Darwock Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Apologies if this thread is supposed to be started by a mod. I got royally trounced by Valk last night though so I want to see what tips people have to offer. To start with, all I can say is that if Tager's 2D collides with his wolf dash, Tager wins (the collision that is, not the match - in case it wasn't obvious...).
Nobus3r1 Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 I'm curious how his command throw matches up with ours as from experience that's the final insult in the Hazama matchup and it would be irritating if something similar where replicated in this matchup.
Solex Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 i hate this match up every time i play this and i get him magnetized he just runs till i make the slightest mistake and he pounces on me any tips?
Ravage C Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Don't make mistakes. Best advice ever I have to admit. I don't really know how this matchup goes either, but I did manage to cap some gameplay against one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_INFqUhZFM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOWgZ1raQdY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8GGVzYTQ9w Haven't played one better than this yet. Heroic_Legacy Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 This matchup actually has a lot to do with not making mistakes. If you leave yourself open Valk can capitalize for about half your health if he has meter on hand. It's more of a poke heavy fight but Valkenhayn really has to rush down.... and you actually can rush him down. Yes, Tager can rush someone down. Valkenhayn's mixup is not ferocious, he is not amazingly scary or quick. 5C is something you should learn to IB all the time. IB'ing that move makes safe followups (236A) not so smart. IB'ing that move will make Valkenhayn more liable to start doing 6C since he's airborne. At which you can IB 5C or 2C. If you ever see the wolf then just mash 5A. It has nothing that will beat you unless it does beast cannon. And beast cannon cannot combo into anything but more beast cannon. And it doesn't do the crazy damage that you'd think it should.
NumeroGaijin Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Well for those curious about his command throw....Ours beats it if he is grounded but a smart Valk will do it in the air or after some ground mixup. Beast cannon can combo into more than just beast cannon. He can transform then make himself human and proceed with a good pickup combo and get at least almost 3k out of the deal if not pretty close to it.
Koopa_Klawz Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 idk if it's just me but valk keeps beating my 2C with his J.C.

No. with meter, Valk can do beast cannon x 3 air dash j.b dj.b dj.C super, and that will take out a good chunk of life ;X
Heroic_Legacy Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Unless it's doing over 4k it isn't hurting. 13k health says I'd be willing to eat 3 3k combos if each time it took 50 meter for them to perform said combo.
JinSaotome Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 It's probably doing around 4k,I would estimate I didn't take the time to add up the whole thing, but factoring in proration, I'd say you're looking around 4k range. Regardless, even eating 2k meterless combos for free is foolhardy if you just keep doing it. X:
Heroic_Legacy Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 So then what should I be afraid of? He has no ground strings that are safe from 360/720 and if Valk wants to keep spamming beast cannon I will start blocking and punishing. It isn't safe so I don't see why they'd do it in the first place. I guess I have to give it time.
JinSaotome Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 well, if you start blocking, you submit yourself to un-wolf/instant j.B mixups (which hurt just as bad) I'm not saying that using 5A to stop his offense is a bad idea, but if you keep doing it, you eat a BC combo, and if you don't you're giving him a window to mix you up for damage anyway, so its a risky scenario. :3
NickExtreme1 Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Note: 360A > 5B combos work on Valkenhayn.
StarryShade Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Yeah I'm having serious trouble with this match-up. The only thing that beats out Valk ground mixup/pressure is 360A but every Valk knows that so they just jump....but if I do 623C they don't jump, Valk vs Tager is ridiculously in Valk's favor. Not kidding.
Heroic_Legacy Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Super tested. On IB you can 360A between 5A 5B 5A 2A 5A 2B 5B 5C 5B 2B 5B 2C 2C 6B 5C 236B/236C 6B anything afterwards except 6C. On IB you can 720 5C 236A Everything listed above On all wolf cancels mashing 5A will beat out the wolf transformation so watch for the flippy. 6C will be used to bait 360/720. Just block it and mash A afterwards. Wolf gets stuffed and you'll get a free gadget if no wolf cancel.
Leo7 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 6C will be used to bait 360/720. Just block it and mash A afterwards. Wolf gets stuffed and you'll get a free gadget if no wolf cancel. whoa whoa what. 6c is +6 on block (and still +1 on IB), i would not advise mashing.
