on that as well.
Dacidbro Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 I've been working on combining your respect with my disrespect, it's been helping a lot. Lol
