Thackston Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 (edited) I love this community as well, yes I am well aware of how short of time I have spent with you. However there is only one thing that will always have my heart eternal, I will always go to it when it needs me, hold it when it is crying, and have sweet sweet unprotected sex with her. I love you bumblebee tuna. Edited February 27, 2013 by Thackston
Alphakami Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Feel free to marry my mother. Why buy the cow when you get the sex for free?

tret_tree Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 These new midscreen Bang combos are so complicated. EDIT: Errrrr it happens at about 6m8s
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 (edited) >which is why it's part of the whole shebang, not all of it Again, I haven't disagreed with this at all. My whole point is that videos give you an understanding of the meta because you are directly witnessing the data that is a part of the whole. >Not necessarily accurate results. Especially if they're all one-shots. Especially if 60% of the entrants decide to be silly and all append -kaka to their names and play Tao. Or the recent Azrael. A one shot match is still data. No one's talking about vids where people are just playing for shits and giggles. >Nuh, the term metagame depicts not only in-game stuff, but also what could happen outside the game, usually in terms of knowledge. Which only supports my point of how the term would apply to fighting games. Knowledge in a fighting game would entail knowing what each character is capable of, how certain match-ups work, etc. >Hearsay isn't worthless. Maybe I did take it to its logical extreme, then. I'm used to debating people who throw the phrase 'anecdotal evidence' around as an insult to your intelligence, so that's my bad. Either way, you can't use hearsay well in an argument, but you can use match-up data gathered from videos. Edited February 27, 2013 by Volpe-de-Glacio
Bane Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 These new midscreen Bang combos are so complicated. Granted, that was a fatal counter. From what I've seen, a lot of FC combos are loops.
tret_tree Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Still silly, lol. Dora was fishing for that FC for a while; he'd just throw out the quite negative-on-block 3C, and RC if Jin blocked.

It's entirely possible that what is in a video is helpful, it's also entirely possible that it's not. Alllll i'm saying. Literally. All i'm saying is that you need to take everything with a grain of salt and that's not what i'm seeing, which worries me. http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2013/02/27/eigomangas-fighting-game-vanguard-princess-could-be-this-years-skullgirls/ Yup. Ooh, i've played Vanguard Princess before. It's actually kind of okay. Akatsuki is way better, though. Edited February 28, 2013 by Milln
Anne Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 I don't care much for Vanpri (it's pretty at least) but I just think that article is pretty, yeah....
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 (edited) >Yes, data that could be accurate or could be false is still data. Data is data. If you decide the metagame is decided purely from results, then data is data is data. Nothing is false or accurate. There are those who play well, and those who do not. You can't have one without the other, so no information is inherently weaker or stronger than any other information. >I'm saying that, the way you guys tend to laud videos, I feel that you're taking them a little too much as "this is what it is." We laud videos because the Japanese players we watch consistently play well, and it's very entertaining to watch them push characters to their limits. I don't know what you mean by "this is what it is." When I'm watching a video, I don't think it's anything but a video of two human players facing off. Humans make mistakes, humans also play skillfully. It is what it is. Edited February 28, 2013 by Volpe-de-Glacio

It's moving toward topics I don't care to discuss. Edited February 28, 2013 by Milln
Seiki Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 To me videos do help if you have experience playing the game you are watching. Otherwise a large context is missing when you observe the video, so yeah you might gather small gems of valuable information, but most of what you see might be a misinterpretation that is due to a lack of a proper frame of reference, which is experience. So yeah you played all the other BB versions, but still CP is different. With character changes, new frame data, new system mechanics etc. there is a lot of uncertainty in relying on your experience with older versions of BB to confidently assess what is going on. It might not seem that way because everything looks similar, but like every version of BB it never feels completely the same. Assessing how the changes impact the game takes personal experience to truly understand.
Bane Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 They said I would hate fighting Jackie. I didn't believe them. I was wrong ;-; DP too strong ^ over 4 months ago. You would think I would remember such a traumatizing experience.
Mr.Minionman Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 ^This. Once you fools embrace the glory of "fuck everything I do what I want" you'll have an outlook in life about as awesome as mine. *Riot stomps out the window* And the secret to beating Chandler's DPs is to DP him more. *tested*
LastStarSaviour Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Anyone know where I can find some vids on Anji? I want to see what he has to offer me.
