SolxBaiken Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 advance guard doesnt avoid chip damage right NO (it only did this in TvC), it reduces it but you most definitely still receive it, it just allows you to gain some spacing between you and your opponent.
Alex073088 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 NO (it only did this in TvC), it reduces it but you most definitely still receive it, it just allows you to gain some spacing between you and your opponent. a full screen of spacing, and its braindead to time it properly. throws however are very good. a throw and kill u in this one
Edalborez Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 If I ever decide to troll online, I'll just aim Shinku Hadoken completely the wrong way all the time. Oh wait that's not trolling I do that anyways (Disclaimer: I don't use Ryu, honest!)
Tsuki Garyuu Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 undecided main teams and mixes so far. X-23/Zero/Spencer X-23/Felicia/Spencer X-23/Deadpool/Dormamuu X-23/Zero/Super Skrull I'm maining x-23, but I can't decide on the others. Felicia's 623M follows up as both a feint and a follow-up if timed correctly. Dormamuu's projectiles have certain priority. As for Super Skrull, anyone notice how his Death Penalty's movement is fixed? I would do a air combo smackdown, do Meteor Smash, then follow up with Death Penalty. If I'm to the right of the stage, Death Penalty moves to the left, which why my follow-up DOES connect when I'm to the left of the screen.
Edalborez Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) Death Penalty's position depends on the two buttons you use L+M = left L+H = middle M+H = right Relative to the screen, so you always use L+M if you wanna be left. Taskmaster's arrow super angle is changed in a similar manner. Surprisingly liking Skrull, Cap, and Wesker. Will have to make some combo of Hsien and Zero with that bunch and brainstorm some teams. Also assist aren't affected by AG.

DogsofWar Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Anyone else think the graphics are kinda weak during the win poses? On the plus side, the game plays like Blazblue for retards, so all my friends can enjoy it :D

SolxBaiken Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Anyone else think the graphics are kinda weak during the win poses? Actually the graphics aren't all that impressive actually, hidden by the pace and blinding and multitude of effects on screen, the win poses just show you how meh they are since you seen them zoomed in. They say the game runs on the latest version of MT Frameworks but it's probably the weakest game to run on the engine, and honestly production values on the game are kinda sad in general (1 intro/win pose for everyone? One set of voice sets despite the potential for GG/BB dialogue, HORRIBLE lip syncing which is actually just preset movements for the one pose..., and lots of other small things which I usually wouldn't nitpick about but lately Capcom has been favoring graphics over gameplay, kinda glad they went the opposite route this time around). Of course this isn't to say the game looks bad by any margin, it just could've been better, especially considering what it was running on.
Kyosuke Kagami Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 MAHVEL 3 looks okay actually. It doesn't look like lol monkeys like SSF4
SolarMisae Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I'm really enjoying this game actually, didn't think I would like it as much as I do. Gotta love that LOLdamage. I'm currently running Wesker/Tony Stark/LeiLei.

I forgot is this a fighting game or another JRPG/visual novel?
Tsuki Garyuu Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 (but lately Capcom has been favoring graphics over gameplay). I haven't seen any recent Capcom game that did that except maybe Sengoku Basara 3. Then again, they've also done action over difficulty lately.
DogsofWar Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 If you know how to do an Aerial Combo, you're ahead of the pack already. Damn, i should've went online tonight, i can already do ground to aircombo with 3 switches :P But my button jamming friends actually beat me a few times. You get carried away and forget to block alot in this game. It's alot of fun, i'll give it that. The characters are a LOT more balanced than i thought they'd be. I thought my Darkstalkers girls would be gettin spanked by Sentinal but it's been the other way around for the most part.
Edge Reaper Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) I haven't seen any recent Capcom game that did that except maybe Sengoku Basara 3. Then again, they've also done action over difficulty lately. Not so recent, but RE5 was a good example. Looked damn good, but you still couldn't move while you were aiming.... Also, I stand corrected on my Aerial Combo Post. If you know your characters AT ALL, you're golden. Also, why does Zero feel so stupid to me...Zero is the only character that has caused me any sort of trouble that I couldn't tie into stupid mistakes. Edited February 16, 2011 by Edge Reaper
Edalborez Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 So far I'm rolling with... Hsien / Hulk / Wesker Hsien / Doom / Zero And doing the cheap shit with uber pendulum swap assist. So 3rds are the real leads. I expect to be punished for this if I face anyone who can mash buttons better than I can Liking the DHC synergy with what I've got, but the latter team is missing out on meterless OTG fun. *shrug*
lime93 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Been playing the game since midnight release and i already hate the MvC3 people in ranked nothing but jump back projectile with Deadpool and Ryu hopefully people will get better with the game cause i hate chasing people around the screen and i can't even run. the game isn't bad it's just most of the people i come across playing, they play it using noob SFIV tactics. Found a good team though in Chun-Li/Viper/Sentinel
rei-Scarred Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Too bad the netcode isnt worth playing or I'd smile every time I ran into a Dante scrub cause I found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SZPml0h8BI

Found a good team though in Chun-Li/Viper/Sentinel At least it isn't an MvC2 style keepaway team with Storm flying at the top edge of the screen spamming HP for meter while calling Sent and CapCom assists to zone you out. That said, kepaway and playing lame will always have a place in Marvel. Too bad the netcode isnt worth playing or I'd smile every time I ran into a Dante scrub cause I found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SZPml0h8BI Any perceived lag is most likely due to your connection or your opponents. The game runs smoothly online (better than SSFIV) as long as you've got a decent connection. Edited February 16, 2011 by the_d3v
moofpie Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I love Spidey pressure, but his range is so blegh. All my wins have been with Amaterasu and Tron. Maybe it's because I'm kinda playing him like Hazama, lol. Meh, I still suck at this game. Oh, and I ran into an Arthur, MODOK, and Dormammu team. The entire screen was filled with crap. This game is fun but pretty annoying.
bbq sauce Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 So does this game have blockstun? It seemed like, everything on block just leads to me getting 2A'ed out of the next move I do.
Sechs Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) Too many Wesker/ Dante/ random choice teams last night. I just run with Amaterasu, Hsien-Ko, and Doctor Doom. The fighting lobby seems like a step backwards, but I'm sure Capcom has a reason for making players watch 2 stat cards duel it out. Edited February 16, 2011 by Sechs
Blade Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Once again, I'm not touching this game till I hear more problems/things get solved, and possibly a price drop. :O
