Milln Posted March 30, 2013 Author Posted March 30, 2013 Persona is Saturday. Stream is tba. You can try googling it. They used twitch.tv/sixfortyfive for kof
Jackie Chandler Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Final Round was the best fighting game experience I've had in my entire life. Great games, hype turnouts, and best of all, fantastic people. It was great to meet and hang out with so many awesome folks. I'm so glad I was able to use a substitute for my converter. Big thanks to Milln for driving the MTN crowd down and being himself, to Eshi for letting us stay at his house, and to Astaroth for letting me use his converter. Also to Klein, Mellis, and Star for being cool doods and chilling with me, to Zenosuke/Setsuna for letting us sleep in their hotel room the night we (thought we) got locked out of Eshi's, to Psykotic for the great Aigis advice, and to GreatReptar for running the BB side tourney. I'll definitely be making it to next year's, and hope everyone else and more will, too!
Pwnix Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I wish this was like Reddit so I could just 'upvote' your post. But, seeing as how I cannot, I will instead say that I'm really glad everything worked out. How did everyone do in their respective pools?
Klein Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Big shoutouts to Milln for being awesome, and making this whole trip possible. Ilu man. Shout outs to Jackie for not being homophobic, and adorable. You're a really awesome friend, and I love you too. Will discuss things and stuff later. Shout outs to WW2 joke weekend thanks to Mellis. You really are pretty I promise <3 Shout outs to fuckin' Star for being Star, and being fun to chill with as usual. I love you too, but you're outlawed from Ssf4 discussions. Much like how Jackie is outlawed from arithmetic. Shout outs to getting raped by top players in Gear, it was tons of fun. Speaking of, I want a salty runback with you Tad, double or nothing! Always good hanging out and playing with you, see ya Thursday. And Naimat of course, always a pleasure to see you as a friend, and see you grow as a player, which ALL of TN has been doing. Respect to all of you, and lots of it. Shouts to BlueLink playin' Suguri with us, we love the competition like Ohio and VSAV. Shout outs to Ohio and VSAV, lol. Shouts to friggin' Bama players kickin' ass and taking names in this funny game called Guilty Gear, keep up the good work guys. <3 Last I can think of, and not least at all. A biiig shout out to Eshi, Wes, and Eshi's boyfriend for being awesome, friendly people, housing us, and playing games with us. You guys are awesome, and I hope your man gets the chandelier fixed nice and clean Eshi!
LastStarSaviour Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Oh boy shout-outs. Man there's so many to give I can't even begin to think of where to start. Shout-outs to Milln for not only getting us up there, but making this such an interesting travel experience. I'm really looking forward to doing something like this again in the future. Also, thanks for asking me questions about Under-Night. While I do wish they were about Yuzuriha, i'll be sure to learn more about everyone to help answer any other questions best I can. Shout-outs to Jackie for being Chandler and for providing me with laughs and such. Also, good shit in the Persona tournament. You may not have made it out of pools, but you bodied almost everyone I saw you play. Just a few more match-ups we have to work on with you and you'll be golden. Shout-outs to Klein. Much love my friend. It's always fun listening to you talk whether it's about molesting Jackie or talking about Guilty Gear. Always interesting to hear you talk about Slayer and the 1frame supers. I'm looking forward to that avatar Shout-outs to Mellis. You were really cool to listen to with all of the various forms of knowledge you had on game mechanics, marketing practices, etc. Also, thank you for helping me come to terms with who my waifu is and explaining to me what kind of commitment waifu life is. Looking forward to going 60% waifu-life Shout-outs to Eshi. Thanks so much for housing us. You saved us a crap-load of money and you were very hospitable to boot. That in addition to being just an all-around awesome guy to hang with, made this housing experience so legit. Shout-outs to Setsuna. We talk all the time on Skype and to meet you in person was such an awkward, but godlike feeling for me. Also, thanks for letting us crash at your hotel room and for going out and walking around and whatnot with me. Was awesome. Shout-outs to Shinsyn. Man, it was great being able to play you offline. After all the time we've spent online it was fun playing face-to-face. Shout-outs to Axis. You kept this entire trip hilarious as hell and seeing you drunk was priceless. You're like a vital piece of luggage that no one could ever forget to pack when they're about to go on a trip. Much like Jackie. You drunk is something no one shold ever miss dude, lol. Shout-outs to TectalEastSide. Props for coming out to your first tournament/major. Can't wait to see how you do later on down the road and congrats for not only doing well in BB, but placing 2nd by bodying Ivysaur free. Stay godlike with the Labrys my friend. Shout-outs to Miller. Thanks for helping me level up in the Yosuke match-up and for telling me a few things I can do in the match-up, it was really appreciated and thanks for playing Chaos Code with me. The game's awesome. Shout-outs to Naimat. You know it's always fun to hang out with you and talk about racoons with tits. Can't wait til CP or another game gets played by us all so that we can finally start playing each other again. We've been seperated by the Persona/Guilty Gear divide for too long. Shout-outs to Tad. We need to play more Vampire and Persona now that you're on PSN. While the times you may be available may be during most of my work-nights, i'm looking forward to playing with you on my days off. Glad to hear that your schedule's loosening its grip a bit so you'll be able to join us at more of our locals. I've missed you bro. Shout-outs to all of the various people I met this weekend. It was quite the experience running into you all. Special shout-outs to all those who helped me level up my game this weekend (Miller, ChaosNinja, Axis, LK, etc...). I'm going to level up to an even greater extent and next time, I will make top 8, I promise that. Lastly, shout-outs to Final Round. This is the BEST tournament experience i've had in my life and i'm looking forward to having even more.
Anne Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Shoutouts to Milln for being Milln and getting us around. Sorry to violate the sanctity of your car :x Shoutouts to Klein for touching my butt and holding my stick all weekend. We should do something sometime <3 Shoutouts to Jackie for smartly talking about videogames up to a certain point. You should look into some stuff deeper, and I'm gonna go fiddle with Mu and see what that's all about >.> Shoutouts to Star for Star logic and finally accepting his waifu. You are one amusing individual for sure >.< Shoutouts to Eshi and Skelly for housing us all weekend. You guys seriously rule, made the trip possible for most of us. Shoutouts to all the cool people on twitter I finally found (Axis, Shinsyn, Blue Link, etc.) and special shoutouts to Zen and Setsuna for putting up with us one night. You guys da best. Shoutouts to Naimate for contextualizing everything that happened at dinner the last night, and shoutouts to Tad for babysitting me when I kept wandering into the SF4 room. That was nerve wracking as hell. I don't do big shout out posts a lot because I'm super awkward sometimes, but you guys are awesome <3
Astaroth136 Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I don't do big shout out posts a lot because I'm super awkward sometimes, but you guys are awesome <3 Chandler and I have you beat in the awkward department. We've got 30-page messages on the matter. lol
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Shoutous to Eshi, MTN, and people I didn't get to meet. Turns out I'm going to be sticking around TN for a while yet. Though I probably won't be going to any meetups for awhile. Don't forget me. <3
Jackie Chandler Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 SPEED SHOUTOUTS GO. Milln for driving me and being Milln. Mellis for being super knowledgeable about games and stuff. Klein for nearing god status in GG. Star for being a 17th place bro. Astaroth for the converter and placing fantastically in Mahvel/SC. Uri for pulling off SMP loops in BB in a tournament setting. Volpe for being alive. Eshi for letting us stay at his place and also being a 17th place bro. Skeletal Minion for the balls of steel money match against Abegen. Tad for doing ridiculous Ky shit I've never seen in GG on stream. Naimat for talks about stuff and fun games in BB. Kyle for winning Vampire Savior. Cookeville for definitely showing up next year. >:3 Other non-TN peeps shoutouts in the Final Round thread.
AlexSanteria Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 So I just finished checking out the Injustice Demo. We may have to give it some consideration. It's pretty excellent.
Jackie Chandler Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 So I just finished checking out the Injustice Demo. We may have to give it some consideration. It's pretty excellent. Naimat was talking well about Injustice at Final Round, so I decided to look into it a bit. And I have to admit, it's pretty impressive. The idea of having interactive stages that function differently depending on which character you choose is really neat, albeit a difficult mechanic to judge from a balance perspective before the game is released. The combos seem to be a decent length from what I've seen - I'd probably compare them to GG combo length. One of the best aspects I've seen from the game so far, though, is the fact that you can view frame data from the move list. For the people who get into it competitively, I'm sure that'll be one of the most welcome additions, and I hope that becomes a standard for fighting games in the future.
M.i.E. Dax Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Shoutouts to everyone I didn't get to see at Final Round because I couldn't go. I love you guys! In other news, Memphis Bawse Battles II is on it's way. If you couldn't make it to MBB last year PLEASE try to come out. Shit's gonna be hype and hella fun. $200 pot bonus for Tekken Tag 2 and $100 bonuses for both SSF4 and Marvel 3. We're also having Guilty Gear and Persona which I'll be running, and I MAY be able to add pot bonuses for those games myself. The Facebook page is right here: http://www.facebook.com/events/547114771977671/ Milln! If you can make it down here I'm buying you Gus's. Jackie too, cuz he's that handsome.
Jackie Chandler Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 If there are anime games to play at it, count me in. I'm sure Accent Core +R will be out by then, and as long as there are other people playing it, I'll keep playing Persona myself. Also, it might be worth noting that Chronophantasma could be out by then - I'm not sure how many people are interested in it in MTN, but I'd love it if we all came together like we used to when CS1 was a thing, and play CP like that~. But yeah, thanks for the heads-up Dax~. I'll bring as many folks from the Cookeville crew as I can. Also, I totally wouldn't turn down free food. :3
Bane Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 So Minion and I keep running into a bug with Teddie's oil drum. Somehow, the oil drum won't stop going after a certain number of hits blocked, keeping the opponent in blockstun until he reaches the corner. It's the best thing ever. We think it has something to do with Asterius, but we don't know exactly what causes it.

We think it has something to do with Asterius, but we don't know exactly what causes it. Interesting. I haven't done any testing yet, but if I had to guess, I'd say it might be caused by having the eighth hit connect with Asterius and Shadow Labrys at the same time, thus causing the counter to jump from seven to nine. But because it's supposed to stop once it hits eight, well... :P Maaaaan, this would be the night I have a shit ton of homework.
Bane Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 That would be my guess, too, but it still seems janky for the programmers to use "if (hitCounter == 8)" rather than "if (hitCounter >= 8)." Maaaaan, this would be the night I have a shit ton of homework. Does this mean you won't be heading to Minion's dorm for some BB and P4A casuals tonight? :<

Does this mean you won't be heading to Minion's dorm for some BB and P4A casuals tonight? :< I agree, but since Shadow Labrys (and as such, Asterius) was one of the last additions to the arcade release, maybe programmers didn't think it'd be possible to surpass eight with the cast they had done at the time of programming Teddie. Assuming this is actually what it is, of course. And I'll try to get as much as I can done this afternoon so I can show up to Minion's dorm this evening, but I probably won't stay for long. I seriously have a bunch of homework, and it's all due tomorrow. D:
Bane Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 (edited) Just tested our theory. That is exactly how the bug works. If done with my back to the corner and I get the crossup asap, the barrel combos for over 4k, which can be combo'd into circus teddie :D It's silly. Edited April 3, 2013 by Bane

You should inform the Teddie section.
Milln Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 (edited) My MTNG Radio stuff will serve as all my forum Shoutouts. I'll have them Uploaded soon, I have to re-record them cause iPhone and iTunes are garbage. We are NOT going to Civil War on the 20th. At least I'm not. It's just way too close and I'd never get the days off for travel. Instead we'll do a MTNG monthly, how's that? =3 I'd like to do it at Kaos Theory, since we won't get kicked out after, can stay till forever, and has food both on site and close to the venue. Sound good? Guilty Gear and Persona; vote for other games if you want em. Klein and I checked travel prices to UFGT in May. It'd be like twelve dollars per head through Megabus for the whole trip. Wowowow Edited April 3, 2013 by Milln
Anne Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Yeah, so family trip where I get so see slightly significant other is the same weekend as UFGT T_T unless by some miracle I can see them AND my sister at another more convenient time, I'm kinda committed to that.
Milln Posted April 6, 2013 Author Posted April 6, 2013 (edited) Uhh.. Jackie or Star, please PM me the password for the MTNGNetwork youtube. I've gone and forgotten it. I've texted most of you the details, but we'll be having our MTNG monthly, since we can't go to Civil War. It'll be held at Kaos Theory on April 20th and will feature Guilty Gear, Persona, and probably one or two other games. The hype thing is we'll have TEAM TOURNAMENTS! State vs. State? 3v3? 5v5? Who knows! More details when I have them, but the fees are going to be the same that you're all used to. 10 venue, 5 entry. Don't forget to register for UFGT9, that happens in May. Edited April 6, 2013 by Milln
Jackie Chandler Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I've already told Milln, but unfortunately, I won't be able to make the tourney on the 20th. It sounds really stupid, I know, but I have to help out with a talent show for old people in my Aged in American Society class that day, and I need to be there from 4-7 pm (possibly later). I'd love to just skip it, but seeing how attendance and participation are 100 points of my 400 grade point total, I don't think it'd be worth the two to three letter grades. D: SO. The rest of Cookeville better kick ass, take names, and DP everybody in my stead at MTNG on the 20th. Best of luck you guys~.
Jackie Chandler Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Also, @UFGT, according to my parents: "Chicago? You want to go to Chicago? Chicago is the murder and crime capital of the United States! Don't register, you're not going." Jesus, and they wonder why I don't tell them these things in advance more often. In fairness, they said something similar about Final Round though, so I'll see what I can do.
