Sophisticat Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 There's a tournament on saturday. Try to keep up, sophis. I never heard about this tourney. D: Oh wait, is it Nemesis? Didn't know it was this weekend. :< And KoFXIII isn't a "passable" fighter. It's a godlike fighter. All the more reason I should give it a shot!
BladeOfJustice7 Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 I never heard about this tourney. D: Oh wait, is it Nemesis? Didn't know it was this weekend. :< I can't blame you since neither Pedro, Brice nor myself got an official memo for not being part of nemesis. So it's been kept under the radar. Nolan, when you get the chance download the kof13 demo and give it a shot. That's what I did EDIT: I want everyone's thoughts on St1ckBuG's article on the front page.
Bibiquadium Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I've read the TL;DR as I was too busy updating Sankishin, but it pretty much concluded with what I had in mind.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 I noticed you were making some modifications. Are we still up for modding sankishin's look or am I asking a retarded question?
Bibiquadium Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Perhaps I will, since we're using Sankishin to represent MAD, I need to make it as representative as possible to the public.
Sophisticat Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 It's a good article. I feel it really has more to do with BB not taking Westerners into account for its playstyle than anything else, imo. It's a game geared towards JP arcade players first and foremost whereas SFIV was directly marketed to the US. Being NAH or whatever doesn't have much to do with it. It's simply not a game people play like they play Marvel or SF. So the "demographics" part is probably the bit I agree most with, but only in the sense that it doesn't target the kind of players who would want to come out to tourneys. :\ Regardless, we do need our own EVO. Only good games. None of that SFIV crap. Bring in the Kof '98's and SFIII: 3rd Strike, and let it be known that we take on what's competitive, not just what's popular at the moment.

I don't know maybe it's because I'm tired, but I can't figure out what MAD stands for. Montreal Air Dashers?
Rhannmah Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I want everyone's thoughts on St1ckBuG's article on the front page. 1- Fuck EVO, if they think SFxT is a more worthwhile game than BB, we don't need them 2- Stop fucking netplaying, get out of your house, stop being scared to lose 3- Fuck the FGC, they've been playing MvC2 for 10 years so they wouldn't recognize a good game if a truckload of them ran them over 4- Stream monsters have an IQ of about 70 (barely functional) 5- Let's run our own shit, if the regular fighting game community tournament organizers don't care for us, let's give the middle finger to their events and do our own thing. P.S. FUCK foonzo, if it wasn't our only possible meetup place i'd never set foot in there again.
mongmong Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 P.S. FUCK foonzo, if it wasn't our only possible meetup place i'd never set foot in there again. Sorry if you feel like that about Foonzo. We try to accommodate for everyone and unfortunately we can't make everyone happy. Hopefully next time you will not have to experience that again.
pochp Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 (edited) I made a thread on sankishin so we can plan for upcoming out of town tournaments without having all the relevant posts scattered in this thread. Please go post here : http://www.sankishin.com/board/viewtopic.php?p=330#p330 if these tournaments interest you. About st1ckbug's post, I pretty much agree with everything he said. The Montreal scene is doing exceptionally well, and I'm proud of all of us. I'm not yet convinced that our games should be separated completely from the evo lineup games, but I do think that it's a possibility. If there was one thing I could add, it would be that the BB player demographic probably applies to some of the characters, I dunno I get the impression that people that main the same characters tend to have stuff in common, but that's completely irrelevant lol. Eh? What happened at foonzo? Eh we were like 2 people per setup, on 4 setups, and we were asked to make room for more people, so we moved our stuff and became more on 2 setups. I understand and don't really mind, but I guess I'm the opposite of Rhannmah in this situation. Edited January 13, 2012 by pochp
Bibiquadium Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 (edited) We can't expect to hog the whole Foonzo on our own, they are a business and need to accommodate as many people as possible, we can't just barge in there and take all the setups and be 2 people on each, they aren't running for the sake of the MTLBB community, they moved two of our setups which had a total of 4 people in order to serve 8+ customers, if I had a business I'd do the same. Sorry if one of the setup was used mostly for stick repairs but this won't happen again anytime soon. Edited January 13, 2012 by Bibiquadium
Zeero Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 so like just wondering are u guys actually planning to come/at least interested to our tourney in feb? =(
Bibiquadium Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Some are from what I heard. You guys should have some visit from MTL
kaeru Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Zeero, you can expect a TRUCKLOAD of us on our way, with a trailer attached to carry our HYPE. Toronto will never be the same.. again. Edit: i can understand what happened at Foonzo. I'm sorry i was using up one of the lounge cells for arcade stick repairs and testing. I'll try to keep it more on the downlo next time. Let's all get along, yea?

Let's all get along, yea? It wasn't your table that was the problem since it was quite busy with people...it was the two tables in the back that literally had only two people per table doing almost nothing. They just wanted to give space to other customers, which is completely understandable.
Rhannmah Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I feel you guys are downplaying what happened yesterday at foonzo. Bibi and Pedro, I don't understand how you guys can be okay with what happened. It blows my mind. It's not that I'm an egotistical prick that can't share. It's all about how it was done. Also, it has nothing to do with you guys doing some stick repairs. Sorry if you feel like that about Foonzo. We try to accommodate for everyone and unfortunately we can't make everyone happy. Hopefully next time you will not have to experience that again. Well since you took the time to read my little rant, I'll dignify it with a more elaborate response since I didn't think foonzo admins would come here and read the posts. I feel like that because you make me feel like a 2nd rate customer. And this isn't the first time either, this is in a long string of disappointments. This pretty much dates back to when you decided to take out the CRT tv setups without telling us, and right there is the base of my frustration. You don't ever tell us anything. You just do stuff that has a big impact on our customer experience without doing even as little as warning us about what's going to happen, let alone discuss it with us. I think we deserve better; as far as i have seen, we are your most loyal customer group. We come twice a week, and I don't know about the others, but personally, I spend roughly 10$ each time; that's 80$ a month. That's a lot of money. In the past months, we've had to deal with setups being taken away, reduced space, really uncomfortable setups. Now that the renovations are over, it's better, but it's still a far cry from being comfortable in terms of setups. First of all, the couches are sideways from the screens, which makes it really impractical to play on. Sitting sideways on a couch for extended periods of time is all sorts of bad. We can always take chairs and sit in front (that is, IF there are any chairs available), but then we get to be annoyed by a lamp dangling from the ceiling right in front of us, always hanging in our field of vision. I mean, seriously? Did you guys think this through or did you do this on purpose? All these problems would've been avoided if you'd told us beforehand about it. Also, before you say it, I'd much rather go play on the face-to-face arcade style cabs, but the thing is, I don't play stick. Many of us don't. If there was some PS3 cabs with usb ports for controllers, this would be solved. There's also the problem that now, there are no CRT tv's so there's no way to play PS2 games anymore. Your prices are through the roof now; 4$ for a 7-up? REALLY? There's also been rumors in the past months that we were too loud, that we took too much space, that we didn't buy enough, etc. I don't know if any of this is true or not, but like I said, 2nd rate customer. Now as to what happened yesterday, it comes down to this again; making me feel like a nuisance. You guys just came to us and told us, litterally: The space you're taking is excessive, I'm asking you to move. You guys wouldn't have done that if we were independent clients, now would you? You didn't come and bother the Street Fighter players behind me, they're not part of our group. But the question is, why would you treat us any differently? Is it too much to ask to be treated like a human being? You could've come to us and ASKED us if it was ok to move because there's this bunch of 7 people over there all cramped over a table for 4, I'm a reasonable human being, I can share space. But it's always like this. You never tell us anything, it feels like we're this annoying bunch of customers that you can't really get rid of, but sure as hell won't take anything away from your 'real' customers. I think we deserve better. I think -I- deserve better.
kaeru Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 The only thing i want to point out is that those couch setups are not designed for fighting games. They were meant for party games, or board games with TV entertainment. We've sort of broken their design by playing our fighting games over there, and yea our unfortunate situation with the cabs is our PS3 pad warriors would have considerable trouble. But they dont treat us like 2nd rate customers, Theyre often helping us out and treating us with privilege. Examples of this is keeping tabs for what we buy (they do not do this with other customers), they let us use the party game area to play fighting games, they never complain when were loud, they stay open passed their opening hours to just sit and chat with us and etc, and theyre going to start helping us advertize MAD which is happening soon. I understand why you feel wronged, Rhannmah, and i want to make it better. But Foonzo is not as cold hearted as you make them out to be. Lets find a solution together and put this behind us !
