Freezerburn Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 How close is MAT to either Schwartz or La Banquise? Yes, this is important.

pochp Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 14 minute walk to Schwartz's, 28 minute walk to La Banquise, according to google maps. Schwatz's closes at 2:30 AM on saturdays, and La Banquise is open 24/7 if that was your next question :P Brice, if I don't forget again, I'll bring it to MAT.

Freezerburn Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Alright, going to MAT then. I might just only watch though. CS2 dropped and I now know only one Bang BnB.
pochp Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Great, hopefully this will hype you enough to pick it up for next time. His combos changed a lot, I don't blame you for not wanting to participate, his BnBs don't look too hard though, so you could give it a shot if you have some free time. By the way, do you know if the pnp or imperial sport are coming?
Freezerburn Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I don't think either of them are coming this time around. And yeah, I'm been messing around with Bang a little bit and trying out his corner pushes and combos. I'd participate but I'm still at a phase where I reflex to his old stuff and it ruins it (his most basic CT BnB is gone!) I still might play just for the heck of it, since I haven't even really tested him out on people yet. See how far 5A gets me. Any other Bang players around? I remember kaeru played Bang but no idea if he's sticking by the art of manliness. Still, excited about smoked meat and poutine.
pochp Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Oh well, you're gonna have to rep Ottawa then. They should come, I'm sure they'd enjoy it Hehe, last major we went to Dunns for both poutine and smoked meat, maybe this time we'll do one for supper and one for midnight snack if people are up for that. 5A is still as fast as ever, they just nerfed instant blocking and the reward for landing it. Kaeru still plays bang, and he should be there. Monster King also plays bang, but I haven't heard from him in a while.
kirbster Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 okay i'll be at HQ around 1pm so if you wanna come early i'll be there early :D ps: platina get :3 Aiteeeeeee I'll try to show up early as well even if I'm hungover as fuck. Can stay until like 7ish, then it's time for some actual Tekken practice lol. So I'll have lunch and leave.
Bibiquadium Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Who said I was practicing for MAT Unless its a MAT-only day at HQ today
kaeru Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 (edited) Oh well, you're gonna have to rep Ottawa then. Freezerburn: 5a has nerfed startup from 5 frames to 6 frames, it's now the same as most people's 5a. 5a has buffed recovery from 12 frames to 9 frames. This is a huge buff because of it 5a has buffed frame advantage, from -3 to 0 (if not cancelled) As for bang's bnb, his corner carry combo takes alot of practice. Alot of practice. ALOT of practice. It's not hard but you must grind it a ton. His best combos are not available much in online matches, check the bang forums for the real stuff. Bang gained massive combo freedom, which to some players is a bad thing. It's very difficult to figure out what the best thing to do is. You can make your own combos easily, just remember the following: If you want damage, avoid using 5a, 2a, jD or webnail in combos as MUCH as possible (sometimes it can't be helped though). Use Super Crash and Air Super Crash once EACH per combo. Don't ever do the same one twice, but try as much as you can to use both one time. Getting seals is very difficult, the combos that yield seals are very strict in timing and corner specific. So much so that i've only seen Nezu ATTEMPT them in matches, and he dropped them 50% of the time in every single match. The biggest issue is that the corner gobbles up your webnail before it can hit the opponent. FRKZ is more super saiyan then ever before. I don't have the proper words to describe what it has become. It's Bangworthy. Edited June 2, 2011 by kaeru
pochp Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I know you guys like to not read posts, but please put what you can bring in this spreadsheet. It will help organize things. https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ap4GlIscp9X8dGp4OW1Yc3lxSU5iQnJ3Z3RDRFNXVHc&hl=en_US&authkey=CIXN0cQK Also, looking at these results, I o.O http://shoryuken.com/forum/threads/ufgt7-results-and-shoutouts.137668/ (PR Balrog #2 BBCS2, Jwong top 5 in tekken)
Freezerburn Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Knowledge Yeah, I read some of his changes and I thought they were appropriate changes but when it dropped, it felt really foreign. There are a lot of things I'm still getting used to. Just simple things like the untech time for 2C or that 5D is quicker but doesn't launch anymore. I'm inconsistent as fuck on the corner carry (assuming that's the 6C IAD 6C 623B push). My execution is easily the worst aspect of my play so I'll get it like once every three tries. Still, his corner damage is hilarious, especially off command grab. I haven't bothered learning the FRKZ j6C loop because I noticed seals were pretty tough. I haven't watched any pro play yet as well so I'm strictly going off what I've seen in the challenge mode. I need to get that grind on.
Nini Heart Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Real quick question. Who's bringing the laptop for the brackets? Blade? I hope not Yea I'll bring my laptop for the brackets as usual. Say hello to rigged brackets as usual.
AirMaster Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Blade will enter your name in the tournament just to make sure he gets a bye.
pochp Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Nah, Blade is probably going to rig the brackets like only he can. He's gonna play Zeero 1st round, and then right away in losers, the loser of Kousaka vs Vice-Taicho. More seriously though, would it be a horrible idea to seed the brackets with what I think players' strengths are? Location for sure though, but I have to figure out how.
AirMaster Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I can take care of the bracket like at nemesis if you want.

The challenge number 10 is a perfect example of a strong FRKZ combo. It doesnt involve the j4C loop either. The j4C loop just isnt strong anymore because there are better moves to cycle through, proration wise. A strong FRKZ combo will cycle through 2D (once) 6D (once) jD (once) 5C (as many as possible) 6C (as many as possible). That's the entire drive behind FRKZ combos now. You can get very creative on how you link the moves, you don't have to do what pros do either. Learning to j4C loop, however, will naturally improve your execution with everything else. I generally don't like seeding as it means good players don't meet early so it's like helping out the better players get further, but it also means we get more hype matches as the tourney progresses so not sure. I think you could do like the ottawa guys with seeding pools. That was a pretty good idea imo. It served as a good warm up and helped everyone get in to the mood of things and made sure no one rigged the damn brackets.
pochp Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 No, people really disliked pools for the MvC tournament at Ottawa last time. I think the best way to run the tournament is to do what satisfies the most people and is standard, in this case, double elim 2/3. If it were just up to me, I'd do single elim best of 1, locked characters, and teams. [RANT]I mean, with the current format, the better players usually win, but what's the point of having a tournament if you already know who's going to win. I'll go with it because I support the scene and want people to attend these events, but honestly, when I pay my tourney fees, I know I'm giving someone else my money. Do FT5s if you want to see who's better than who, or start a danisen league if you want to see who's the best in a community. Also, pools take forever and most people will participate in more than one game, so it just can't work in our case.[/RANT]
crankypunk Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Just FYI Friday the HQ will have no stations at all .. I need to take them away in preparation for saturday. Thanks
pochp Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 you mean no xboxes? so if we bring ps3s on the crts we're good? edit: oh you meant friday. sry.

You could try to get good enough to the point where you see the tourney fee as an investment where you're breaking even at worst(3rd place in a tournament with low attendance) and at best getting enough money to really get hammered if you actually win. The moment you stop thinking it's possible to lose is when you step your game up. I have honestly never gone into a match thinking *sigh there's no point, i'm just gonna lose* as that's like the first step to getting demoralized and from there, it's just a never ending spiral of frustration. PS: Don't forget to give Steb the combos plox PPS: Hope you guys don't forget the converter PPPS: Never give up Pedro. When push comes to shove, you can always walk the path of the dark side:Tierwhoring As for pools, I guess it was fun since we weren't a lot lol. Edited June 2, 2011 by Nini Heart
Sophisticat Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 ... I, for one, really might tierwhore CS2, or at least switch to Valk for a while. CS2 Haku is proving too much work to get good with atm. His meter gain and 2a nerf really hurt. That said, I still expect to blow people up in the corner with 6k combos. Make e'm salty with a low-tier hero.
