Played some games with Valk. 2C not being an AA makes me smash my head against the wall every time I hit it on reaction to a jump in, but otherwise I'm not really noticing any difference in how he plays (then again, I always played wolf-centric and never got too used to relying on just his gdlk human normals...). Funny how I don't notice that his damage isn't insane anymore, despite that being one of his biggest changes.

The change to his wolf dash is immediately noticeable

Really? It doesn't seem that much slower to me. Regardless, I can still get in just fine, and that's really all I need from it.

His 2C still has an amazing hitbox so you can still throw it with the intent to trade or stuff something early. Just no head invul makes it harder to use. Its still his best starter too so when you hit it, it still hurts like a fucking train :3

Anybody having any luck using 6A as an AA? The lack of horizontal range keeps pissing me off, and I tend to just have better luck with 5A and trying to trade with 2C.

It's a bitch, but Valk's defense is honestly designed to suck, IMO 6A is good for closer jump ins/late reactions, 2C has a good hit box but you're likely to trade with it depending on the matchup, pick your poison or C-Dash to freedom, lol.

The laggier start-up on his c-dashes, d-cancels, and Beast Cannons was a lot more jarring than I thought it would be when I got my hands on CS2. It's one thing to learn new, post patch combos, it's another to re-learn the same (for the most part) combos because of different timings @.@

I found myself using 6A more as a punishing tool for stuff like Ragna's Dead Spike and Distorion Drives than an anti-air. Seems to fit that role better because of guard point.

I use 6A on telegraphed jump ins. Otherwise I just transform and use 5B. That's the new AA honestly; not worth using anything else.

I made some more extensive Valkenahayn Mizuumi edits in the combos section if anyone wants to check that out.

I've seen it. Thanks for that, it was extremely useful. :)

On a side note, I have been lurking in the Valkenhayn section to find and clarify information, but I figure I should get to know you guys and stuff. I'm not new to Valkenhayn, but I am new to this section.

Coolness. Nothing wrong with that. Looking forward to what you have to contribute :)

I'm fixing up the Match-Up section a bit with [CS2] updates, guys. So don't be too alarmed when you see the changes.

Thanks! :) I hope I can contribute useful information as well as develop my Valk in the process.

Pretty much this. It's more useful due to your increased mobility while in wolf form too. Besides, I've actually been clashed out of 6A before, which is never a good thing.

Thanks :)

Completed the Match-Up section update, post away.

Nice, the uniform nature of it all will really help when people need to look up info fast. We just have to remember that the matchup threads exist :psyduck:

I'm gonna be sure to look into every matchup as soon as I can. I've already put a lengthy writeup of Valk vs Tao as a start and added a bit to the Valk vs Ragna threads. I'll hopefully have at least something useful to put into each thread by the time Revalations comes around. My goal is to have writeups to the caliber of my Tao writeup before EVO but that'll depend mainly on my ability to get adequate experience in those matchups to contribute. But I'll at least add basics of everything soon:keke:

Oh and Nick, Congrats on Mod status :3

I love how I keep doing 5B > 6B on hit because I forget it doesn't combo

I do have to wonder why you got the idea that it did in the first place :v:

I never really used 5B > 6B since it loses to mashing. My personal favourite blockstring for going into 6B is 2A > 2C > 6B, since it frame traps and gets that nice 6B pressure reset anyways.

l posted some stuff in the rachel boards on how l feel about the matchup, feel free to review it and take/test what you want. l can help from rachel's side.

I really like that string too since it's easy to hitconfirm off of and you can opt for yet another frame trap after the 6B by doing another 2C (4 frame window) if you choose not to go for wolf mixup or other pressure.

if you train people to block 5C after 5B, then doing 5B, 6B as a mix up should definitely be viable. If they're mashing, they're either nervous/guessing (if it's done once in awhile), or really scrubby(if done all the time). Usually when someone starts mashing against valk, it's GGPO, one way or the other.
