Not a bad idea, we can always go with the "airdasher" catch-all for the name. I wish I had friends I could rope into coming but most of the people that I know that like Bb/GG are out of state. Siiiigh.

I think I will since I'll be in school for 3 years here but I would like to hear what shtkn thinks about this. (If he can try to contact us online in Japan right now.)

Edit: What should we call the group? Also, I'll try to make a poster to post at Frubble to get people into the group.

Yeah, CO isn't just KoF and Crapcom games... I talk to the owner quite a bit, and he wants more variety there, but we need people to support it... Right now, I'm running KoF, but for those interested, I do play a bit of Battle Fantasia and other games before the sessions actually start (I'm a fighting game "philosopher/enthusiast" so my view on things is pretty different than most)... I'm also willing to teach people VF in an attempt to shatter a stigma, but that's another story... I'd personally like to see some MB action out here, 'cause it sucks playing training mode when there's no one to try stuff on, and I can't successfully connect to anyone online...

If there's support, just bring the people, and a setup at least, and we can get sessions in for you guys... That would probably build some hype for both psn/xbl GGXXAC+ and P4A as well...

I'm all about exposure for "great" fighting games, and breaking boundaries/stigmas... This is the place to do it imo...

I'll be there tonight, crazy hair and all, so just gimme a shout if you see me... Peace!

Oh yeah, Wallice, you play GG???

EDIT: No casuals tonight at CO... I'll keep you posted as much as possible though...

I'd go with either Dustloop San Diego or "San Diego Airdashers" or something like that, Roa.

I won't be here friday but if we want to go hang out at CO tonight I could do that. I'll keep checking the thread today.

Also I've been labbing Lambda some while desperately trying to find a sub and I find that she's actually really fun, so apologies in advance if I end up choosing her as a sub.

I may or may not go to CO tonight. I have a 7PM-10PM window to turn in my twelve page final paper, and as of now (4PM) I have 6 pages written. So if I end up needing all the time I can get, I won't be able to make it.

Also, lol Glod. I think we should all just sub each others characters so we can all be equally annoying to each other.

EDIT: Nevermind. Facebook says CO has been canceled tonight.

That sounds great actually. Once GGXXAC+ and Persona 4 Arena hits, I'd like to get more people exposed to it. And for a while, I contemplated going to CO and talking to the owner since I've met him a few times asking if we can have Fridays as our regular meetup but then Wallace says that it's usually Mondays, which I can't make to unfortunately, is there a reason why though? Just curious.

Anyway, guess I'll take a break from Naruto Generations and Tales of Graces f to go "thaw" out my Noel muscle memory, haven't been playing for a while, and I guess I'll go pick up Mu as well.

Graces is too good, I spent my whole weekend playing it basically. Funny how these games are easier for me now that I'm better at fighting games!

@Haki: I don't know if I will go, think I'll be tried from all the final projects and finals I'm doing this week.

@Glod: I'm not going with that name, and look for another sub *-_- *stare*, two Lambdas are already enough BS as it is... I'm just pulling your leg, I just want agreement from everyone on what will we want to call the group and it's good that you're subbing her, but to be a true Lambda player, you must cry and feel the emotions of Lambda in her story all the way through and her ----- cinematic then we'll talk.

(note: this my true definition of a Lambda player, nobody say nothing about it)

Still I want to know what shtkn thinks about it before I make the page.

Hahaha, no problem Roa. Arakune is still my #1 choice as far as who I actually want to get good at, Lambda just seems to be coming naturally somehow.

Now look what you did.

Nice avatar change XD

That's fine, I don't think we have enough people for Frubble anyways, so I was more just wondering if anyone wanted to play casuals over the weekend or something.

What emotions? :V うわー恥ずかしい

I'm up for some casuals this weekend.

lol my Arakune's not gonna be happy if everyone decides to sub Lambda. But it's all good, I can always fall back on my Carl or Tsubaki

Posted

Yeah, just to reiterate, I'm not gonna be here this weekend.

So I guess that means one of you guys will have to come get Watermelonz.

Posted

Since we were going to do it over the weekend instead of at Frubble, I figured we'd probably just meet somewhere.

Posted

If you guys need people have you ever considered inviting the Soul Calibur players to your Frubble gatherings? Maybe have some kind of Alt-Fighters League or something? Just an idea. Also hello! Been lurking this thread for a little since I may move back to SD at some point.

Posted

Not a bad idea actually, just a sort of "we play stuff that's not SF/tekken/marvel!" might be something to consider.

Posted

If we can find the players, there's really no reason not to. Our scene seems a little on the small side for Frubble anyways, so having more people playing different games will cement our place there and reduce the risk of having to change venues at the very least~

And Watermelon, what day were you guys free? Since me driving over is probably easier than me driving over and then all of us trying to go somewhere, is there any sort of place near you that we could go play at for a few hours? Like a school lounge or something perhaps?

Speaking of SC players, there's a handful of them in SD, the problem is that the way they schedule gatherings is random and that there's not much organization. It's basically just "Hmm, I feel like playing some SC casuals, Imma post in the SD thread on 8wayrun and hope someone replies."

But anyway I'm down for a group like that, but I too play Capcom games sometimes.

I'm gonna be staying with my parents for about a week starting this Saturday. I don't know if you would want to drive all the way from Poway to my place, which is literally less than 3 miles from the border. If it's just gonna be us two, we just can mash it up on Xbox Live.

I'm also gonna try and hopefully get my two friends to join us. One of them doesn't have a car so it's hard for him to go places. The other guy has ways to get around and lives around Ichi's area, but he seems like he has been pretty busy lately. I'll ask them what times of the week they're available and I'll try to work something out.

Regarding SC players: I am fine with co-opting other communities, SC included. Judging from what Ichi mentioned, giving them a "home" so to speak, would probably be a great boon to their scene.

The thing is though, if we're gonna co-opt one community, we might as well do it with all of them. I don't want us to just be like "oh you guys are cool cause you don't play SF4 or Marvel," and then tell those other two groups to fuck off. Being outwardly resentful like that will not look good in the long run.

I think we should try and keep it at just Dustloop games for now until we get a reasonably good turnout. Once we start getting a decent amount of core people then we can open it up and say "hey guys, come to frubble on fridays and set up whatever game you want, everyone is welcome!" That way, we won't have a small group that will be further diluted when other games appear.

Remember: I plan to post on the SoCal BB group about it once we all get back from break and can start making it out again. I'm sure that will draw a least a few people. Maybe.

...probably not.

Yeah, sounds good. I do like to mash Capcom fighters sometimes so Wallice's way is probably the best idea. Enjoy your breaks, everyone!

Edit: expanding on the idea, if we just present ourselves as a fighting game group like that, we might be able to get some people that wouldn't normally play BB/GG to try them out, too. Plus it sounds like we have a few SC5 players and I know a couple of you play SFxTekken, so I am really liking this idea. Everyone's a winner.
