Milln Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Greetings from Middle Tennessee! I was directed to this thread by Tin Man. I'm about to go on vacation to Canada in the Toronto area for about eight days from September 30th until October 7th. I'd love to get some international practice in, especially since i'm extremely rusty right now and enjoy getting my butt kicked. I do have a busy schedule and might not even be able to play, but I'll could potentially be free on September 30th evening, October 1st, October 5th, and October 7th morning and will be at Playdium nearly all day on October 6th. Send me a pm if you're interested!
Roldy Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Hello Milln! Make sure you're free on Friday, because that's the best day to go to Lovegety Arcade, where Toronto's main BB scene meets up! Although it isn't exactly in downtown Toronto, so it might be a bit far... Edit: Continuum Shift @ Lovegety Station Arcade 505 Highway 7 East Thornhill, ON, Canada
Linear04 Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Playdium holy shit i havent been to playdium in forever sup guy, if you want to come to gety come on fridays and go to dinner with everyone
Milln Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 I will definitely try to be there. Is there a specific time? Friday is basicalyl the only day I -don't- have a major event planned, haha.
Roldy Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 7-8 pm is when most people start arriving. I usually go a bit earlier for a bit of warm-up, lol.
Milln Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Great. I'll see what I can do. Look for an awesome plaid hat.

Tofu Warrior Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 I think a lot of members here would be interested in this article. Don't know how often you guys check SRK for news, but yeah.
unsanctifier Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 I don't wanna make an SRK account, someone let me know what its about D:
Freezerburn Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 WTF, I have an account and I can't read it anymore. Basically, the article said how Arc Systems is going to focus on BB instead of GG and if GG were to come back, there would be no slashbacks and FRCs. The interviewer suggested more lenient FRC timings and while the staff member agreed it was a good idea, their goal is to make GG more accessible to people, essentially what Super 4 has done to the SF series. They want to make a new GG but it won't be for a while.
mr.mortified Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 you mean this? http://shoryuken.com/content/concerning-future-guilty-gear-1966/ its a news post so you don't even need an account also eww on no slashbacks and lenient FRC's edit: oh shit tofu linked it already? dammit didn't see that......
Fiedrik Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 aw that is horrible, horrible news...so they basically want to noobify gg.
X-Sapphire Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Wow that fucking sucks. I blame all the fucking scrubs today that can't fucking learn a real game. FUCK YOU SCRUBS!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH YOU TOOK AWAY MY PRECIOUS! MOTHERUFCK!
Asdferty Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 But if they are scrubs you should win anyways :| The best part about guilty gear is not just the incredible execution level, but it's really how diverse the game is. With BB, it feels like whenever I land a certain poke or hit, I know exactly what combo I should do to maximize damage and positioning. There isn't much in terms of originality. In GG characters and their strategies seem much more personalized, and you can easily tell players apart from others. I will agree that scrubs don't seem to realize that harder execution and combos means that when you land them, you feel that much better and satisfied. Not that I'm any good at GG (yet), CLSW loops give me fist pumping good feelings, but easy bnb's in melty blood or bb not so much. Obviously the hard combos still do that, but it's just everything in GG does it. I think people are looking at it the wrong way, because the only problem I have with guilty gear in terms of what I think is dumb is not FRC timing or anything that way... it's the dizzy meter and the stagger waggle. I think it's kinda out of place in this type of game, and stagger waggle is the fast way to broken arcade sticks And come on, guilty gear has awesome characters... but storyline? It's pretty messed up, if anyone plays GG it's for the gameplay, it seems like an unwise decision to change it drastically. BB has more lenient gameplay, but actually has a more thought out storyline and is more polished with extra stuff (VNs are good), so it will attract more casuals to begin with. tldr; guilty gear is good and shouldn't be changed, especially not for scrubs
Leo7 Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 yea i pretty much follow elvenshadow's blog, and i've already commented on this outside of dustloop. i'm just going to hope accent core has reached super turbo status and will live on for the next few years. and i actually don't think ggac is a high execution game. people always harp on frcs, but 2-3 timing is a LOT more lenient than 1 frame timing that's required for a myriad of other fighting games. but i guess it's hard enough for people to be turned off from the series.
Tin Man Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 KK well the date of the tourney will remain the same. Hopefully I can get 20 some people here. Anyone from gety who has nothing better to do and wants free money should go. hopefully cambridge can also reach. WTF, I have an account and I can't read it anymore. Basically, the article said how Arc Systems is going to focus on BB instead of GG and if GG were to come back, there would be no slashbacks and FRCs. Freezerburn Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Slashback is GG's version of parry. FRC is force roman cancel, which is like rapid cancel from BB but only takes 25% meter and can only be done during certain frames of animation, regardless if it hits or not. http://dustloop.com/guides/ggac/
Tin Man Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Thanks very much bro :] I'm also advertising the tourney on this website: http://www.blazblue.com/forum/index.php in case anyone cares (lol)
