Yeah, whether or not it's NEC or another one less crowded tournament, matters not. I can respect whatever you choose in the end as I'm not you and your reasons are very personal. But Psykotik brings up a fantastic point, whether it's breaking a tournament losing streak in Philly, win some money at local in Ottawa, sleep throughout BB and GG in Toronto, eat some Taisho in New york, show Montreal to our fellow american players, get exploded by Souji's Teddie at 3 AM in the hotel room, the tournament experience is bound to let you meet people, have a good time and care for them. I'll even add to it and say that if you care for the people you'll still spend time with, it can be a perfect fuel to motivate improvement.

This is super personal here and I'm not saying I'm right, but I've always wanted to contribute in the FGC in the various ways I can. For a while, I didn't think the best asset you could provide this community would be improving as a player. When you play someone that you'll only meet in 3-4 months after that one weekend, when you talked to them about the game, when you start connecting with them through playing, you want more ways to improve that connection with people. Playing the game and understanding it's mechanics is a conduit for communication, almost like speaking a language. I've felt the barrier of interacting through fighting games with another person at last year's NEC, think it was me playing an hour or so of guilty gear casuals with Troll Badguy I believe. Had barely been playing for a month, but he was patient, understood that my skill level was low and just played it out while being friendly. There was not a super active interaction between us because I had no idea wtf to do outside of press the buttons on the controller. Then it clicks, the reason why everyone travels and meet each other is because of this communication tool called a video game that's fun and entertaining as hell. Being more knowledgeable, playing and evolving as a player gives me far more tools to maximize the enjoyment out of meeting new players to fight against. It's a mutual exchange, whether it be them motivating me or me reaching a point where I can motivate other players to experience a something close to mine, in the end we both win. I want to get better so you can get better to and vice versa. And that's the best asset you can have to contribute to the FGC and for yourself as well.

Heck, that even brings back the reason I picked up a copy of BB around January/february. Saw people having fun, matches looked entertaining so I decided to fuck around with Ragna, now I'm motivated enough to be a good moderator for my character's boards on Dustloop and in 3 weeks, I want him to be my best character across all fighting games I've played. When's october... oh wait

Anyway, I doubt we'll end up in a situation where we are limited in available car spots and that this is what will truly prevent someone to attend. If someone can't come, it'll most likely be their schedule or money constraints. We'll see. Again, not saying what's right for me is right for you. But damn the list of stories to share is long haha

IT'S LIKE CRACK! DON'T DO IT!

I miss you guys T.T

I'm definitely not active anymore at home with this crazy schedule and lack of scene that exists for BB/GG. BUT I've found some Soul Calibur 4 players (lol) to mess around with and some are interested in CP... Here's to hoping for a revival of myself at some point, as well as a new scene to provide hype everywhere.

Looks like I overestimated the number of other people who would play Blazblue tonight (at least 1). Someone please come!

I can definitely come now and then, probably nothing on the level of a schedule, tonight I was busy playing the gears who had done wrong and felt bad about it.

If you're reading this Kaeru, I found my wallet -,-

What day are you guys leaving for TTT?

TTT? I'm assuming toronto top tiers AKA the upcoming toronto tournament. If so, we'll probably see tonight. I want to leave saturday morning to save on hotel costs

Yes, that one. I MIGHT (huge emphasis) be able to come if there is still room cause I MIGHT be getting a job soon, but I won't be able to say until it happens

:D, that's neat. Then quick reminder, for the toronto event, the limit to say whether or not you'd be coming would be the pre-reg closing date, AKA sunday 13th if I'm not mistaken.

I'd only be registering for BB and any other free game anyway :P I think they said that those are at the door/on the day of the event

Cool cool, just make sure to double check whether or not you can register venue fee at the door with russel or something. According to their rules, you could get spectator and just sign up for blazblue, saving your gas part in the process.

We'll (Brice and prob lvl-5) sort out some details tonight as to whether or not we accomodate our plans for Psykotik and whatever else is needed here. Probably an update tomorrow about it.

October Monthly Mashfest : When's BBCP Edition

When : October 13th, 5pm to midnight

Where : Foonzo 1245 rue Drummond, Montreal

Main Events : Everything is free entry. There may or may not be a prize for the winners.

Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus R

Singles, 2/3 rounds, 2/3 games, Double Elimination, the usual. Start time is 6PM

Blazblue Calamity Trigger

Singles, 2/3 rounds, 1 game, single elimination.

Blazblue Continuum Shift

Singles, 2/3 rounds, 1 game, single elimination.

Blazblue Continuum Shift 2

Singles, 2/3 rounds, 1 game, single elimination.

Blazblue Continuum Shift : Extend

Format will depend on time remaining.

Side Events : If we have time, space, and interest, we can run some melty/aquapazza/arcana/chaoscode/SKM/... on the side, but with this lineup... it really depends on how many show up.

... but that's not all ...

There was also interest for both an Unlimited and Ragna-Only Extend tournaments. I was thinking of running these on Thursday October 17th, maybe in addition to a more traditional tournament, as a final farewell to Extend. (the following weekend is the toronto tournament and I'll be too busy with midterms. the next thursday after that is the day that bbcp comes out. so soon :D)

Edit : might be worth saying the rules concerning the macros in guilty gear : 1) if you play stick, no macros. 2) if you play pad, do not use the glitch, we're trusting you guys, don't be a dick. If this actually becomes an issue we'll use stricter rules next time. 3) no double justice missles.

This month's mashfest sounds pretty cool. I've got 1 week to try and fail at learning a +R Baiken combo. Ugh, I was hoping to never remember CS1 Rachel ever existed ;.; I'm pretty hyped for Calamity Trigger though. I never played it.

Also, if a Ragna-Only Extend tourny happens on Oct 17th, I'll be counting the number of Inferno Dividers I see for lols. A more traditional tournament that night would be a nice warm up for BBCP, in my opinion. We should try our best to have one.

I say, add the Optional Fun Rule to the mashfest: You can't play the same character across any version of BlazBlue during the tourneys. Not everyone can do it because they're character specialists, but it's a fun little challenge I think. It ALSO encourages and justifies tier whoring, I guess? But it's not like we actually have players that changed characters with versions in order to stay on top of things. Nini doesn't exist these days as far as I know.

After being gone from Foonzo for a month, it felt GREAT to be back and playing people.

Shout outs to Sam's friend playing platinum (Should of asked for your name / nickname)

I could teach you how to play vesus Tager for 8.95$.

Just ask these satisfied and salty customers.

- WakeUpDP

- Brice

Also, shout outs to Pedro's valk, and telling me what kind of drink could make me drunk the fastest on the 13th.

Shoutouts to doing 8.5k combos in a match.

I didnt want to impose this rule, but I'll probably do that myself and encourage anyone who wants to try it themselves as well. That's if I have time to practice up though...

CECC update:

We'll probably leave on friday from montreal around 5-6pm. Don't mind picking you up psykotik, but be advised:

-We'll probably arrive late due to leaving mtl while there's traffic and picking you up. Talking about 1-2 am.

-Can you afford 2 days of hotel?

Me, Brice and Lvl-5 are ok with it, just gotta know if on your end that's fine (Both psykotik and reyntime)

@Psykotik, if it's not on these terms, I'll just say that picking you up would be just demanding a bit too much on my (our) end. Unless maybe there's a better option you'd have in mind?

I'm a-ok with this. But just so we're clear, this means you'll be in Ottawa at ~7-8?

Sorry, of you're leaving on Friday I can't make it. It's two of my friends birthdays and we're celebrating at foonzo. It really pains me to say it
