is a TK hirentotsu is important for combo in CSE?

i don't play CSE though

TK hirentotsu loop is pretty much the only combo that Hazama's should do in CS:EX~

And even if you don't have CS:EX yet, you can practice it in CS2.

I'm thinking about getting into Hazama...because...well, I really like snakes (too bad Mizuchi sucks now). But the thing is that I've always found him really awkward to play as. I love some things like his Ouroboros throw, his 214D~B, the frame advantage off a blocked LV2 214D~A, and the fact that he can shut down other characters' zoning attempts hard. But he can't run, and his dash/airdash is not nearly as good as Valkenhayn's (what I'm used to), which means that he is almost completely reliant on his chains to be mobile, and using THEM seems to be almost an art form that takes time to develop, plus if you use them too much you're stuck in terribad movement mode for a while. His normals also have NO range except for 3C and most of his combos require a lot of inputs in different directions (read: a lot of opportunities for me to mess up). There's always 236D (Jabaki) as a quick ranged poke, but you can't follow up very much off of it that I know of. I have trouble escaping from heavy pressure in the corner, and trouble following up after landing Jayoku Houtenjin.

Anyway, if he feels awkward to me, does that mean that he's probably not right for me? Or does he feel awkward to everybody when they start out with him? I don't see very many Hazamas online and the ones I see are rarely very good, so I've sort of started to think he must be pretty hard to learn. Are there any useful tips people can give me, just basic and simple blockstrings, strategies, and mini-combos that you find yourself using to good effect in most of your matches?

Check out this thread for some tips. He's not an easy character to play as but you'll develop a style with him over time, and his combos are not all that hard after a bit of practice. Look up pro Japanese Hazamas, my two favorites are Mitsurugi and Noze. There's a lot to learn but to start you need to focus on your drive, movements and how to zone. Read around the forums, there's a lot of info and old posts to help get you started.

I started practicing the loop yesterday in CS2, and I'd like to know how many reps you can do in a couple of combos before you can't even pick them up with 5C.

The combos are:

CH 3C > Zaneiga (2) > 6C > dash > TK loop xn in the corner.

CH 3C > Zaneiga (2) > 6C > dash 2C > j5Cx5 > 2C > TK loop xn near the corner.

I always drop the first one after 3 reps, the second after 4.

Including j5Cx5 > 2C > TK seems to make the combos a lot easier to me.

Also, any combos with more reps are welcome, no matter how good or bad they are.

I just wanna learn the loop.

Sorry if this is the wrong place or its been answered but I didnt see anything. I'm having trouble with the TK j214b combos. The 5c after the j214b always blue beats no matter how fast I do it. Is there a specific timing of the j214b?

So, I am wondering what Hazama's most damaging combo midscreen and corner combos are. I have been playing around a lot with him in CSX and I don't seem to pull a lot of damage out of no where like I used to. So I was wondering what other people have come up with.

Posted

Midscreen:

214D~C > (dash) 6C > dash 5C > 2C > tk j.214B > dash 5C > j.C x 5 > 2C > tk j.214B > dash 5C > j.C x 5 > 5C > 214D~B > 3C*

Damage: 4000, Heat Gain: 69

(Note: keep in mind this is not a (S)214D~C starter, which causes significantly more damage)

Corner:

5C > 236236B > (S)214D~C > CU 6C > dash 5C > 2C > tk j.214B > 5C > 2C > 6D~A > 4D~A > 623D > dash [5C > 2C > tk j.214B] x 3 > 5C > 2C > 214D~B > 3C > (632146C)

Damage: 6801, Heat Gain: -50+67 Net = +17

+ 632146C = Damage: 7881, Heat Gain: -50+67-50 Net = -33

This is why we have a wiki, people, and why people like ZeroRaider, Zeron, KayEff, and myself have all contributed. Also, I should be putting up some of the practical combos from Noze's video as well as a TK-loop tutorial on the wiki later today.

It has been a while since I have been on DL. I didn't even notice the wiki. I just made a new log in today because I couldn't remember my old one. But thanks, I'll go check it out and thanks.

Does it matter how you tk hirentotsu? I've been doing 2147B, but I'm having a lot of trouble with the loop. Not too sure if it's my timing with 5C/2C or something else.

Read these bits with the stuff in them. I think there's a thing that makes the thing you were having trouble with easier probably:

Watch this bit too, it's helpful for those fruit loops you're trying to get. It's in Japanish, and you need one of those silly online profiles, but it's a video so just follow your nose wherever it goes:

Yeah. Actually, I read both of those posts AND watched the video. lol. Does 2147B count as superjumping the TK? I've managed to loop it once, but it's nowhere near a consistent basis. Maybe I'll try 963214B and see what happens... Thanks, though!

I do 8214B. You're welcome try either methods. They're basically the same.

Depends on how fast you input 2147B, but yes, that's how you "sj tk 2147B".

I'd say try with 9214B / 8214B~

I've had much better luck with 8/9214B. ...Then I freak out and screw up the timing on the 5C/2C's. lol. At least now I know what to do. Thanks guys.

So for TK loops, whats a few ways to improve consistency? i know tk'in with 8/9 j.214b is the way to go and I delay the 5C>2C as long as possible but i still find it difficult to get 3 consistent loops.

Posted (edited)

I find it easier when I delay the first 2C as much as possible.

Other than that, keep at it until your wrists hurt.

I know mine did. D:

If you actually do get the timing correctly, then the only reason for you to drop it would be accidentally superjumping, I really got no tips on that.

If it's just the timing that screws you up, then go with what I said. I still panic when I do the first rep too fast, even if I actually can 5C pickup afterwards.

After a few days you'll also realize that the timing is not that strict. I often find my self thinking "that 2C was too fast, combo dropped", but I go for 5C nevertheless and pick them up.

There's nothing more in TKing than grinding it really.
