Valthazeryus Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 After I trim my hair today, I feel like picking up the game and learning Haku-men and Makoto for a bit.
Chumaralupa Posted August 8, 2011 Author Posted August 8, 2011 Jimmy, if your hair isn't fro-tastic next time I see you I'm going to denounce you as my disciple. I registered for BB at Devo since you have to pay to get in anyways, I might as well play. Justin I'll see you at your place on Friday for some grinding. Boy that sounds wrong.
Theupstreamer Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Jimmy I highly encourage you to learn makoto. It would be good for us and you. SAME TIME POST AS RUBEN <3 LET'S PLAY BLAZ TODAY RUBEN.
Valthazeryus Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I'm off by a minute. But yeah, I was talking to Justin about learning these two characters some long ass time ago.
Zeromus_X Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 (edited) Yeah Jimmy, you deserve a better character than Tager. I'm sure you'd have a lot of fun playing somebody new for a change. So who all else entered for Devastation? So far I got me, Justin, Ruben, Jimmy, Lorenzo, maybe Kevin? Just want to figure out who I should practice against the most get an idea of who all is going. Edit: Oh shit, has anyone seen this yet?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpCRPzFj450 Edited August 8, 2011 by Zeromus_X
Theupstreamer Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I think Jimmy is holding himself back from really learning more techniques and strategies. Right now he's learning only one kind of play style (setups and shit) when I personally think he should expose himself to a character that focuses on more conventional fighting game tactics like footies or maybe even zoning. I think it really is a matter of just becoming more well rounded for the sake of getting better and knowing how other people using other strategies will come at you. I mean if you really like Tager you can just come back to him, but I'm always down for alt adventures haha. SOMEONE PLAY MY RACHEL
Valthazeryus Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 To be honest, Tager will always be my main. Something about him just always makes me hype. I think Justin can relate to me on this one. Other than that, I wish to just learn new subs. To be honest, I wanted to learn the whole wheel, but mainly the highest tier character for each game, in this case, Makoto, and Haku-men on the side, because his character design really isn't that bad.
Hateraid Red Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 (edited) bang is secretly godtier... forever. bang may be low on the list, but as a character with so much utility.. I never truely feel completely helpless. It's hard to label a character like that bottom tier. You have to rely on good reads, but have all the tools to set those reads up. bottom tier with amazing potential, yo I understand not wanting to give tager up, and you shouldn't but you should have a secondary. tager is just like bang, except without any of the tools to make things happen or make the right reads. he just has wild guesses and some minor training tools. his hitbox, mobility, normals, and specials make everything risky. Spiteful Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 (edited) Don't worry about it, Spiteful. But I do worry about it! :O I really wish you would play me more, I always thought you were one of the better players in our community. But it was only one time that you said you didn't feel like playing against Noel, so I hope we can play some in the future :D Most of the SF players talk about having tier players in their community is important for getting experience and playing well at bigger tournies, so having a dedicated makoto player serve us all well. My 2 cents. Edited August 8, 2011 by Spiteful

But it was only one time that you said you didn't feel like playing against Noel, so I hope we can play some in the future :D I wish I could play more against noel and less against her drive. she has some retarded normals you should exploit. too good to continue ignoring. ps not being mean; just stating you'd be 10 times scarier Edited August 8, 2011 by Hateraid Red
Spiteful Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I wish I could play more against noel and less against her drive. she has some retarded normals you should exploit. too good to continue ignoring. I use 2A, 6A, 6B, 2C, 5C, 3C, j. B, j. C. What else should I be using? I tried using 5A the way Tokido did, still trying to get used to that.
Hateraid Red Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 you should use them outside of a combo. being predictable even with an awesome drive is no bueno. I just think if you did more fakes to bait peoples bad habits and had a tighter nuetral game it would be much harder to even touch you. just sayin'. I spend, 45 seconds of the match dashing around into space just so it looks weird.
Hateraid Red Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 gdlike I know, right? Now if only our normals didn't suck half as much bang would be ... pretty dang good
Valthazeryus Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 gdlike Huey moved into AZ... thread. Other than that, I agree with Justin. You seem a little too D-trigger happy from times. From Japanese videos, I get more frightened by her normals. Omfg.
Hateraid Red Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 (edited) I really didn't think I used D much at all outside of combos T.T I just realized you went from talking about me, to talking about noel D. I feel smart. I'm still going to link you the godliness that is zanzan d smasher maximum zero Edited August 8, 2011 by Hateraid Red
huey253 Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 hateraid red is a pretty cool guy. he defeated the cat chair!
Theupstreamer Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 He also defeated my heart ='[ (Now it takes refuge in Tommy)
M19Kamikaze Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 It's official, guys. I am no longer wise. This means I need to play the most retarded characters in the game since Lambda is just too far beyond my mental processing. So who should I flirt with before Devo happens? /sarcasm Translation: My wisdom teeth are now gone and it hurts like hell
Valthazeryus Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Learning Makoto is fun. There is so much boob physics that I actually don't mind sitting down and failing all these parries and combos. Well, since I picked her up, there's no quitting now.
Zeromus_X Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Are you really planning on picking up a different character Marq? But yeah, hang in there, hope you recover quickly. Eat lots of yogurt.
Spiteful Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I tried to use more normals last time we played, but they seem to just get beaten out a lot by other characters' normals, which makes me want to switch to drives. Feels like the mind set is to make the opponent scared to use their normals by using drives, then start using normals once they try playing around the drives. This is something I'm still trying to get used to. Not trying to be difficult, just sharing my opinions and ideas about how to play Noel. Also, if you didn't notice, all my big damage combos (outside of the corner) have to start with D (unless I land a raw 3C into haida loop), so I often feel really motivated to use drives since the risk/reward ratio is highly in my favor. Hope this gives an idea of why I play the way I do, and I'm still open to all suggestions and ideas.
Valthazeryus Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 OMG! What is this jump cancel for comboing that Tager never had?! What is this miracle?!
