danceljoy Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 (edited) Thanks! I'll be editing again and OMG I FORGOT TO TYPE THE REASON FOR KY'S PUPPET-KINGIFICATION. THIS IS HORRIBLE I added this: In Ky Kiske's short story, it is revealed that he gave in into accepting the position as the puppet king for Illyria since the government already knows about his wife(who was pregnant that time) and could possibly use her as a hostage. I've already watched FMA, but I need info on where Alchemy is exactly shown in Guilty Gear and examples. *research* Edited July 5, 2011 by danceljoy
Suzaku Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Fullmetal Alchemist is extremely stylized, I wouldn't suggest relying on that as research source for alchemy. Guilty Gear's references to alchemy revolve almost entirely around A.B.A, and there's honestly not much to it, beyond what you find in her backstory. She's a homunculus and "lives in a flask", her home Frasco. The alchemist who created her is MIA.
Blade Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Well, what we know about A.B.A. is that she can absorb massive amounts of "Touki" or "Dark Energy" like a sponge. She's lost her arms and other limbs from time to time but can reattach them. This is the main reason Flament Nagel can tap into his potential fighting power with her, because she can withstand the amount of pressure he utilizes from her body.
danceljoy Posted July 7, 2011 Author Posted July 7, 2011 I like to include this info about ABA, but I'm not yet sure where to put it yet. *Sigh* I really wish that I could read Izuna and Valentine's short stories. I bet there's some crucial information there about the GG universe. I tried using online translators but all I get is crap. On the bright side, I got some crude facts from Sol and Ky's stories.
Blade Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 I'll translate those as soon as I get to that point in my GGR series.
prime Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 (edited) Here is my analysis on Magic, An enigmatic energy resource that contains infinite power close to omnipotence and knowledge that denies scientific impossibilities. It is information of unknown origin that shouldn’t be existing in the world which arose the theory of the Backyard. Scientists conclude that the Magic comes from the Backyard. The potential of Magic for technological progress and environmental ethics is further explored by numerous scientists around the globe. This marks the start of the Magic Technology which is far more superior and beneficial than any previous science technology or also known as the Black Technology. (See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOd1xbVe44w) Through various studies and decryption by scientists (just my assumption here, although it is not clearly proven), the information/knowledge within the Magic contains codes/passwords/programs to access/hack into the surface of the Backyard to manipulate (or possibly reprogram) the earth’s quantum physics, and draw forth different types of native elements which were also known by them as magic (different one); • Fire • Lightning • Void/Sky • Earth • Water The code/password from the Magic could possibly be in the form of arranged sequence of math/music-like annotations or chords. In Guilty Gear 2 Overture, the cast characters activate the power of magic by using various steps of code (chords/ music-like annotations), tuning and programming (possibly through their brainwork) and combines with their body strength or inner energy. (Shown when Ky dies from complete exhaustion after using a lightning magic to destroy a Megadeath class Gear in the alternate timeline.) Note: The above summaries is derived from the information hinted and discussed by Guilty Gear 2 Overture characters. It is still unknown what is the form of this Magic resources when it was discovered, who was the original founder and where was it found. To understand it better, Magic could be similar to The Cube (Transformers) which contains the power AllSpark as well as knowledge/information (shown in Transformers Revenge Of The Fallen in the part where the location of another source of Energon is recorded in Sam’s brain after he touches the sliver of the Cube) I will post my next analysis on the Backyard soon. danceljoy Posted August 28, 2011 Author Posted August 28, 2011 Actually this is a very informative article, and I might ask your permission to post some of it in the GG wiki. However this are my comments: 1. IMO Ky died with because of epic injuries, his breathing in the Drama CD sounds like he's coughing out his blood. 2. About the elements, can you elaborate on the Void/Sky and Water elements? I'm pretty sure nobody has yet to show water magic, but there's Dizzy's ice spike and that's water as well. 3. Also, in Sin's story it's revealed that the ability to use a magic element depends on one's genetic makeup. So Ky and Sin possibly can't use anything besides lighting. However, Dizzy can use various elements like fire, ice and gamma particles(light). Assuming that Dizzy is Sin's mom, there's a possibility that he can tap that potential but Sol already stated that Sin's power mostly comes from his father. 4. My theory is that opposes to Magic, Ki is actually healthy and improves physical capabilities opposed to Magic. This can explain how Kliff, who is 87 years old, can transform temporarily into his younger self.
prime Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 (edited) 1. IMO Ky died with because of epic injuries, his breathing in the Drama CD sounds like he's coughing out his blood. Is that so? my bad.. 2. About the elements, can you elaborate on the Void/Sky and Water elements? I'm pretty sure nobody has yet to show water magic, but there's Dizzy's ice spike and that's water as well. Dizzy ice spike can be counted as the water element, yes. Void/Sky elements can represents the spirits, thought and the power to connect to the quintessential creative energy of the world (in this case, gravity control for flight). This can also be seen when Justice is meditating before the fight, she was hovering.Dizzy is also hovering in battle. A warrior properly attuned to the Void can sense their surroundings and act without thinking, and without using their physical senses. 3. Assuming that Dizzy is Sin's mom, there's a possibility that he can tap that potential but Sol already stated that Sin's power mostly comes from his father. Yeah I forgot about this, my bad... Oh and don't forget that Ky is not limited to just lightning. He uses space/time distortion magic as well with Fuuraiken as the catalyst (I think) to seal Dizzy. So my point here is with the help of Fuuraiken, Ky can use Void/Sky elements as well (in this case, for space/time distortion effect he alter the time/material progression and energy). When using the help of Fuuraiken this possibility do exist but Ky may prefer to use lightning as he already have lots of skill and magic with lightning element and like you said, possibly due to his genetic makeup . Note: Void/Sky elements might not be the official name but I find this name to fit better with this kind of magic elements. Yes, you can post my analysis article to Guilty Gear Wiki if that can help GG fan. I'd be more than happy. Feel free to correct me again anything that is wrong. Edited August 28, 2011 by prime
danceljoy Posted August 28, 2011 Author Posted August 28, 2011 Void/Sky elements can represents the spirits, thought and the power to connect to the quintessential creative energy of the world (in this case, gravity control for flight). This can also be seen when Justice is meditating before the fight, she was hovering.Dizzy is also hovering in battle. A warrior properly attuned to the Void can sense their surroundings and act without thinking, and without using their physical senses. I don't consider those as elements, because elements should be physical substances with different chemical compositions. And the characters produce those elements out of nothing. If you were to ask me, super senses are either from enhanced and highly evolved body parts. And acting without thinking can be instinctive mechanisms programmed to Gears, or from a long time of harsh training. The manipulation of gravity is a different league. Until now, scientists have no actual facts on how gravity works. We know that large bodies attract smaller ones but we cannot explain why. Gravity is not a visible and tangible material, but it's a form of force. Characters also don't produce gravity, they can only manipulate its effects on their bodies or their projectiles.
prime Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Hmm.. I guess my analysis need revision. Thanks for the help. You can forget about that Void/Sky elements since it might be wrong. Don't forget to read my post again above you, i edited it again. Sorry still new to this forum so... Btw how did you do this " Originally Posted by prime " in that bubble. Seriously I don't know.
danceljoy Posted August 28, 2011 Author Posted August 28, 2011 Use the "Reply with Quote" Ky freezing time is not elemental so I don't think it has something to do with his genetic affinity. Also, Ky made a portal for Sin in Mission 15 so he has lots of magic up to his sleeve.
prime Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Did he made that portal? You mean that time when they tag team right? I thought both of them is suprised when the portal showed up.
danceljoy Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 Ky made it for Sin. Sin was surprised that his father isn't concerned about his own safety, but rather, his.
prime Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 currently doing research on the Backyard. Btw, your posts b4 mention that you're thinking abt doing research on ky and the assassins, if i'm not mistaken. Do you mean on their history?
danceljoy Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 I don't remember that... please refresh my memory.
prime Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I don't remember that... please refresh my memory. page 3 of this thread, posts no. 24.
Blade Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 So far your working theory is that magic is genetically tied to living entities on an elemental basis, however, realise that Gears are manufactured, they can be given any elemental property their maker chooses, even multiple or non-elemental properties as is the case with Testament who is a T-Class Humanoid Gear. Living natural organisms aren't bound to elemental magic either...Slayer and Izuna are such cases. A.B.A. has been known to wield Flame and Lightning elements in her attacks besides. The key here is understanding that certain elements are more difficult to control...Ky's prowess with Lightning is the main reason he was granted Thunderseal...not because the element was native to him. In Sol's case, he relies on his strength more than Fire magic, that's why he lost to Justice the first time they fought. It wasn't until he stole Fireseal that his abilities improved. Retroactively speaking, Ky lost the Thunderseal, yet his fencing skill with his customized Aquila can still relatively match Sol's.
prime Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Blade, if I may ask, In your article here: http://darkside-ky.deviantart.com/art/GGR-2156-2159-160506865?q=gallery%3Adarkside-ky%2F25793023&qo=7 , Ky kiske is born in 2159, right? and this one: http://darkside-ky.deviantart.com/art/GGR-2173X-168483752?q=gallery%3Adarkside-ky%2F25793023&qo=11 , Ky was made Captain at the age of sixteen in this year -->2173. Shouldn't it be Ky is 16 in 2175? Sorry, I'm just confused...
danceljoy Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 page 3 of this thread, posts no. 24. I'm planning a character/story analysis, not a magical one.
Blade Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 (edited) That's a discrepancy on my part (danceljoy pointed it out ages ago). Ky's age is an extrapolation from 2175 the year he was given the title of Commander and the Thunderseal (he was given the title at age 16, no other info was given)...as to how old he was when he met Sol...I can only guess at 13. In truth, he was given the title at 16, but we don't know for sure when this occured (most likely after Sol went AWOL). What's more there's a time gap between when he got the title and when Justice was actually sealed...so I guessed it was 2175, but since Sol went AWOL around 2173-74, he might have been 16 then. Sumimasendeshita! m- -m (Very sorry!) Edited August 30, 2011 by Blade
danceljoy Posted August 31, 2011 Author Posted August 31, 2011 Guilty Gear.ru put the Battle of Rome in 2173 and the sealing of Justice at 2175. It's safe to assume that Ky is 14 during the Battle of Rome and 16 at the sealing of Justice... maybe :P
prime Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) It's okay now, we, human make mistake as well right? Anyway, sorry for being late, been busy with preparation for Eid celebration. Here, my analysis on the Backyard: A superior dimension that defines the world’s and the universe’s law. It is a higher-order world where all information is suppressed/tuned into a high-density element. It is like a cyber dimension, a virtual reality that stores data and process it in a computer or internet (see question 46 of ‘Guilty Gear 2 Overture~ Material Collection~ 50 questions’). Magic is concluded to be made from this dimension which can explain the reason behind the knowledge/information contained within said energy resource (refer to my previous analysis on Magic). The immense pressure of the information’s density can break down the soul of anyone who enters this dimension (which automatically protects the Backyard from any intruders). Izuna’s home, the Underworld Hill, is one of the known place formed on the surface of the Backyard from collective of Izuna’s experiences and memories without him realizing it (see question 19 of ‘Guilty Gear 2 Overture~ Material Collection~ 50 questions’). That Man (aka the Gear Maker) seems to be knowledgeable about the Backyard better before anyone else as he has his own ‘trick’ to enter that dimension with ease. ‘Guilty Gear 2 Overture~ Material Collection~ 50 questions’: GG2-MaterialCollections-50Q.zip I will do the analysis on That Man soon. Edited September 1, 2011 by prime
Blade Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 I am currently under the working impression/theory that places like Underwood Hill (GG2), the Underworld (GGJ), and Slayer's home dimension (Makai, GGXXAC+), are all inadvertently linked to the Backyard...pretty sure Backyard comprises data not just from Earth, but whole Universes...like the Matrix on Meth.
danceljoy Posted September 2, 2011 Author Posted September 2, 2011 I agree with you. I think the backyard is like an epic CPU connected to many monitors.
prime Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 (edited) After a long delay, here is my analysis on That Man. To be honest, the best that I could come up with was just a PURE speculation. That Man’s role is still not clearly given by Daisuke Ishiwatari and remains a mystery (hopefully the next GG installment will make everything clear). Why is he so apologetic and seeking redemption in GGXX? Why did he help Sol and company in GG2 Overture? Why did he said Sol is also the World’s hope? (mentioned in Justice story mode in GGXX). I can only try the best I could to find which idea is more making sense to his overall involvement in GG series. Here goes: That Man The main antagonist and the mastermind behind the Gear Project. In his back-story in GG2 Overture, he hypothesized that there is a third party who interferes with the human evolution line set by God. This third party is marked as the ‘Apocalypse’. The ‘Apocalypse’ interferences on the evolution line cause the mysterious Missing Link(not the GG series) in the human’s evolution theory and a considerable amount of extinct species in the Missing Link. This hints That Man’s interests on the human’s evolution and the role of ‘Apocalypse’ (Well, he discusses this with Frederick for FIVE hours). In addition, the exploration/study on Magic & the Backyard might further encourage him. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That Man: "…..Men must become more than men, and Gears must become more than Gears. That is my true desire. Frederick...Don't die." (I-No ending 1, GGXX The Midnight Carnival) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ With the application of Magic, he creates the Gear Project for the sake of perfect Human Evolution (an evolution without the Missing Link and no extinction of species). Thus, his experiment on Frederick into Dragon-type Gear and Aria (possibly) into Justice. However, his plan failed as Justice brings destruction on mankind rather than evolution. This might be the cause for him to seek redemption for his sin as mentioned in GGXX (maybe by correcting and perfecting his plan on human evolution again OR prevent the destruction on mankind). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That Man: "One day the real battle will come...A menace will come to this planet that’ll make the Crusades seem like a dim memory." Sol: "So? So what?!" That Man: "We need a warrior...A warrior with a hundred years of experience and a vast knowledge of the ancient arts." Sol: "It's a little too late to butter me up now!" That Man: "Go ahead. Hate me. Your hatred builds up your power. Farewell for now, Frederick." Sol: "Son of a...! I swear upon my life...I'll get my revenge!" (Sol ending 1, GGXX The Midnight Carnival) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In GG2 Overture, there seems to be someone else with the role of ‘Apocalypse’, That Man named it/her the ‘Merciless Apocalypse’. This ‘Merciless Apocalypse’ could be the new menace mentioned by That Man above. The ‘Merciless Apocalypse’ and it/her illegitimate child, Valentine, cause a hindrance to his plan (if Valentine make a contact with the Cube, mankind would be destroyed). And so he ‘helps’/uses Sol to destroy Valentine. Here, That Man could be secretly preparing to fight against ‘Merciless Apocalypse’ and he is using/leading Sol for that cause. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That Man: "The time of Apocalypse draws near. Aria won’t wait any longer" (That Man’s mysterious remark in the last part, after the credit in GG2 Overture) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Note: It is unknown who is ‘Merciless Apocalypse’ and what are it/her intention. I assumed that the ‘Merciless Apocalypse’ holds the role of ‘Apocalypse’ only because of it/her name. And the only answer I couldn’t figure out was why That Man is among the Gears when the child Baiken is attacked? Once again, this article is just a speculation.
