EL_TRO Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Started using Valkenhayn just wanna know what normals are good against wake up in the corner. I try using 2C but I question if its even viable.
Toasty Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Started using Valkenhayn just wanna know what normals are good against wake up in the corner. I try using 2C but I question if its even viable. 2C on neutral tech in the corner is pretty good if timed right, since it will beat any attempt to mash out and it will lead to a very nice combo on hit. Just be aware of what your opponent can do, since if they have a reversal and see it coming (like many moves on wakeup), you'll be hit out of it. Also I've been able to catch attempts to roll out of the corner with a 2B, which can lead into a 2B>5C>[combo depending on if you catch them mid roll or during the recovery at the end].
Sahgren Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Started using Valkenhayn just wanna know what normals are good against wake up in the corner. I try using 2C but I question if its even viable. 2C is viable for the reasons Toasty listed above. If you're worried about roll outs but want to use 2C anyways, 2A > 2C (mash) works when spaced properly with the cost of only getting ~3.7k if you catch them mashing rather than 5k+. 6B also work as it catches rolls into 5C > combo of your choice (100 P1 starter at that so it hurts like hell), gets you a Fatal if they're mashing, and is +8 on block, but you can just go straight into it 2C on block/hit anyways so your mileage may vary on just how useful it is.
NickExtreme1 Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Updated Platinum and Jin match-up OPs a bit (not done with Jin yet)
Mr. Kimura Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 (edited) Toasty y u no let my Bang walk all over you. In a more intellegent like manner: How do you Valk players feel towards Bang? Edited May 31, 2011 by Mr. Kimura
OrionXElite Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 I'd call it Valk's favor a little bit, 6-4 at worst. Bang has much weaker pressure now and his footsies have trouble against Valk without nails to help him approach. He also has no easy answer to Wolf approach should you use something like 6B on block or [W]236A to get in. The only real issue against Bang is if he gets a knockdown, you have to respect him on wakeup. Valk's backdash is meh at best and Bang's best baits for that are air moves so reversal supers won't work. 6A obvious things like 5B>6A and whatnot. And once you have meter, mix him up hard since his wakeup options are almost as bad so try and open him up and make it hurt. Valk still gets 4k midscreen, Bang gets 2.5 at best.
GenoWhirl Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Sorry I haven't been on guys I'm on a trip. I'll come back on wednesday and update everything that may have been posted
OrionXElite Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Sorry I haven't been on guys I'm on a trip. I'll come back on wednesday and update everything that may have been posted Dustloop has been down for like a week so trust me, you haven't missed much
OrionXElite Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 So I've been wondering for a bit now, but last casuals I played at, I noticed I was hitting a LOT of 5B CHs but the way to confirm them seemed to be random more often than not. Now when I'm playing footsies and I predict a CH 5B to land, I cancel into Rozen to follow up assuming they're grounded. So what my question is: When playing footsies, what do you think is the best way to confirm 5B? Do you try to go to 5C for extra time for a proper confirm? Rozen? 2C/3C? Jump Cancel to make it safe if blocked? There isn't really a BAD or wrong way to do it, more of a preference kind of thing but I'm just wondering what others have had success with. Later in the casuals, I had more success just jump canceling it so no matter what, I was safe. But there were times I lost a combo for it cause they landed when I hit them so its like a give and take kind of thing.
Guardian Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 I personally think CH 5B-->Rozen is the best mid-screen option, and 3C is best in the corner. People already have a lot of respect for 5C, but if they fear 5B the way they fear 5C, then his human footsie game can become quite ridiculous. If not rozen, then 5C for the extra time to confirm. I did see CH 5B, 2C, 6B, 3C, 2B, 5C, j.B, etc in a match and it did HUGE dmg. CH 5B --->rozen is the most difficult, but best option. I personally just use 5C afterward b/c I can't confirm on reaction just yet.
OrionXElite Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I was playing around with it in training mode tonight and I think I'm gonna see how doing more 5B>5B would work. With it only being -1, its a frame trap when throwing pokes and it can confirm into itself on crouching CH and a slightly delayed 5B>5B works on air CH too. Given how unsafe Rozen is, I can't stand it when I confirm it wrong cause I'm just trying to get the damage. So in this case, I like the idea of having an option that covers multiple angles while remaining safe. I've also been doing some playing around 5B>Wait>2B>5B for extra pressure and a frame trap.
OrionXElite Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Double post: So as you may notice, things are changing a bit here and there, I deleted a couple old and unneeded threads, Stickied the most active ones and I plan to go through more and clean it up and make it more organized. Anyone has any particular ideas or requests, don't hesitate to ask. I'll be doing this slowly over the next couple days as I'm also currently busy with Finals for school. I plan to continue adding my writeups in the matchups threads once I'm done with Finals. So look forward to that too. I look forward to working with everyone more in the future Anything you guys need, let me know. Don't hesitate either, I don't bite :3 /terrible joke
GenoWhirl Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Speaking of that, shouldn't the CS Threads be moved to the archives?
OrionXElite Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Speaking of that, shouldn't the CS Threads be moved to the archives? Yeah I wasn't entirely sure what to do with them but yeah, I moved them.
Kiba Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Not sure if it's a good idea, as I understand it'll take a long time. How about putting all the videos together in the first post of the video posting thread? Just a thought. It'll be easier than navigating through pages to find videos, and it can be updated with future vids.

OrionXElite Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Double Post: I've gathered and organized all the CS2 vids thus far and put them in NEW Video thread. Link is below, please go get familiar with the format of it and give me any feedback on it. Now I'm off to sleep after doing this all night:v: New Video Posting Thread
NickExtreme1 Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Most of Valkenhayn's hitbox data is now available on the front page. Just follow the instructions.
Sophisticat Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I'm looking to improve my Wolf movement substantially. As a former Hakumen player I'm way too used to hoping around and airdashing instead of getting in the habit of using Wolf for movement and approach. Aside from going gay for Hima, what should I look at?

As a former Hakumen player I'm way too used to hoping around and airdashing instead of getting in the habit of using Wolf for movement and approach. Aside from going gay for Hima, what should I look at? I'd say your best bet is Masashi. Hes a very solid player whos probably the best Valk next to Hima. Albeit, he can be a bit reckless with his Wolf Meter, hes got a couple of unique combos and tricks you could definitely learn from. Theres a bunch of his recent ones in the Video thread and they aren't hard to find, just look for his name
Leo7 Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Masashi's solid, but he's lacking something that makes him an S-Class player IMO. I personally think the 2nd best Valk (the ones that show up on video anyways) is Shuu, who's the 5th highest ranked Valk on the PSR leaderboards. He shows up occasionally in Gameacho vids. His wolf movement is probably the best I've seen, and he has a lot of interesting set-ups.
Kiba Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 In all honesty it may help you even more to watch ANY Valk rather than just the more better ones.

Would you mind linking me to one of Shuu's so I can identify him and try and find more? I don't know any japanese so I'm fucked when it comes to knowing whos who:v:
