Spirit Juice Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 You fucking faggots and your LoL. Play a real game and not Fisher Price DotA.
Coopa Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Actually, is there no Gundam vs Gundam side tourney? If there is not, I have misinformed several individuals on FKO that there will be a G v G. If there is no side tourney, I am incredibly sad, and will somehow not make it to this NCI and stream... (not really).
OrionXElite Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 A GvG side tourney would just slow everything down unless its done after the main tourneys are over. Its bad enough people are gonna be dicking around on it too much to pay attention to their fucking matches during the actual tourneys
totoroslayer Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 What I could arrange is a round robin bracket for people who are not in a bracket/have been knocked out only. That way, as people are knocked out and feel like entering the Gundam vs. round robin, they could just play everyone else who has been knocked out.
Crosell Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 You fucking faggots and your LoL. Play a real game and not Fisher Price DotA. Haha, just waiting for dota 2 be released. Go back to the glory days of -ar
Spirit Juice Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Haha, just waiting for dota 2 be released. Go back to the glory days of -ar I really hope I get into the closed beta. Hope my friend does too so we can play together.
Crosell Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Real talk, we need to focus less on side tournaments and more on setting up our main events. We are at someones elses venue, we need to respectful of him. I would recommend that we end our tournament a hour before he wants us to leave so we can aid in cleaning up. We have to be very respectful of his venue, as he is helping out us a lot. This is a big opportunity for us to attract a larger gathering to NCI and to have a solid place for advertisement within the community. So to do this we have to fucking start on time. It is fucking unacceptable to have our tournaments starting three hours later. There is no reason that we can't run a monthly event in a timely manner. I'm all for TO and bracket organizers having some fun before a tourney, but cmon every month its the same thing and its just disrespectful to the entire community that shows up on time and ready to go. Until NCI can actually prove that we can run a tournament professionally, people really need to back off the side tournaments, because as it is, just running our 4 games makes every nci run till 12-1 o clock. This one is going to be bigger than before and people being given more distractions than usual at an nci (see GvG) We need to focus on what our key problems are in tournament planning resolve those, and test to see if they work. We do the same thing at every NCI and run into the same bottle necks, every possible solution to help manage this issue is just pushed under the carpet and we act like there is nothing wrong with the way our tournaments run. There is a problem, and instead of twiddling our thumbs and hoping that each event runs fine we could be testing these things before a minor comes up so our minors can actually run well. Not every test is going to work, but we can find one that fits. As it stands right now, just about every game plays up to top 8 then sits around for four hours with nothing to do. Hell blazblue top 8 always takes place at 11 where no gives a shit and players are too tired and out of practice to really even play seriously. Now add in side tournaments, how are we going to get these things done? Lets focus on our main event first. Fuck side tournaments, we don't deserve them because we can't even run our own tournaments. edit grammar
ZeroRaider Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 (edited) Soooo tl;dr Focus on the main events, starting on time, and test different solutions for problems instead of ignore them before even worrying THINKING about any side tourneys? Edited August 23, 2011 by ZeroRaider

Chun Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 (edited) No one should be worried as everything from equipment planning to stream scheduling to opening/closing hours has been confirmed and under control. That's also the reason why I worked to get the website up so soon, so I wouldn't have questions about the venue, the time things started, or registration issues. Extensive planning has gone into this already that you cannot see for the past two weeks and more, as I've been working closely with both Myung from GameCenter, FinestKO about the streaming, and gathering the equipment. The side tournaments are limited to one for that same reason, because it's a calculated event. I've put work into this so that it'll be the most straightforward and hassle free experience. Just register, show up on time, and have fun. That's all I can ask for. ~Chun Edited August 23, 2011 by Chun
OrionXElite Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Could we just add a damn rule that states that if you're still in the bracket, no playing GvG at all until you're eliminated?
Chun Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 The rules state the 10 minute marker before DQ, but there will be name tags (Just your typical Hello stuff) and enforcement that they must leave whatever they're doing immediately. There will be no "Just let me finish this", we're on a pretty tight schedule.
Meowmix Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Would anyone happen to live in the Capitola/Santa Cruz area? I'd like to make it out to this, but I am currently lacking a ride.

Take the Santa Cruz transit route 17; it should be $7-$10. Afterwards, take caltrain all the way up to San Mateo. Gamecenter is right next to the caltrain station.

Tone Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Could we just add a damn rule that states that if you're still in the bracket, no playing GvG at all until you're eliminated? Or you could always just DQ people (and i have yet to see anybody get DQed for not being there for a match at an NCI) for not showing up to their matches on time. Unless you're playing a game in a tournament running parallel, there's no real excuse. And that goes double for people leaving to eat or something, causing a bracket to be held up. Dacidbro Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 You can put me down as "Captain Douchebag", I'll make sure people get DQed. And it doesn't matter if you're my dear grandma, you're going down if you're not there.
Spirit Juice Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Going to need volunteers to help run the BB bracket. I'll make the brackets this time, but I want to spend most of my time having fun this NCI, rather than running brackets. ALSO, IF WE HAVE A DINNER BREAK SCHEDULED, DON'T FUCKING LEAVE FOR DINNER THIRTY MINUTES BEFORE DINNER BREAK IS SUPPOSED TO END, THUS HOLDING UP BRACKETS FOR ANOTHER HOUR. I DON'T GIVE A FUCK IF YOU'RE IN FINALS BECAUSE I WILL DQ YOUR FUCKING FAGGOT ASS.
Tari Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Had to laugh at the part in red. I can see that you guys have had some, uh, fun times at NCI before.
Meowmix Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Failing that, I'm in Santa Cruz (essentially) and 'probably' going to Super NCI. Assuming a ride is a possibility, keep me posted. I'd do the caltrain thing, but as I've never had to take it before I fear I'd just end up getting myself lost in some unfamiliar town, where the only law is the law of the jungle.
