GGs to Sol.Badguy for helping to keep this game alive. As expected, you totally flattened a beginner like me, but the Paradigm vs. Valentine match I had with your friend that you passed the controller to was really close and intense. I've added him, and hopefully we can give it another go if he has his own copy.

I didn't even realize that this game had multiplayer. I'll keep my eyes open for a used copy if one of you will humour me once I get my hands on it.

Whaaaaat?? GG2 was completely designed around online multiplayer, that's why they released it on 360. Did you just look at the screenshots and think it was a Dynasty Warriors clone?

Posted

I still hope they will release it on steam one day. Easy to port, possibly bigger online community than xbox, also it's good opportunity to introduce plot events prior to Xrd.

Posted

People hated the game on 360, what makes you think they'd like it better on PC? Not to mention that the very idea of playing a RTS with a controller is anathema to the PC Master Race, even if the game was designed for it.

Posted

PC community is bigger and more diverse than xbox community. Every genre here has it's players. Not everyone plays stracraft, curses consoles and worships Gabe Newell. If something like Isuka can find its customers (i like it actually) despite all pointless hate (any game gets pointless hate), Overture has all chances to earn good sales.

Xbox... Halo, Gears of War, kinect, casual family gaming... gets animu (!) slasher (!!) with RTS (!!!) mechanics. That was horrible choice to release it on this platform.

Plus i think mediocre indie game on steam with trading cards and achievements will have better sales than Overture on xbox...

The hell are you talking about? The Kinect wasn't even announced when GG2 released, and the 360 has been home to many other so-called "animu" and "slasher" games from practically the beginning. Ninety-Nine Nights, Ninja Gaiden II, Senko no Ronde, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, and Eternal Sonata were all available in the early years of the system, and were all permanent or timed 360 exclusives. Microsoft Japan made a committed effort to push the system in that region, buying up tons of quality exclusives from JPN developers. Just as not every Steam user is a Gaben-worshipping TF2 hound, not every 360 player is a Mountain Dew-chugging Halo/Gears brodude.

I've already explained why GG2 was a flop, and it was because of the game itself, not Arc's decision to put it on the 360. Consider that the PS3 was still floundering in 2007, with its future very much in question.

Many of those games were flops or barely broke even, though your point still stands.

I personally believe the game was before it's time and would do better with an updated PC release.

Now that MOBAs are popular, people would probably be willing to try Overture out. If it came out for $20 on steam, there'd probably be an influx of sales during the summer/holiday sales at 50%-75% off, and it's digital so they'd probably make as much profit as a physical copy would selling at $20 because of the reduced overhead. GG fans get it at launch, then it goes on sale and people who want a break from LoL and DotA try it out.

I think it would be profitable, but they have other things on their mind (Xrd, BlazBlue, Persona) that are making them money at the moment and taking their full attention. They'd have to outsource the work to someone, and that always carries risks. If they outsourced it to the right team it could work out really well though.

Good games man. Yea, you still got quite a bit of work to do, but it was fun getting back on that game anyway. Make sure you watch our replays, they might help you pick something up.

Watching you and my friend play was tons of fun though. He has his own copy and 360 and all that, he just doesn't get on very often. I'll maybe try to get him to, seeing as he wants to

get back into that game as well.

Dude the game is so cheap on ebay, lol. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=m570.l3201&_nkw=guilty+gear+2+overture&_sacat=0

Never did manage to play online yet (since my xbox connection is wacky as hell) but when it does I wanna see how you play, I only fight the AI as practice. :P

I'd humor ya and give it a shot sometime if ya want.

GG2 has much more in common with Herzog Zwei, Sacrifice and Savage than modern MOBAs like DotA and LoL, which are essentially modifications of WCIII. It plays and controls nothing like Warcraft, which is a major strike against it from the start. Not to mention that the MOBA genre is incredibly oversaturated right now, and most players are already deeply invested into one particular game (most likely LoL or DotA 2). I think they would get some sales from curious punters at first, but it would completely fail to gain any lasting traction with the PC audience, especially since it would be unplayable with a keyboard and mouse.

Dudes, where can I online buy this? Checked Amazon and they don't sell it directly anymore (and most of the resellers don't ship to Mexico :( ).

Do Mexico and the US share the same marketplace? You can download it if so.

Nope, different marketplace. Most of the content is the same, but this game isn't part of that.

And I want a physical copy :v:

How do you not see my post that's like, 4 up from yours?

If you're looking for a ps3 copy, I'm afraid you're out of luck.

Life in this section? How unexpected!

Anyway, glad to see people interested in the game. I'm still without internet, but if there is some interest i should find a way to upload those combo video I made more than a year ago...

I think i was missing Ky and Sin, right?

I'll be up for a game as fast as I get internet again in my house. I dunno how long it will ake thou...

Sin Basic combo guide.

For some reason my Vegas copy don't work much well, and im forced to upload directly my video from it, resulting in a nonsense loss of quality.

I'm gonna add combo annotation later.

Video is more than a year old, so I don't know if those are still the best combo aviable...but was at the time

It also may be helpful to understand how Sin will play in xrd, but consider that, as usual, combo =/= gameplay

Oh well

I got internet back today, tomorrow I'll renew XBL probably.

I advise you that I'm completely rusty, it's years I don't make a serious match...

Works for me. I have very little experience fighting human players, and strategy games are a weakness of mine in general. Maybe we can get Kaabii in for a 3P.

hello

Tonight I've finally decided to play this game! I've had the game for over a year but I'm now about to play it for the first time after checking out a bunch of match videos on YouTube. The mix of hack-and-slash action and real-time strategy is certainly interesting! Right now I'm watching the demo match from the title screen and I'm already starting to like this game.

I'm probably going to pick up Overture during the holidays, just to bridge the gap between XX and Xrd for myself.

I have been watching matches and gameplay, and I think it's pretty unique and worth checking out, and the soundtrack seems great so that's a plus. It's only twenty dollars on ebay brand new, so why not!

Or, you can easily just pick it up at a GS for about $3 used (if you're lucky to get it complete, and also lucky to find a location that has it in stock), but hey, checking out other retailers would work too.

I was considering doing that, but I also want it for collection purposes. Recently I've been trying to collect GG games with the box, manual, and all that jazz in good condition.

I'm still looking for someone to do some screen captures of the final boss of this game... mostly because you don't exactly get a wide overhead shot of her except in a few situations.  I'm sure plenty of Valentine fans would appreciate it as well.

Some things I'd like a picture of:

---Her mouth transforming as she does / is about to do Gamma Ray.
---A good image of her arm doing it's best imitation of Michael Sword (only with chainsaw).
---The wide animation of her transforming back in to ship mode (when she successfully kicks Sol off the deck of the ship).
