stuff

KoF13 doesn't have that much 1P stuff so you might not enjoy it. The people saying that KoF13 is one of the best fighters out there are strictly talking about the actual fighting/balance... which is very important considering it's a fighting game. :v:

I've heard a lot of good things about Extend's Abyss/Legion/whatever-its-called mode though. Plus everyone says CSE is the best of them all balance wise.

Blade associating with KoF is the funniest thought I've had all day.

On topic, SCV isn't too bad. Playing Natsu. Get at me for being a faggot.

1. SCV isn't worth $60 due to trashy story, trashy CaS system + items

sorry, but since when story matters on if a game its worth of being priced at $60

damn, and i was thinking that here at dl i would be safe of all this non sense about how sc5 sucks because the lack of lol story and lol single player modes :/

im starting to feel that sc has been catering the wrong "fanbase" for so long, that many of those so called fans have forgotten what fg are about (btw, this is not directed to you, blade)

hell on other site there is this dude that really believes that fighting games are not only about fighting other people anymore

seriously that kind of mentallity is just sad :/

Any game with an anime storyline caters to the wrong kind of fanbase. Mainly kids who are still dumb and naive who prefer to live in fantasy rather than accept reality.

The reality being that fighting games are all about competing with other people and improving their skills through said competition. You'll get ragged on for sure, but look past that and you realize it's a learning experience. Sometimes brutal honesty is the best solution.

Posted

In other news, different people play games (and fighting games in particular) for different purposes. For some, it's competition, but for some others, it's not. Then again, you are supposed to judge the game "objectively", without comparing it to your expectations, which is nigh-impossible for a living person.

Posted

And with all that when judging a fighting game for anything other than the fighting section, that makes said person an idiot.

Nothing less than an idiot either, like full on idiot.

A FIGHTING game is meant for that portion only. If you wanted a story than it's the wrong genre of game to begin with. If you wanted customization it's the WRONG genre of game to begin with, that being said SC has done well in that since 3.

You're supposed to be looking for the games that cater to your "needs"

@blade The Gem System is only a bad thing to the competitive side of the game and TOs trying to host events. Outside of that and anything else you seem to be looking for the game may or may not have it, we dunno what's in it yet.

One could argue that asking for a story in videogames is wrong in the first place, but there are many cases that prove it to be a valid storytelling medium. And honestly, I can't see why fighting games would be an exception: it's not like any other videogame wasn't made primarily for gameplay.

//For the record: I've never said that SCV is a bad game because its story is bad, partially because I haven't actually played it. It's just that I can't help being a devil's advocate when people are throwing opinions like they were absolute truths.

Don't get mad about what I said regarding SCV...it was just a summary of all your previous statements.

Also, as for myself...I'm what you call an isolated gamer, so I don't get to play others that often except online or if I take my whole friggan console to Chicago, which is a pain to do. What I look for in a game, is a stable enough and balanced enough system, coupled by enough content to be enjoyable for at least a few months...playable or replayable. So far the only games that have that "spark" of replayability for me are Dissidia Duodecim, BBCS, and Guilty Gear.

I'm not the type to just casually learn a game, I'm a completist, so I like to beat the crap out of it and have fun while I'm doing such. And while I'm not the best or most skilled fighter offline or online, I do like to learn a few things at my own pace.

I didn't make much progress with SCIV which overwhelmed me with it's ridiculous guest A.I. (remember fighting Apprentice anyone?). The cost of unlocking things was also a pain, half of the items weren't nearly as versatile as what you got in Broken Destiny (despite BD's graphical limitations). So I was really looking forward to a solid CaS mode to compensate for how boring I felt the rest of the cast was.

Even if Seung Mina or Kilik or Sophitia aren't in the game like they traditionally used to be, I was hoping I could still use their fighting styles in CaS...and I'm still hoping to make a female Nightmare among other things, complete with SC2 helmet and red hair. To say nothing of Rock or Astaroth or Zalsalamel's fighting styles (if they're even useable in this game).

Main point being, is this worth $60 or should I wait for a used or price drop? I'm a poor man, you know.

So I heard from the guide that Cervantes' strategy in this game is now about landing instant Psycho Crushers because without them he's very linear and predictable. I would definitely agree since they took out a lot of his teleport shit and easy attacks from 4.

After going into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber for a while I can occasionally do it on the left side, but once I hit the right side it starts failing to register because of lol non-silver controller d-pad. To anybody using Cervantes, it's a lot like doing EWGF. Just like doing F, N, DF+2, you can just roll it from D, DB+B. The command should look like the B is on top of the Back direction.

tell me, so far i have never abandoned a character on any game trough iterations, but this time alone it seems that i maybe would drop cervantes, he doesnt feel right (at least for me), and this is after 17 years of maining him :/

its not about that you cant have story on fighting games

its about putting more weight to that simple factor that its not the real purpouse of the game, its like saying that NFS the run is not good because it story is not a best seller material, ignoring all the driving stuff, wich its what matters

people keep asking for stuff like single player modes and story instead of asking for what it matters, better trainings, better tutorials, better netcode, online training rooms, better matchmaking systems, etc, etc

those idiots here are sending the wrong message to namco, they have made a really solid game with good netcode, but they would believe that is something that doesnt matter

perhaps the next time, they would make a game with a lot of fluff but not content because that its what those people seem to want

Sorry if it sounded like I was getting mad at you because I wasn't. :x

Unfortunately Rock and Zasalamel's styles aren't in the game. Astaroth's is though. Basically, the fighting is great this time around and the game has one of the best netcodes for today's fighters. However if you're into it just for the fun one player stuff (story, CaS, etc) then you should probably wait for the price to drop.

I have been doing Instant Geo Da Ray for a while now. Once I saw the computer doing the triple one and it did like 100 damage, I started on it. I would have to say its fucking necessary.

Also this debate is stupid. They promised things they did not deliver, that is about as bad it gets. Then again personal opinion is fighting games are about killing the other person. Not the whys behind their characters dislike eachother.

Posted

Not to mention i still don't see what they didn't deliver, because they delivered everything the SC community wished for.

Posted

Yeah I've heard multiple times his AI is evil lol.

Also word of advice everyone, beware a quick battle character in a big white dress with a manly voice. SHE WILL RAPE YOU!

Posted

If you dont see how they did not deliver what they said they would, just look up old articles. The stuff they derped about is useless to me so I do not care about it. Only thing I wanted was a character I liked to come black. I seem to remember someone getting butthurt about me expressing concern over that as well, despite me ending up being right.

Quick battle has only two things that were really difficult in my opinion. All the Apat cpus seemed better than the other characters, and the last one i fought was evil greg. I was unable to break his throws about half the time. Probably was one of the funnest fights however

Just saw a Captain Falcon CAS while doing Player Matches.

Also as a reminder, the 2nd equipment pack and music DLC comes out in about 8 hours. The 3rd and 4th music pack contains 5 songs each from SC2 and SC3.

Music Pack 3 contains:

-Brave Sword, Braver Soul (Kaminoi Castle - Sakura-Dai Gate, Taki and Mitsurugi Stage)

-Hubris (Xiwei Siege Ruins, Kilik and Xianghua Stage)

-Raise Thy Sword (Ostrheinsburg Chapel, Nightmare and Heihachi/Spawn/Link Stage)

-Guided By Wind (Village of the Wind, Talim Stage)

-Confrontation (Lakeside Colosseum, Necrid and Lizardman Stage)

Music Pack 4 contains

-Ephemeral Dream (Setsuka's Theme)

-Endless Warfare (Raphael's Theme)

-Courage Ablaze (Cassandra's Theme)

-Time Marches On (Zasalamel's Theme)

-Forsaken Sanctuary (Nightmare / Siegfried's Theme)

Just got my first hatemail. I started using Ezio in Ranked and clutched against a somewhat decent Pyrrha player. The instant the match ends he sends me a voice message and calls me garbage for mashing, which I did to a certain extent as I normally do with characters I'm not too familiar with. He was extremely salty.

EDIT: Got another one, this time from a Nightmare player who had beat me barely by ring-out Flapjack in a previous match. He was a typical shooter kid who taunted and teabagged after he won. After I got my due revenge he said my connection was bad. Which it wasn't.

No no that's not how this works lol. I say they delivered everything that needed to be delivered and they did what they said they would do.

YOU say they don't, that means you have to produce these facts to show it, otherwise you're just talking err..... typing.

typical shooter kid

I've been seeing these types pop up online a lot lately. Their parents need to beat them with an iron fist or something...

Also, weird question but...assuming there ARE DLC characters...do you think their fighting styles will be added to CaS?

That'd be pretty sweet if it were true.

Posted

If characters were added, and i'd only believe that 2 of them would be at max, they of course you'd be able to create characters using their style.

AKA those two would fit on the character select screen where the sword icon is in the middle of the cast.

for your first "question" daichi has stated (i dont remember where :/) that they would add more characters via DLC, also he has said that we can expect more guest characters

as for the second, i dont know, but it would make sense, at least for the non guest characters to be elegible for the CAS mode
