Fatal By Nature Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Just wondering if its possible to play Litchi well on a controller. I was in a room with some pretty good Litchi players and they kept talking about how its next to impossible to play with her to her full potential unless you have a stick. I have no intension of buying a stick so should I just drop her? I want to be able to play a character to their fullest not just be half assed with them.
Lord Knight Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Just do what's comfortable for you. If you practice enough I'm sure you can play pad. Don't worry about stick unless you have an arcade near you that has tournies.

I dont plan on going anytime soon though so I guess I'll stick with her and try to get her down on Pad.
Nakkiel Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 It's absolutely possible to play her on pad, don't listen to your friends. LK's post is right.
Fatal By Nature Posted September 6, 2010 Author Posted September 6, 2010 Any of you guys know a good controller setup for her? I see alot of her combos require a D hold. I was considering making D into RB
Nakkiel Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 When I still played on pad Square = A X = B Circle = C Triangle = D worked just fine for me. You could try using your shoulder triggers if that feels awkward for you.
Poizonous Flour Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 I still play pad with Litchi, but the inputs feel more natural in stick. It is possible to play pad and be decent with her... especially in BBCS. My setup is, Square = B, Triangle = A, Circle = C, X = D... It is very possible to play Litchi with pad, as LK says, you just have to practice.
Spud Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 She's completely do-able on pad. I play her on stick now, but there's several combos I consider easier on pad. Just personal preference.
STenSatsu Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Can do pretty much everything but fastfall easily on a pad. Could do fastfall with some practice and b+c on r2 I'm sure. I highly recommend binding drive to R1 though, it's amazing.
ril213 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Whenever I play pad with her I usually play with my 2 fingers (index/middle) on the buttons to do her combos easier, but most of the time I play on stick with litchi.
Cornix Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 She is much easier to play on stick, assuming you have the practice with a stick (I had/stillsometimesatrandomhave troubles with DP on stick while I could do it fine on pad, which everyone has told me is weird) but for the most part it's going to be significantly easier and faster to learn her on stick, there is absolutely no reason you can't do her stuff on pad, you may have to tinker with things to do it right, but it's doable. For BBCT (on xbox) I went x=a y=b b=c a=d rb=a+b rt=b+c lb = a+b+c lt= a+b+c+d) and it worked out. But when I started picking up friend's sticks and playing, once I got used to inputting the combos on sticks I saw how much easier and more consistent sticks are with her combos. Just be patient and sometimes (especially with the 360 controllers) it's not always YOUR fault the combos don't work, you might have to adjust the motions a bit to work with pad and not get different inputs.
vXv RUSH vXv Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 I use the default button settings on a 360 controller and i play mighty fine. ^-^
Neo Cyrus Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) I play fighting games with pads... CS being no exception, Litchi is very playable with a pad and I don't know why anyone would say otherwise. Though for some it would be useful to have a pad with a 6 face button configuration and a real d-pad (as in what Nintendo and Sony systems use, instead of a fake d-pad on top of an oversized axis like M$ systems use), AFAIK there is no such thing. Even the Street Fighter 4 fight pad uses a fake d-pad. The fake d-pads are utterly unusable for fighting games unless you're still wet behind the ears... growing up using them and therefore it's what you're (unfortunately) used to.
