But I'd like to get an interest check before sacrificing my Friday night for only 2 people to show up. Fuck, maybe if we get enough people I'll bust out the BBQ again. I'm interested, but I feel that there's only a small chance I could make it. I'll be able to make most of this stuff after the next Hazbat's. BBQ is pretty enticing, though....
Hateraid Red Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 So I watched the match vids for the HazBats Grand Finals, seriously Justin, I already knew you lost but I couldn't help thinking that you were going to win. As dildos as that matchup definitely is, combined with the fact that you have so little Teddie experience you handled that really well. That damn Teddie 2B has great coverage and his crossup potenial is up there. I like how you blocked the crossup AoA once and instant blocked it, although I'm sure the instant block was just a late reaction to the fact that the damn move was going to crossup, still looked pro. My question though is, could you R-action between Teddies sweep and the fish that comes out? I know it's not airtight blockstun and he's in the sweep animation until the fish is done hitting you, just wondering if maybe that was a tool you could utilize to make Teddies stop sweeping you in a blockstring. It's something I still need to test. I haven't really played persona since the ranbats so there's a lot of things floating in my mind that I'm trying to improve before putting it into practice. I think that instant blocking the first hit of the sweep and then r actioning may be a valid way to get him off. plus if the r action is a counter hit i get free oki (izanagi-less sadly) but it's wakeup nonetheless. There's a lot I need to improve on in this game still. I gotta figure out a way to slow down everyone's offense; make it all run at my speed. That's only going to come with time

LegendaryRath Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Playing against my friend who mains teddy, and Dave occassionally, I know that you can roll through the bat for a free punish. Obviously, it's not worth doing unless you have good reason to think that he'll use it, but it can save this match-up for characters like Kanji. The same thing goes for Aigis' 2B. teddy's 2B has (probably) the best hitbox as an anti-air in the game. So I would expect him to go for it a lot. Try using moves to stop your momentum outside of his range and (hopefully, probably character dependent) go for the punish. Maybe you could use the move where Izanagi comes down from the sky. I haven't used him enough to know it's input or usefullness. Just a thought. Just in case, I'll be sure to eliminate marvin for you next time. The way I play kanji, Teddy is nothing. Seriously though, I play against Teddy way too freaking much. Why can't my friends play normal characters? Although, I will say that I think he's adorable. The way he waddles in fast-forward while he runs is so hilarious, especially after a counter hit bat.
i2agnarok Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 From my limited experience, it seems like DPing before the fish comes out is extremely dependent on the spacing and how you blocked the sweep. At close distance, the fish hits earlier, but Teddie is more vulnerable. At max range, there seems to be a large enough gap to dp through, but if you don't react in time, he's safe. IBing the sweep itself at this distance looks like the best course. As far as playing Friday, I'd need an address, but I'm completely free Friday.

I might be able to ditch them, but it would be great if we could like do it next week or something. All in all I really want to get some actual match experience in. Training mode is fun and Naoto's combos are super sexy, but i am going to suck from not having actually played anybody other than my roommate (for whom this is his first fighting game).

I'm not trying to sound arrogant, but I think I could take him. At the very least we would go back and forth. You're right, people need to start baiting 2B more, regardless of the character. With kanji, I can actually PUNISH people for trying to 2B me for a free 5K without meter. Man... a P4U night sounds fantastic, but I doubt I can go. It's eating me up inside. Does anyone have a timeframe in mind? Knowing when and how long would be helpful for me.

I'm going to try and prepare the food for grilling beforehand so that I can actually play ('cause unlike Blaz I actually wanna play this game with you guys). Please wear clothes that you don't mind getting hairy. John I really hope you can make it, I wanna grind out the Kanji and Mitsuru matchups as much as possible before the next Hazbats, I got pretty messed up by Kanji tonight and I realized it's something I haven't really played against yet that's definitely going to be a big problem. I got some info on the UAT stuff, it looks like we have a room every Saturday opposite the Hazbats so if we can get a big enough turnout there we can do the Danisen thing that Justin was talking about before. As for next week, if this Friday doesn't turn out to be a disaster then I'll probably be fine doing it again next Friday, but I might have already made plans so I'll have to see if I can not-bring-it-up-and-hope-they-forget-about-them within the next week.
