 The PhD is probably from Arc Systems University.

According to Dr. Paradigm's character description on the official site, he kind of defaulted in assuming leadership of other autonomous GEARs who had no place to go after the Crusades ended. He apparently is either quite instrumental or holds a high degree of respect from the inhabitants of the Backyard so I assume he must be living over there. Not sure where those other autonomous GEARs are/were supposed to be.

A bit about Dr Paradigm in the game's epilogue: (start) He remains in Illuria. The play report I read said that it is both to assist in removing the seal from kokage no kimi as well as working with the King in forming a place where the autonomous GEARs can live in Illuria. (end)

My previous post was fixed, sorry for the unmarked spoilers! D:

Anyways, thanks for the translations, theria~! This is a complete WTF moment for me though. Gotta say; this is just WEIRD. (Seriously, I'm like, in shock)

Well, since the seal holding the tree-spirit-center-thing hasn't been removed at the end of the game, we can at least expect a GG2...2! GG2....Interlude? Just plain GG2 (since overture is played before the start of something, so...) GG2^2? GG2 the second? What the hell do you call the sequel of a game that's already the sequel of something? @_@

Well, I could see Ky doing taxes...

But could you really? REALLY? =l

I kinda felt that Overture is just the subtitle of the game. Kinda like "Mars - The Bringer of War." Thus GG2 is the overture to something. Perhaps the next will just be called Guilty Gear 3?

It's not that none one believed you. We just thought you were being a dick. Well. You're always being a dick. But we thought you were joking.

.... Though that said, when someone tells you the plot of the game and you assume their being a sarcastic ass, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE PLOT OF THE GAME.

Anyways kthx for the translation, even if it took awhile to realize you were serious. :(

Always being a dick huh....

Actualy I didnt trasnlate anything ethier. If I did, I woulda said according to the japanese sin is kys son etc. I just knew. Shrug Good guesser perhaps thats all.

Aw, I mean it with love. Anyways~ Dr. Paradigm at least seems that cool. And we got convfirmation that Justice at one point was hot, so things seem at least kind of interesting.

Well as we all know, an overture is the prelude to a major symphony. So I'm betting something big's gonna happen and we'll all be like WTF AGAIN O.O

That's when we'll find out that Ano Otoko is Sol's mother. :psyduck:

My thoughts on the "non-canon" comments:

Now that the major uproar has subsided, I am of the thought that there probably won't be any instances of characters who will suddenly up and stop existing but rather Daisuke was just cleaning up a rather muddy continuity which, honestly, was rather confusing at times. And you could tell they didn't want to deal with it recently since Story Mode was totally gone in Slash and AC.

Also a story structure which can be defined as "Hi. Oh Hi. Let's Fight! Ok. *battle* See ya later! Ok. *repeat*" wasn't probably what Daisuke wanted as a primary mode of storytelling to begin with.

Also it certainly isn't hard to see primary plot points from Story Mode reappearing in later games and told with pacing and situations more naturally set up. (Like an actual big battle scene with a horde of Robo-Kys with a massive Substance looming in distance, Shadow of the Colossus style.) Also with the story of Dr. Paradigm setting up a Gear state in Illyuria's borders, it can be assumed that other countries will get nervous about such a prospect including the US or Zepp which could lead to any number of problems including accusations of them using that state as a front to reform a Gear army like from before the Crusades. And there's all those loose ends concerning the Guild.

Or May could just flip out over bald people again.

Thanks for the offer Blade. Right now I'm jumping around NicoNico videos and translating dialogue of what I'm watching. So far I've got Mission 1, most of 2, and the dialogue in Battle #17 (VS That Man). If anyone wants I can toss them on the board (most likely out of order).

About the other countries being concerned about what is going on in Illuria at the end of Overture well, in Event #1, it is pretty clear that there are most likely other issues in global politics that rank higher. [start highlight] Details weren't given but the UN Senate has been making demands on Illuria and its king, something that deals with the king's command of supreme authority within his own land, which basically come down to being a puppet ruler under their thumb or plunging the entire world into civil war (for I assume, standing against them). At least, that's how Ky interprets it. The Postwar Administration Bureau is for some reason rearing its ugly head. The Guild may have been trying to make a deal with Illuria as Ky does warn his men to continue avoiding contact with them for now.[end highlight]

Spoilers question:

Wait, the PWAB is still around? And Valentine isn't working for That Man? And Valentine turns into a giant robot-looking thing in the final battle?

OH SHI-

SUBSTANCE STRIKES BACK

In reply to Fugue's spoiler question:

There hasn't been an ACTUAL mention of PWAB in what I've seen so far, that is my assumption based on what was revealed in the previous games, including Venom's insinuation that they have infiltrated the top of the UN.

And no, Valentine is not working for or with That Man but it seems for a different entity entirely that she might refer to as Mother. That quote came up in one blog. In fact, in Battle #17, That Man states quite clearly that he does not want Valentine to come in contact with the Cube.

Spoiler questions:

What's Valentine?

What's that huge boss? Is that Valentine?

And what's with that Evangelion/Shinji stage, which Sol was in a dark place filled with Valentines looking exactly like Reis? =p

The videos on youtube and the whole canon vs non-canon thing has kind of exploded on other forums. Hopefully you can clear up some questions for me.

1. There seems to be a belief that Ky is That Man. This stems from the boss battle video in which, even I must admit, that sounds a lot like Ky. Is it really him? Any idea how it could be him?

2. Your posts about the Backyard and the Cube have lead me to believe that the Cube is used to recreate Justice, or something like Justice. However from the videos of the final boss battles people seem to believe that Valentine is some kind of powered down Justice who turns into a super-ish Justice for the final battles. I think this is silly, but I guess it's possible. Is it true?

Whited out for spoiler prevention.

Thanks for your time, theria.

To Akira:

Valentine is the primary opponent of Overture. If you mean what is she as in Gear, human, etc, no clue. That Man seems to know but he will not share his knowledge with the rest of us. Don't you just hate him? (The opponent in Battle #18 and #19 is labeled as Valentine though how she came to those states I have yet to know. The black area with lots of Valentines is apparently her stream of consciousness according to Sol.)

To Sephi_hatu:

I kind of doubt the PWAB is in any capacity any publically recognized organization. Per XX, like I said, Venom's research has pinpointed their presence within the UN, whose influence and power was vastly increased at the end of the Crusades. Ky and Johnny have suspicions, particularly with the bounty issue, that they have their hands within the IPF, which is linked to the UN. They are probably working like the Soshiki/GUILD did in the US, working behind the scenes and manipulating the power players. Heck, the Soshiki, even though it is supposed to be an amorphous secret organization has more people knowing about it than the PAWB. In XX, the only people who knew about the PAWB before the bounty incident was Sol, Slayer, Testament (<-- highly suspect they were behind either his GEAR conversion or his restoration after being destroyed by Kliff the first time as he both was surprised that they are still around and recognizes them by that name, oh and dislikes them more than he dislikes Sol), and Venom.

To HA~Kaeverak:

1. No point in hiding this. No, That Man is not Ky nor is Ky That Man. (Redundant I know.) For whatever reason, That Man has a different voice actor than previously (same goes for Sol). WHY, in That Man's case, an obviously younger-sounding voice was used is unknown. Some Japanese fans speculate that there may be some age-regression going on for whatever purpose. Yes, the fan-girl ones. Who else would run out and buy the game and an X-Box on the same day?

2. As for the Cube, I'm still watching and translating from the beginning cut scenes. Most of the end or near endgame stuff I've watched is basically how-to-beat strategy videos so any event movies were skipped over. What the Cube does exactly I do not know but per That Man "If that(Valentine) were to come in contact with the Cube core, I fear it will be humanity's destruction". The resemblance between Justice and the boss in Battle #18 are striking, though it could just as well be the programmers/designers choice to make a nostalgic look as opposed to literal connection to Justice. Again, that's only my conjecture, I haven't come across any story videos of that part of the game yet.

Speak to theria

That kokage no kimi is really Dizzy, or just what fans guess ?

And if it is, that KyxDizzy stuff is for real ?.

That child, is his name "Shin" or "Sin" ?.

Posted

I think I can answer your questions.

That kokage no kimi is really Dizzy, or just what fans guess ?

It's not officially stated, just hinted at. Still, it's a Gear, with Justice's DNA, who Ky is in love with, and who was able to bear a child. How many female Gears are there with Justice's DNA who aren't Justice? The connection is about as strong as the Baldhead/Faust link.

And if it is, that KyxDizzy stuff is for real ?.

It would seem so, since the girl is almost certainly Dizzy, and Ky is almost certainly Ky, and they're certainly Sin's parents.

That child, is his name "Shin" or "Sin" ?.

I would guess "Shin" is his birthname, and that "Sin" is an assumed name used for secrecy or to annoy Ky.
