Bane Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I honestly hope there's a Teddie much better than I am to body me. Downloading everything he does and dissecting why he does it may help me out.
Milln Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 I COMPLETELY AND WHOLLY RECOMMEND EVERYONE SHOW UP TO FIGHT NIGHT. It happens tomorrow starting at 4. Who's coming Friday? I'm just getting a head count. I know Klein and AXIS if he doesn't decide to dodge us(haha) I'm okay with any number of people, so if you wanna come hang, get some last minute practice and info, I welcome anyone to my abode Friday evening. Really excited for King of Bling. Pumped to see Kyle and ZomB again!
LastStarSaviour Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I'm hoping to actually drive up there myself this time around. However, with no gas money to do so it may be impossible. @Kyle: That's pretty much how I feel altogether. I can see some problems that Liz players suffer, but after literally playing 1000 matches of nothing but Mitsuru vs Liz (I think I have like 4600 matches played already in total) with some of the best Lizzzies in the business via SpaceBace (pretty knowledgeable and went on par with SKD and a few others) plus Volpe (to this little dude's credit, he does know him some Liz) I can't see those problems being anything that bad. Plus her combos are fun. Also, looking forward to getting to fight you. I will finally get to write off Naoto as a match-up I've officially learned.
Seiki Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I'll be there friday Milln! Star if you need a ride you can tag along. Same goes for Patrick and whoever else is in the near nashville area.
LastStarSaviour Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I may need the pick-up Naimat. Also, I think I have something wacky for you guys' little vid. Found it out a while ago with Mitsuru, it's kind of funny. I'll un-veil it if it works on Friday since I don't have any recording equipment.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) Ohio almost confirmed for 3-players. I'll give a definite tomorrow and see if anyone else is wanting in on that P4A. state v state. Looking forward to seeing the ol' gang. Niamat, JackieC, Lee the BEAST & Old Griggs. Wow @ all this Eliz whining. I hope EMBA can come and show everyone how frustratingly good she can be. You watch the FT10 video w/ Mitsuru & Eliz? supposedly the worst match-up in the game but that mage.... omfg. She touches you three times and She WINS. If you're not doing that, you are playing the character wrong. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHi6fKWvmZs Which is literally exactly what we just covered in discussing her risk/reward. She capitalizes with high damage hit-confirms but in return has to pick the opponent's brain to get those hit-confirms while avoiding getting wrecked. As for that match, the Mitsuru was relatively free. He refused to abandon his habits even after repeatedly being trapped by the same tactics(easily avoidable tech traps). Damosu is really good, but him vs. Satochi isn't a great representation of the match-up, imo. He's a solid player, but his refusal to adapt leads me to question his capacity to rep Mitsuru. Liz is amazing until your opponent understands her weaknesses and takes advantage of them. Then she's only as good as you are at keeping your opponent guessing. Sorry for wanting a couple useful tools for my character. . . I understand that she has her own strengths and I will play to them, I was just being wistful. It won't reflect in my play at all, so I can show you myself how frustrating Liz can be. In any case, fuckin' hype for this weekend. Me and Vocal might be able to make it up tomorrow depending on his plans. It'll be fun seeing the competitive year off with a bang before buckling down and becoming productive 'n shit. Milln Posted October 8, 2012 Author Posted October 8, 2012 Sorry for wanting a couple useful tools for my character. . . Yeah, wtf is wrong with you? @Friday peeps: I'll be at the arcade Friday night helping out with machine and breaker tests with the stream. It's open for play that day if you want to give Jason your venue few early. From there we can slide over to my place.
LastStarSaviour Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I recommend watching the whole set Volpe. Satochi did do poorly in adjusting to Damosu in the first few matches, but he managed to get his shit in gear and started a reversal. Even Damosu himself, commmented saying "Is this match-up really 7-3? Lol."
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) I recommend watching the whole set Volpe. Satochi did do poorly in adjusting to Damosu in the first few matches, but he managed to get his shit in gear and started a reversal. Even Damosu himself, commmented saying "Is this match-up really 7-3? Lol." Like I said, he's a solid player. He stepped up his fundamental game and used Mitsuru's strengths to his advantage. It's just his static play that makes me think we'd see a better representation of the MU if a faster thinking Mitsuru were to be pitted against Damosu. I'll re-watch it and point out what I mean later, if I still think it's true. Yeah, I'm almost finished with the set. I don't think he's specifically bad at adapting, but he just doesn't know the match-up. He falls for Damosu's tech traps without exploring his options, so he's vulnerable to it time and again. He respects his air presence way too much, too. I think it's just a matter of him not knowing Elizabeth and Damosu's terrifying stage presence. He's so caught up in the match that he doesn't try to find Liz's weaknesses, and instead relies on what he knows with Mitsuru, which lets him win. Since I can't read his mind, I can't tell if he's bad at adapting, or deliberately making the decision to stick with what he knows. However, since he doesn't fully understand the match-up I stand by my point that it wasn't a proper representation of Mitsuru vs. Elizabeth even though he won. /nolife. I need a damn job. Volpe-de-Glacio Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 That or Damosu is just godlike. He is, but Satochi didn't understand enough to press his advantage in places where Damosu left himself open, or defend himself from his pressure when there were holes. If he'd forced Damosu to alter his own play, I wonder how that match might've ended up. Even so, going back to this vid I've learned a bit more about where I can make use of Liz's strengths and improve my own game. Before I was just like 'amg damosu haf my babiez', but now I'm taking notes. Time to watch the NEC qualifiers.
ZomB Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 There wasn't really any Liz presence in the qualifiers, unfortunately. But yeah, pay special attention to spacing and movement -- resets and tech are all fantastic, but the difference between a good Liz and a great Liz is where she is on the screen.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) There wasn't really any Liz presence in the qualifiers, unfortunately. But yeah, pay special attention to spacing and movement -- resets and tech are all fantastic, but the difference between a good Liz and a great Liz is where she is on the screen. That's exactly what I was looking at. Damosu's shown me a couple of safer methods of closing the gap between myself and the opponent so I can take advantage of her strength at close range, as well as inspired me to possibly find a more efficient way to pull off some of her harder techniques. It's like every time I review Japanese Liz footage there's some extra gem about the ways she can control space. @ Qualifiers - I heard Damosu entered and fought a couple people, but I can't find the vids. ed: didn't realize it was a stream. I'll wait for it to be uploaded. Edited October 8, 2012 by Volpe-de-Glacio
ZomB Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 There are archives. But I don't remember seeing him on stream at all if he was, his performance was very underwhelming.
Seiki Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I'm on xbl if anyone wants to do some p4u sparring.
Urichinan Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 So, have we decided on who will be playing for TN in the state vs. state tournament?
Astaroth136 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 So, have we decided on who will be playing for TN in the state vs. state tournament? Easily Chandler and Star. Last spot (or 3 other spots if it's 5v5) is up for grabs.
Milln Posted October 9, 2012 Author Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) If Bishop comes, it should be him, I think. Jackie definitely, he's the spirit of Tennessee and so whacky. Star is solid and patient. If Bishop doesn't show, I would like to represent. Other nominations from me would be Astaroth, Volpe, Naimat, or Boom Cube. Edited October 9, 2012 by Milln
LastStarSaviour Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Jackie and me repping TN? I'll do everything in my power to protect this house.
Urichinan Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 From what I've heard of Bishop I'd say he'd be the best third choice as well. Guys, I just found a glitch that lets Shabby keep the Titanomachia properties on her Persona after it's over. :3 It's pretty useless, because it goes away after you get hit or do Titan again, but it's awesome.
Milln Posted October 9, 2012 Author Posted October 9, 2012 quartz parchment shears? Took me a second to realize what this was. I was like "What is he saying... .... Oh. Got it. Ha." Jackie and me repping TN? I'll do everything in my power to protect this house. I need to see you ride up in a limo and take off your sunglasses. Guys, I just found a glitch that lets Shabby keep the Titanomachia properties on her Persona after it's over. :3 It's pretty useless, because it goes away after you get hit or do Titan again, but it's awesome. What are Titanomachia properties? All I know about Shadow Labrys is I hate horn fire and she gives out Persona cards unless the player remembers to make Asterius block.
Astaroth136 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 I'll be playing/practicing all week starting tomorrow, so hit me up!
Urichinan Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 What are Titanomachia properties? All I know about Shadow Labrys is I hate horn fire and she gives out Persona cards unless the player remembers to make Asterius block. Her Persona can only be broken by supers (Unless you hit her), all of the Persona's attacks are faster, some have better proration, some have extra hitstun, her 214C/D always cause a ground-bounce, and it recovers faster after every attack. To get it to work, you have to break Asterius with a super, without hitting Shadow Labrys. To make it stop you have to hit her, or she has to do Titanomachia again.
