Milln Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 When I said that, it was much after your remarks. I'm aware that my twitter is checked.
Milln Posted September 18, 2013 Author Posted September 18, 2013 For something completely different. As we all know, Evo 2014 got announced: http://shoryuken.com/2013/09/15/evo-2014-announced-lvh-casino-xbox-360/ As of right now, is anyone planning to go, or are you going to wait for a game list to appear? Anyone have any hopes for what would be in the lineup?
Kyle Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 (edited) Just popping in to say that TN's Gear scene is like this: 1. Alphakami 2. Ponder/Klein 3. Niamat Anyone wanting to improve needs to grind against these guys as much as possible. They have good habits/reactions that come w/ solid play in gear. Anne has SHIT LOADS of potential. He understand his movements/run-away options well, but doesn't use these tools to limit the opponents approach, simultaneously dealing damage. - 3/4 screen 6S to stuff jumps (Set the yo-yo prior to this to maximize damage w/ a force break or a call-back into a combo) - 1/2 screen f.s into yo-yo to stuff ground approaches (I showed you this after our tourney match) - 6P to stuff (most) air dashes (Ask Niamat about the ranges this works at) - Air throws to punish the opponents sloppy air movement. (Ask Niamat about the ranges this works at) Jackie get's concepts and needs to stop trolling... same w/ Papster. Instead of gimmick'n your way for an entire win, plz try to have strong-solid play & gimmick one good mixup for 60% damage. Edited September 18, 2013 by Kyle
Jackie Chandler Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 For something completely different. I'm skeptical about my ability (and willingness) to attend. I'll need to see what games are on the lineup and how much it would cost before I make any commitments. TN's Gear scene is like this: 1. Alphakami 2. Ponder/Klein 3. Niamat Anyone wanting to improve needs to grind against these guys as much as possible. They have good habits/reactions that come w/ solid play in gear. Aside from the fact that this doesn't include Phil, I agree with this. :P Anne has SHIT LOADS of potential. He understand his movements/run-away options well, but doesn't use these tools to limit the opponents approach, simultaneously dealing damage. I also agree with this. Jackie get's concepts and needs to stop trolling... same w/ Papster. Instead of gimmick'n your way for an entire win, plz try to have strong-solid play & gimmick one good mixup for 60% damage. And I agree with thi- whoa whoa whoa, hold on. Asking me to take out my gimmicks to win is like asking me to take the Jackie Chandler out of Jackie Chandler. ... I'm kidding (partially). XD I know I need to level up my solid play a lot more. That's always been the case. I came across some great +R Ky videos recently, so I'm gonna look at those specifically and practice +R once it comes out stateside. And as far as developing my fundamentals goes, I really need to learn how to play neutral game better, and moderate my mixups (I tend to end all my blockstrings in a mixup, and that's not good). If I can do that, I think I can confidently say I've reached the next level. Thanks for the tips and praise, Kyle. :]
Kyle Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 (edited) Here's one example: You do wake-up Ride the Lightning. Low reward, high risk & a waste of resources. You could do wake-up VT-LJ~FRC and be safe while only spending 25% meter. =P You do have SOLID play (BB for example), The emphasis of the comment was for Papster, mostly. yeah, I forgot about Phil. >_> didn't see him this past weekend. But the intent of my original post was to praise some players. XD Edited September 18, 2013 by Kyle
Klein Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I laughed at no Phil in the list, BUT THAT'S WHAT HE GETS FOR ONLY TRAVELING TO ANIME CONS
Mr.Minionman Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Wasting meter for bad reasons is the Cookeville way of life. And yoooo Kyle!(or anyone else w/ input) What advice could you give me on Gear? I know I'm not a fundamentally strong player, but having flaws visible to others makes it easier to learn ^.^
Anne Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 (edited) Dawe thinks for believing in me Kyle. A lot of it is me just not understanding all the options people can approach me with me in Gear. I'm gonna try looking more to actually cover zones/distance instead of me being a derp and getting thrown into the corner. I just have a really hard time adjusting to all the wonky different things in Gear so I need to understand the game and characters a bit more to know what I need to be looking for. Edit: To be fair, I know how to fix this I just haven't seriously put the time into GG yet(cause lazy and Persona grinding). It would help me tenfold if online worked and I could get basic MU XP :S Edited September 19, 2013 by AnneIFrank

Eireprince Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I am also on the list of needing to know things, but I am just going to keep playing people. Surely stuff will start popping up and becoming natural.
The Katz Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 You do wake-up Ride the Lightning. Low reward, high risk & a waste of resources. You could do wake-up VT-LJ~FRC and be safe while only spending 25% meter. =P Unless you jump installed that you're going to get slapped in the mouth and lose 25% meter. Depends on if you want the punish to be in the air or not.
Alphakami Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Unless you jump installed that you're going to get slapped in the mouth and lose 25% meter. Depends on if you want the punish to be in the air or not. I don't see how the jump install changes that situation. It's really not safe to VT-LJ FRC, I'm pretty sure the entire cast can punish somehow before the LJ even starts up. It's work well though, despite in not being safe, because most wait for you to hit the ground to punish you. If you are installed, you can backdash away, but if you haven't been punished at that point, I find delayed j.S to be a great follow up after the FRC. It keeps you in if they are waiting for that grounded or low air punish, and often (counter) hits. Wait... how the fuck do you Jump Install a wake-up VT? Can that be done? That would be ahhhhsome. Klein, Ponder, and I are playing +R tomorrow night at 9 PM in Columbia. We play most every Thursday night. Come join us. Also, I'd put BoomCube up with Naimat and Klein, based on my AC experience. Fuck Phil, he ignores my text messages. <3 Is th
Kyle Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 (edited) @Minion: I feel like Faust's options are very influenced by distance & movement. Distance~! The moves you use are strictly dependent upon which range your opponent is at. Full screen = Items, Scal"pull", Drill-Cancel J.hs 3/4 screen = F.s into item, running f.s into item, Scal"pull", Drill-Cancel J.hs, stuff IAD's w/ 6P or 5K. 1/2 screen = 2HS CONFIRM CounterHit into Scal"pull", Punish IAD's w/ 6P or 5K. under 1/2 screen = poke w/ 5P or GTFO. People will usually jump-in and you have LOTS of good anti-airs, learn them. 2S, 2K, 5K, 6P & Air throw. Opponent's movement~!, intended path of direction. As items's fill the screen the opponent's will usually try to AVOID them making their movement that much more predictable. Just take note about how their movement changes based on which items appear and it helps you make reads on movement. This goes back to you using moves at correct spaces. As Faust, People will die trying to get in on you. @Anne: Your distance & Movement focus is VERY similar to Faust. Rather than random items, you get to pick how to dynamically change the screen, Your damage is less, but your ability to "run-away" is there. Full screen = do whatever yo-yo set/options you like & usually stall time. 3/4 screen = stuff jumps w/ 6S into damage. ("Sniping", feel like an FPS. LOL) 1/2 screen = stuff ground approaches w/ f.s or 2d. (get dmg). stop air approaches w/ air-throw, J.P. 6P or just avoiding a bad scenario. under 1/2 screen = This range is too complicated to summarize in one objective, =P. Options are VERY match-up heavy, here. 2P is USUALLY VERY STRONG here. Low risk, descent reward and options all around. As Bridget, people will die/time-out trying to catch you. @Tret: Your offense needs to be more consistant. Every hit should go into a knockdown w/ a mat and you should be running a "vortex" mixup behind rocket. All of these mixups should super cancel into punchy-punchy and net you lvl3 heat. Then you should have lvl3 heat-oki and they Die. Instant Block ALL DAY. Edited September 19, 2013 by Kyle

LuminAbyss Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I missed you guys too!! but I'm just a poor man! I need no sympathy!! I actually already have plans for Youmacon in October :C

That would be ahhhhsome. Yeah, to my knowledge almost everyone can without much effort. You mentioned that you can dash away if it's installed, which is a better alternative than j.S'ing down. I find it that more people wait for me to FRC and try to do a falling attack instead of wait for the ground punish. Also I could have sworn that I've done it before, but I don't know if you can do it on frame 1. I actually already have plans for Youmacon in October :C Yeah, I called dibs on him first. Maybe next time.

littlefang17 Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Yo, hey. No need to be racist. In case it wasn't obvious, jk. I'm not being racist, I'm just observing Lolz. So who wants to buy Chaos Code?
Anne Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 I'm not being racist, I'm just observing Lolz. So who wants to buy Chaos Code? Again a lot of us already have or have tried CC.
Papstr Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 TODAY IS THE DAY THAT I DROP MILLIA TO SUB LEVEL! Now I main Bridget and Bridget only! Mainly cause I got to level 400 on survival. Lost to black I-no...that bitch. I love Survival Mode. I got to like level 600 something the other day and kinda died because I kinda derped around and got bored. Plus it gets kinda stupid past level 500 because then all you fight is black characters with the golds popping up as daredevils.
AlexSanteria Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 So for Sol in Accent Core is there a good place for basic bread and butters? This is my first Guilty Gear.
Papstr Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 So for Sol in Accent Core is there a good place for basic bread and butters? This is my first Guilty Gear. Sol forums have a good combo thread. Although it talks +R, you can pretty much take anything there and copy it over to AC, just don't take combos that use 41236HS (Fafnir) in them. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?16181-R-Sol-Badguy-Combo-Thread-%28Updated-9-20-13%29 As for other stuff I can mention here: 5k 5s 2d 236k is a good basic midscreen combo that knocks down. for the most part your bnbs midscreen are gonna be [some kinda gatling shit] into 2D into bandit revolver (236k). If you wanna talk more damaging stuff, you wanna do sidewinder loop. The deal with Sidewinder is it has a property called a Clean Hit, which grants additional hitstun and a wallbounce when it connects properly. Each character has a specific Clean Hit hitbox that you have to punch with Sidewinder (air 236HS) the Wiki entry for Sol covers alot of stuff well too. http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=Sol_Badguy_%28GGACR%29 Again it's for +R, but a vast majority of stuff for him carries over easily between the two versions. A simple way to sidewinder loop is this: 623k command grab > jump forward j.S > sidewinder. the time in which you have to jump and start the j.s will change depending on the character's gravity etc. you just have to get a feel for it. It's not as complicated as it sounds, however. After the first sidewinder clean hits, you have a couple options. The idea is you're basically using normals as combo filler to sort of "line up" yourself to ensure you get the second clean hit. So the combo I use for example off wild throw goes like this: 623k > jump forward j.S > sidewinder > 2HS > jump forward j.S > sidewinder > j.S straight up > sidewinder > bandit revolver. After about 3 or so sidewinders you want to end the combo with a knock down. Usually done by bandit revolvering. Here's a diagram of all the cleanhit hixboxes of each character if you're curious, http://www.dustloop.com/guides/ggac/data/images/cleanhit/clean_hit_diagrams.html although the differences aren't as huge as you might think. I'm pretty awful at explaining things so I apologize if I've confused you further. Trying to just post bnbs for Sol is weird because the answer is basically "sidewinder loop." And the loop itself is kinda dynamic because how you go about it changes depending on the screen location and all that jazz. Here's a tutorial video by VR-Raiden that basically summarizes how it works. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lyl-gavEn0
