Ryd' Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Fun stuff today. Awesome playing GG again (I lied Mehraj, it's only been...probably a little over a year since I last played...we're still cool, right?), and lots of fun with P4A. All...3? 4? people I played...but long sets are awesome, so it's all good.
LegendaryRath Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Did anyone take pictures? I want to feel as if I were there.
M19Kamikaze Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 >Has work at 8AM >Stays at Ruben's to get ass kicked by robo-arms and AMAZING head jobs till 3AM >1 1/2 hr drive home >Fuck Sleep Dem Labrys mirrors will give me nightmares. 2B vs j.B battles ALL DAY. No one wins, lol. GGs, guys
Orrax Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 GGs to everyone, and thanks to Ruben for hosting. I will learn how to hitconfirm with Chie someday, I swear. And it has been way too long since I played GGAC. Can't wait for +R. I want my free Fafnir back.
i2agnarok Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Fun stuff, guys. I'm definitely going to train up so I won't be so free to Ray. :P It was nice seeing you guys after so long, and meeting the rest of you. Thanks again for having me, Ruben.
Hateraid Red Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 it's okay. ray does that to everyone
Chumaralupa Posted September 15, 2012 Author Posted September 15, 2012 No pics, but if you could imagine a scenario where everyone ended up getting heart strokes, then your mental image is probably close to the truth. Marq, I think you could have ducked just about everything I did with Alisa, I dunno a good mid move that launches or anything.
LegendaryRath Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 No pics, but if you could imagine a scenario where everyone ended up getting heart strokes, then your mental image is probably close to the truth. I'm scared to attend these things now....
Hateraid Red Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 i found some really awesome ways to avoid teddy's 5b and 2b and land big damage... hopefully i can put them into practice
M19Kamikaze Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Hey, Ruben. Did you find a spare HDMI cord lying around? If so, it's probably mine. It's amazing how much I forgot about Tekken. I used to play it a lot before meeting you guys. And now I play it thinking, "Oh, I can get grabbed even while crouching" pff lol

Justin, if those strats are movement oriented rather character specific that mainly deal with your moveset then let me know about it so I can think about my options as Aigis, in my situation it might help me against both Teddie and Yu.
LegendaryRath Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 i found some really awesome ways to avoid teddy's 5b and 2b and land big damage... hopefully i can put them into practice besides just rolling through them, what can you do?
Hateraid Red Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 there's a few I found that are move related. other than that I learned the perfect spacing to avoid 5b and 2b at the same time and score a free counter hit combo on whiff as well as set ups to put you in that spacing. it's extremely ambiguous. I also have a few ways to score a meaty wake up attack with yu combos. I don't get oki with izanagi but I do get traditional wake up
LegendaryRath Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 I don't get oki with izanagi but I do get traditional wake up I would imagine you would have to pretend to be Kanji and go for one time oki on wake-up, since traditional oki with 5D wont work on Teddy. Good to see you're finding things to help with your crappy match-up.
Theupstreamer Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Justin you should just fake a jump in with jump c and see how that works. It's awesome for chie lol
Hateraid Red Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 (edited) but chie's hits standing characters, right? mine doesn't do that sadly chie's hitbox is superior ...and by hitting standing characters, I mean if you were to jump and immediently hit c, it would hit standing characters... i don't know if we're talking about the same thing.... but even as a jump in... it won't CH anti airs very well it has tons of horizontal range, but that's it Edited September 16, 2012 by Hateraid Red
Theupstreamer Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Yeah I mean just telegraph a jump in to make sure they try to 2b. Then do a jump c or some other move to stop your momentum so that you don't fall into the down b and punish. I think chie is the best at it
Hateraid Red Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 oh, i don't think it works well against teddie's 2b.. it has too much vertical range. I tried a bunch of different things but if you delay yourself just out of range with a j.c or double jump he has enough time to 2b you again. it sucks dick. it's easier to keep the right range
LegendaryRath Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 teddie's 2B is god-like. It's a good thing his damage off it isn't nearly as good as my characters. I've had success with kanji's j.C to actually beat it for a fatal, but it's rare and the spacing sucks. Usually people can see what i'm doing from a mile away. At least it scares them enough to start respecting my jump-ins occasionally. Side note... Just watched the (new-ish) spiderman movie at Pollack. Damn, it was 1000 times better than the other series. Thank god it wasn't 90 minutes of "RESPONSIBILITY" and internal conflict. Sheesh, what were they ever thinking. I really likes the new one overall.
Theupstreamer Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Justin try it with chie. It will probably work
Hateraid Red Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 I will try later tonight, but you should try it too. if you can get it to work you can show me if i'm doing it wrong
Theupstreamer Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 I was doing it to cedric last night
i2agnarok Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Sadness. I dunno how well it would work against Teddie, though. The hitbox is ginormous on his 2b. With the range you'd have to be at to bait the 2b without being in its range, it almost feels like he'd have more time to react to your movements. I think it may work with Chie, but I dunno how well the same thing would work with Narukami....his j.C also seems like it has a longer animation in general, as well. So those 2 things combined seems like it would be a bit harder to implement than with Chie against Teddie.... But I'm ass at this game, so best to test it among yourselves. :P
Robawtninja Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 (edited) Lol but Ray aren't we trying to find an answer with Yu and not with Chie? :P Edit: How much delay do you get on the divekick Justin? If there's enough you can CH him and combo afterwards. Also if there's not a lot of delay, maybe quick double jump into divekick will work? Edited September 16, 2012 by Robawtninja
Hateraid Red Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 ray, i know it works on yu's 2b, but we're talking about teddie's 2b. the divekick thing might work, but i don't like it as a move in general. if it's not done at the minimum height you get no + frames from it, and if it isn't counter hit that's the end of your pressure
