I played against some red and a lot of grey.

I've got to start remembering faces, this is very confusing.

Just as a heads up for next time. It's Mihan, not Mihai. I think someone made that mistake with his name on SRK a long time ago and people have been calling that ever since.

EDIT: K2, I think that pic of POT is supposed to be for you since you Potted for most of the tournament.

Last question I'm going to ask, who is the pink Carl that has been on 40+ winning streaks both of the last times that I've been there (and that I perfected twice in the same match but still lost to)?

Zeero, a.k.a. Pui.

He is the greatest troll known to man.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Because MTL isn't coming anymore and Sauga isn't coming anymore, we are cancelling the BBCS tournament at TFNS.

There is simply no reason why gety regulars should bring their equipment and travel downtown and pay venue fee to play against each other.

Instead, we may end up hosting something at gety or just go to gety and play each other anyway, save on gas, save on troubles, save on venue fee

This is disappointing to say the least. When I heard about it on Saturday. How the staff of TFNS felt when a place was provided and then informed a day before because community leaders clearly just didn't want to be bothered. To kick me while i'm feeling down, people were asking "ME" about BB tournament when I didn't have an idea as well.

If you guys knew this was going to happen, more time should have been given to cancel. You could have expected it a few days before but a day before is just disrespectful. As an organizer myself, if somebody did that to me, I definitely consider not allowing them to participate in future events. To make matters worse, you guys had a tournament on Friday. WOW! It clearly showed that running a tournament in TFNS is a hassle.

BB can easily draw 20+ players for tournaments. You guys chose not to because outsiders are not coming (who cares), hard to lug equipment (things called cars), venue fee ($10 too much money?) or play same people (umm so what). That's such a weak sauce reason. You guys have to think about your up and coming players. It doesn't matter if you play the same people over and over, the point is to get tournament experience. I play the same people over and over in Tekken but we still hold tournaments because that's the whole reason we play each other casually. It doesn't matter if we have only 10 people that show up, we want to see what the results look like to see who progresses.

This is my whole opinion of the BB/GG community altogether and I don't care of I get shit on for this. To me, it looks like the really good people (you know who you are) think that they are really unbeatable that there's no point in holding a tournament because the results will always be the same. The mentality is then blindly passed around the whole community.

Tournament organizers should always think about community members that wanted to prove their worth that day. I'm sure they don't mind losing but gaining that needed boost from tournaments to reach a new level or atleast have a better understanding of it. I personally don't care if I lose to anyone of you casually, tournament results is what matters.

Sorry but like I said, i'm disappointed at the actions that happened this weekend. I'm known you guys a long time. I started BB with you. I just pray that some of your new players excel and beats the powerful players (I'll be one of them). Unfortunately, they won't be given the chance cause as the mentality in here goes, "the results will be the same anyway". I'm not mad just disappointed because I know what it feels like when tournaments get canceled a day before when it's been advertised for a month.

It wasn't Pui's fault for the cancellation. He was willing to go if we wanted to force a tourney at TFNS. The cancellation was mostly my fault, somewhere in between training for NEC and being alittle burned out with blazblue after we never got around to organizing for the TFNS tourney. It's not as simple as just specifying a date and location and thats that with our community. We have people from outside toronto, people who have no means of transportation, equipment need to be brought and setup. All this had to be organized but most of us put it off until last minute unlike the T tourney before where we planned for months ahead of time. Then at the last minute, quite a few people came up to me asking me if TFNS was still happening, people didn't want to go anymore and so late that night I made the call to just cancel things and possibly run it at LG.

I apologize if anyone took the day off for TFNS and ended up doing nothing. We were looking at the TFNS tourney as a end of year farewell CS tourney. While most tourneys I understand people want to test their skills against one another and see how far they've progressed but the TFNS tourney for us wasn't that.

We did run a tourney but it wasn't on friday. We ran it on saturday (day of the cancelled tourney) and it was very last minute hence low turnout (as expected). People played some bb casuals but most were just having fun. We decided to run GGAC singles like the old days and just have a good time.

I know we should of cancelled earlier and for that I apologize. Even if we did try and run it at TFNS I'm pretty sure it'd just blow up in our faces either way. I know I could of salvaged the situation a little better but having the LG tourney saturday was better then nothing.

We will make it up to people in January sometime with a bbcs2 kick off party at LG.

Hermes don't take all the blame, we all collectively said fuck it.

Russell :

- Our tournament was on saturday. The truth is it's not worth it for us to go to downtown, bring all our own equipment, and pay venue fee just so we can play each other. There is absolutely no incentive, zero. At the end of the day, this is the harsh cold truth.

- Your impression of the BB/GG community is correct. The top players have been the same for the past 10 years. This will not change anytime in the near future. You will not be one of the people to take out our top players (because I've heard that before and you gave up, just like every other scrub). This is not SF4 where some random scrubs can just show up and ultra us to win. We will continue to troll and troll until players step up and force us to play seriously. I also pray that some of the new players excel and beat us to a pulp. The top players are all dying for this. Please, PLEASE step the fuck up, all of you.

- Whatever scrubs asked you what's going on with the BB tourney at TFNS, you can tell them to come to gety. When we host a tourney at gety, we see nobody except the gety regulars. We don't see a point in travelling downtown to host a tournament for a few extra scrubs that we will never see again. My definition of a community member is someone who actively participates in community events, somebody who goes out of their own way to be recognized as part of the community. When we have to go to THEIR AREA so that they can prove themself, yeah, that shit ain't gonna happen. In the world I grew up, you go where the competition is if you want to prove something, you don't wait for it to come to you. These guys who asked you about the BB tourney are not community members, they are scrubs who have 0% chance at making top 5. They are scrubs who I will never ever see at a gety tourney. They are scrubs who will not contribute to this community in any way. And if you're reading this, come to gety and prove it.

- Yes we could have given notice a little earlier, we all owe an apology to the staff for the late notice. None of us were looking forward to this tourney. But nothing will change what happened. We're capable of much better, but there was just no incentive this time around.

- I will not however, apologize to any fucking scrub who made arrangements to make it out to TFNS in hopes of a BBCS tourney so that they can demonstrate how much they fucking suck. Why? Because tournaments are held at gety all the time. I've went out of my own way far too many times in hopes of pleasing the community, only to see people give up. So consequently, I've given up on the "community", and only play with my close friends at gety.

I tried to be as arrogant as possible in this post, because honestly I'm fucking disgusted at the competition today. Even with a game as braindead fucking simple as BBCS, the results are always the same.

It's not quite this simple.

I'm not going to speak for anyone but myself and some of you have seen me play so you know where I'm at. Where I am now is a result exclusively of my training mode (and random online games) time because the trip to Lovegety is unruly and expensive and it's entirely impossible to get regular offline play for myself. This isn't an issue of stepping "the fuck" up, this is an issue of the competition being so concentrated and so sparse at the same time that if you're not part of the narrow paradigm of known regulars, you're probably not going to be (regardless of your skill level) any time soon. This is compounded by the fact that nearly everyone who is good at BlazBlue treats the game as if everything known about it is obvious, making it hard for genuinely new players (IE players who didn't import their fighting game skill set directly from GG) like myself to get a crack at becoming good competition.

I am at Lovegety literally every chance that I get (which amounts to about once a month -- the whole trip costs me about $70 -- transportation + food + tokens -- and takes all day unless someone drives me, which is rare). I spend more than enough time in training mode, I practice pretty much every day and I'm constantly working on getting better. The notion that the lack of competition is because of people giving up is total BS; the Toronto scene is largely shackled up in one small arcade and breaking into it is nearly impossible for those of us who can't be there regularly. If there was a conscious effort to put out tournaments that were advertised somewhere other than this thread (I only heard about TFNS because I was fortunate enough to have a fellow Toronto player message me about it) I assure you, you will pull a larger and more varied scene simply because it's easier to justify the trip and these people you so affectionally refer to and generalize as "scrubs" will be more able and willing to put in the time needed to get better, because tournament results are RESULTS and because the community will seem less like the group-of-friends-in-a-public-space that it seems like now.

TL;DR If you guys treated the community like there were people worth playing against other than yourselves (even if that's not true at the moment), there would be more people worth playing against.

Sapphire, your 100% right.

Reading these last posts is pathetic. No one in toronto has any acceptable excuse as to why they can't come to getty. We show up almost every friday night. It's anywhere from 1 1/2 to 3 hour drive. You know how fun it is being stuck in a traffic jam for 3 hours? Just to play a fucking game. Yet we do it anyway.

TL;DR If you guys treated the community like there were people worth playing against other than yourselves (even if that's not true at the moment), there would be more people worth playing against.

Bullshit. Being one of those people not worth playing, not once did I feel any hostility or anything of that sort from anyone here, infact the people here are some of the best people I have ever met.

Worthy people come to meet a challege head on.

I suck at fighting games and I want to get better. The only way to get better is to come out and get destroyed every god damn week. When I started going to gety I didnt even consider myself at a level to say I played fighting games, I honestly still don't. Infact I hated fighting games, had no interest in them what-so-ever. I started playing them cause I met Tom and Kyl as pretty much my first real friends. Now i spend atleast 1-2 hours daily practicing.

I still suck, however this past year my skill level has easily trippled from what it was before comming to gety. As such I wanna thank everyone at gety for the past year of BBCS and for teaching me so much of it and GG. Without you guys I would still be getting mad when i could never beat anyone and being incapable of understanding what im doing wrong, That has changed.

I honestly was kindof sad when TFNS was called off since it ment we were no longer able to go to gety at all that week. With xmas this week, not looking to good. However, after that were keep comming, getting owned, and eventually be able to fight every one of you on even grounds.
