Whiteboywilly Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Dude why would people plan a huge trip and then just cancel. It was obvious the tourney was happening one way or another.

Honnou Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Made a personal visit to Eudemonia with Ginseng. Seems Dean has been out of town at a gamer's conference in LV. This would explain why he has been hard to get a hold of, aside from him being generally hard to contact lol Good news: there is actually a whole separate room/building next door where they get chairs and tables from. So Eudemonia actually has the main area, back room and next door. Space is NOT an issue. Also, the only other coinciding event on Mar. 26th is a D&D event of some sort, that few people turn up for. Bad news: We can't really get any price estimates until Dean responds, and we don't know if we can use the venue yet until then as well. I let them know that even though we have another venue (SJSU YEAH! ;o) that we were STILL interested in using Eudemonia because of how well things went last time (me gettin' trolled by real dog)
Ginseng Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I would like to add on that their venue itself has been reorganized in the front and we have already said we are expecting approximately 70 people, 100 at most. With the extra room, we can provide a bigger area for the minor compared to the NCI in August. Also to those that play Starcraft 2 or any of the dota clones, you can also play on their computers for a fee between your matches if you feel like it. Or you can bash the locals in said games.
blk_mage Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Any word on what the format is going to be regarding teams? Also, is there going to be an april nci and if so will it still be on the 2nd?
Chun Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 Thanks Ginseng and Honnou for clearing up that situation. I've been waiting for a reply for a while so it's good to know the situation as it is now. It's starting to get really late in the game, and advertising is an issue. I'm already talking to the CS Club about the SJSU venue because I had to delay the submission request because we were waiting on Eudemonia. It should be fine. I'll give it till Friday for EU, but if that's not happening/working out, then I'm going to put SJSU into full swing. The format for now is that there is a possibility BBCS will be team-oriented, or likewise for other games. However, I'm also considering the fact that since PNW and I believe SoCal will be in attendance, singles will be more favorable. There is no NCI in April. ~Chun
TaoFTW Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Last year Dean only charged $3 a person. I believe it's a good idea to communicate this to the EUdemonia thread on SRK. They were the ones who first introduced this venue to us.
tastylumpia Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 (edited) The Eudemonia thread and posters have relocated to http://shoryuken.com/f23/berkeley-sf-freedemonia-thread-meets-weekly-sfsu-253079/ as they have a good deal running with someone who works there who can appropriate an area with ample space for weekend sessions with no venue fee. The site is variable but last time the session was held at the Crossroads dining hall with at least 5 setups and 30 people with room for much more. If there is a issue with either SJSU or EU, as an alternative you might want to talk to Worf Jostar to set something up. Edited March 17, 2011 by tastylumpia
BeaverDeity Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Yayyy I think I can make it to this one :D I've been practicing my butt off and now it's sore
Chun Posted March 20, 2011 Author Posted March 20, 2011 First post updated for real. EpicMealTime may or may not be at fault for lack of eloquence. I've decided to keep the format Singles for now, across every game. Tournament will start at 2 PM immediately, doors open at 10 AM. 5$ Entry fee, 5$ a game you enter. PLEASE READ THE FIRST POST FOR MORE INFO. ~Chun
Crosell Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Damn, hope you guys have fun. Beaver diety gonna tear you guys up :3

natearistata Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 So we're confirmed at SJSU then? When is Marvel 3? ' ^ ' if only
Spirit Juice Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 is anyone actually going to play kof02um? Post signs at the Mexican restaurant across the street from SJSU and I'm sure you'll get tons of entrants.
Tsubasa Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I don't really play 02, but I can rock an easy team like Iori/Athena/Kula or something.
