Blackgenma Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 aww man, that bad huh? and I totally don't agree with Kou on the Sol comment, though I agree about Ky. he's really well rounded. Edit: thinking about the video again, I was playing on a really basic level, shame on me. I'm no good!
Blackgenma Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Rocking that double post. Kimera(Ky) vs Paruga(KY) http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/1265649116 underworld hill 2 myep. these matches teaches you how to play on this map pretty well.
PandaKingEX Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 You started the match poorly. A poor start with Sol means that you have no momentum for pretty much the whole match, so you need to work on starting strong with Sol, since his servants are going to get beat out in the long run. IMO, on that map you should hit the outside first, because the middle just gets way too messy, and hard to control without a concrete strategy.
Blackgenma Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 haha, I did EVERYTHING wrong in that match. starting on the inside is what I always do, I don't know how to control the sides very well at all. should I run along side the outer ring and leave drills there? I also didn't release blades at all that match, because 1) they are insanely expensive and 2) everyone releases mobile units against Sol because the only other unit Sol has that is worth bringing out are blades. all I had on the field were drills, a queen, a firewheel and an engulfer. in retrospect, I may have released the queen too early, and I should have spamed more drills for map control...maybe, I don't know, I was a mess. there was a part in the first round were I was stuck what to do next, so I kind of just stood there staring at the minimap, it was hilarious (I was on the right side of the map when that happend) I released the queen early because I assumed he would spam gauntlet bodies early, but I was wrong about that too.
Sol.Badguy Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Man it always seems like a conflict what to unlock first with sol, My opinion is basically always blades, yet still spam drills. groups of drills with 2 blades in em if they spam mobiles/groups of blades with 3 drills in em if they don't. Seems to work out pretty well, I beat that gale914's ky with ease with my Sol so I'm not complaining yet.
Blackgenma Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm6925077 this is a rather unremarakable video of a 2 vs 2 following the actions of a Sol player. it's really nothing special unitl the last....30 seconds or so. GG2 wiki said that Sol was the best character for Suicides, and this video demonstrates why. I had no Idea you could own masterghosts that fast. the three set ups for when you start a match with sol are... Drill and queen (my favorite) Drill and Blade Drill and Gigant (I use this in 2 vs 2 only, or when I'm desperate.) taken from GG2 wiki
NeoVid Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Haven't played much lately, thanks to the Raven frustration and the huge pile of used games I was recently given, but the vids I've been watching have made me wonder: How do you do that charging slash that Ky uses to hit enemies when they're down?
Blackgenma Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 what slash? be more specific. Ky players usually hit downed enemies with (L)x. it's a vertical slash that hit's opponents on the ground. I don't know if that was what you wanted to know or not. your not talking about holy brand are you? Kimera cryin(Ky) Vs makemakerou(Ra) http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm9653198 (Round 1-3) http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm9653483 (Round 4 & 5) Illiria2
Xithmos Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Is it me, or is the nico nico re-director not working? You haven't played Guilty Gear 2 in ages Panda. AudioHaddock is back and wants revenge.
PandaKingEX Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 What does AudioHaddock want revenge on? I think he spent more time owning me, then I did him. Pretty much the only time I can ever beat Audio is when I use Ky, since Audio is so insanely aggressive, and Ky has many ways to stop aggression. The way Audio plays is just so wtf. He spams melee units, and runs all over the place hitting random things without a care in the world
Blackgenma Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 AdioHaddock's play style is annoying if your his partner in 2 vs 2, because his aggression gets him killed. I once beat him in a 2 vs 2 with Izuna. My Izuna is laughably bad. I love 2 vs 2 , because it let's me beat players who are 100x better than me. funny that you say that Ky has many ways to stop aggression, because I believe the only way to take him down is being aggressive and not letting him build up his army. I don't know, maybe it's because I play Sol so much, but I feel his army is nigh impenetrable in many cases when it's developed.
Sol.Badguy Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 What are you guys putting audiohaddock so high up for?? He's a decent player, but I wouldn't say he's really good. Does he honestly give you guys that much trouble? I was surprised with conte too, I though he was better than he really seems to be... Maybe I just get lucky more often than I should.
Blackgenma Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 in 1 vs 1, he kicks my ass for free. but then again, everyone does, so what do I know?
PandaKingEX Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Audiohaddock isn't really that good for how much he has played, but he is the first person that I played online with, and the person that I spent the most time playing online with, so his overwhelming playstyle is hard to tolerate when you have no clue what to do. On top of that, he was the one that I modeled a large portion of my Sol playstyle off of, so it was easy for him to beat me all the time when I played as Sol. Back in the day when I used to sit online 24/7, me and audio played all the time, especially since we were like the 2 outcasts of the online community that were avoided by most other players. Most Japanese players stopped playing with me once I became decent, which I'm assuming is because they didn't like fighting against someone good with all the lag you get when playing with them, which I can understand, because the lag is very annoying at times, and sometimes you feel like you get cheated, but I was so desperate for matches, and audio seemed pretty much the same way, so we played often. On a sidenote, though. We were pretty kickass in 2v2, because we would just be insanely reckless in how we played. Spamming drills and flying all over the place with Bandit revolvers definitely worked in our favor.
Blackgenma Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 jp stopped playing you when you got decent? haha, what faggots, I deal with their skill and lag now because I have no choice, and I have accepted the fact that bullshit is unavoidable. it comes with the territory you can say. reversals not coming out and random teleportation is abundant!
Ayumu Gardevoir Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Also fluctuating health, and the ability to not use items.
Blackgenma Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I don't think the item one happened to me yet, but the health is a common one. you ever hit a ghost in the countdown of a round only to have it not change alignment, even after hitting it about 3 times? strange stuff. Kimera Cryin(Ky) Vs Hiropon Shock (Izuna) http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm9664145 Triora Edit: question: ky and sin players like to overdrive your units in the beginning of a match. how do you prevent this? I don't like my mana getting wasted like that. Should I chase the enemy master? or do I have to just accept they're gonna get killed? I also tested out the nico video re-director, it works fine still.
Sol.Badguy Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 question: ky and sin players like to overdrive your units in the beginning of a match. how do you prevent this? I also tested out the nico video re-director, it works fine still. Haha oh MAN I hate that, I think I still hate paradigm overdrive at my base more though. Also, lol at the fluctuating health, going from 400 to 20 and back to 400 then dying in one hit Anyway, interesting side note. My friend(who I'm sure is reading this >.>) just bought raven and he was messing around with the crow a bit. He said that when it attacks a master it doesn't really do damage obviously, but it takes their tension away. With servents it hits them and takes 1/3 of a full exp bar every hit too. I still think it's a completely useless summon, but hey, least it does something? Oh, and I can't figure out why YOGIRI won't add me. Maybe he doesn't like getting raped by my Sol everytime I fight him?
Blackgenma Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Sol, every time you post something that you think is new, it is something that is already known, and recorded in my guide. does it matter? no, but its a little annoying. Raven's summon is plenty useless, even if it steals tension from masters. I think it sends the tension it steals from masters to Raven, but I'm not too certain about it. it is supposed to act primarily as a distraction against enemy servants, according to a guide that was translated. I feel that when Sin spams his humming sword in a fight, he can overwhelm an enemy master. get up to 3 of them out, and Sol will have an even harder time hitting you. it's a shame this summon is so underused. looking forward to some Sol vs Sol matches on Sunday, which is when I most likely will be able to get on. I think I'm gonna start picking up paradigm again, though I warn you, I'm pretty inadequate with him.
Sol.Badguy Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Meh. It informs people who don't have time to read your guides I guess. Anyway, I agree people seem to underestimate humming sword. When I played a lot of sin I would ALWAYS buy humming sword first round and use it continually throughout the match. Too bad hunchback isn't that good anyway yea I'm looking forward to some matches too. Hopefully some 2v2's mainly but 1v1 is always fun too. I just don't like same character 1v1s very much.
Blackgenma Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Hunchback is....situational. it really isn't all that against another master, but it's primarily for Sol to get some serious back-up when he's facing servants. armors and magics in particular, ESPECIALLY elites (Sol doesn't really need back up for magics, but whatever) because it's a mobile, it's good against everything but melee's (remember that mobiles have a slight advantage over range that the game never tells you!). pull this thing out on a bone bitter and it becomes much easier to kill (especially when you have 3 of them out at once). I know it really isn't saying much, but this minion is the best out of all the minions when it comes to servant slaying. though not that great against masters, it has its uses. the chilli ball attack holds master in place for a power attack, and if the master blocks the chilli ball, HE'S STUCK! just like a rapid fire. all of Sol's units that aren't an elite are not reliable back-up, but with careful positioning, this thing can help out a bit. and if your lucky, it will smack the opponent when they are ignoring it, and even save you mid-combo (but don't count on it) link to the translated Raven Guide I mentioned earlier, translated by suzaku. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5429&page=2 I don't mind 1 vs 1 against the same character, but it's definitely less interesting. it's a good testament of skill though, because there's no worry about unbalance and shit like that, just straight up skill. I'll be working on my Paradigm and Raven as well, so don't worry about. EDIT: Kimera Cryin(So) Nanji 1909(Ra) Vs HN Tappu(Dr) Avatar THINE(Iz) http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm6585663 Bel Canto Valley (L)
Blackgenma Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 this match is SO EPIC, that it deserve a double post. Kimera Cryin(Va) Vs lxl Hapi lxl http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm6460140 Ganymeade LOL pencil guys.
Sol.Badguy Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Haha ok I REALLY need to try using hunchback more then because he's SO cool. The only problem is when he's doing the chili ball or w/e attack, it makes your attacks weaker because of like...proration I would assume. But yea, I'll use him when I'm practicing with my friend. My biggest problem in this game seems to be unlocking and buying things at the right time. I'll notice I'm at a stalemate with an enemy and I've got 1400 mana . That blows. However after I've noticed my problem via replay veiwer:eng101:, I think I've learned to unlock stuff better. So I went to ranked to try it out. Got in a match with panda62( this guy's played a ton and is pretty good ). He picks Sol:gonk:. Well what do you know but I unlocked EVERYthing at the perfect time, raped him in 1v1 master fights, and actually beat him! It's really a nice feeling knowing my Sol has come so far:keke: Hooray for replay viewer!
Blackgenma Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 ah, c'mon, no remark on the Kimera Cryin Vs lxl Hapi lxl match? it's extremely epic! you owe it to your self to watch it as a Sol player. My heart was pounding while watching it. I didn't know you could tech chase valentine's double jump. if you want a preview of how strong the hunchback is in servant slaying and the like, play free mission "even if I reach out" and "protect the gate" with Sol on hard. he has hunchback in both those stages, so use it generously and see the results for yourself. I personally only use the minion when there's a bunch of armors out, and I'm desperate to take them down. and yes, damage scaling reduces the damage when hit with chili ball, so hit them with a power attack for maximum damage output. I've added many videos to the GG2 video thread recently, and I haven't posted every new one here, so anyone interested be sure to check it out. I remove the "new" tags and dates 7 days after I post them.
Blackgenma Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 How does one counter a super aggresive Izuna? Why did they make his fucking summon's slow spell imune to dispell, it's bullshit, Izuna is already really good at fighting. UGH!!! some asshole of a really good Izuna player was locking me down in ganymede, in the lower half of the map (I was sol, and as you can imagine, I was getting outzoned). he would just run in my first ghost, lay a kappa, and stay and fight, and even if I killed him, he would keep sending units and keep fighting. lag really screwed me over here because he was a good fighter and he was pulling out his god forsaken minion. the first time around, I only killed him 1 time, and he killed me 4 times, and I finally got him to retreat because I spamed about 3 groups of blades to his namehage's (and blades > namehage) when I was trying to beat on some fleeing servants, he drills into me, and brings out his bullshit summon, I am too slow to dispell it, and I fucking lose te fight thatnks to it. the after another match, were were facing each other again and it was just as bad as before, only this time I was intent on trying to defend, and made no effort to put an offensive. I managed to actually kill him3 times (and a 4th with the help of my partner) but I ended up losing that position anyway. it was INSANELY infurating. the second match , he didn't pull out the stupid minion, but he dispeled my crimson jacket without fail. I lost the match, but I don't remembr what was the cause. I now hate Izuna. Edit: I'm just bitching, but I would appreciate any pointer on dealing with the character. that is, if there are any pointers to take advantage of. urgh, damn you Izuna for being so well rounded.
