dumba989 Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Hey guys, asking in advance to see if there's anyone the area that plays Xrd because I'll be shipping out for Basic in the Air Force on May 05 & once I'm done with that & have free time on weekends etc. I'd like to try in some casuals offline.
SkyKing Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Might try and plan a trip out to check otakucafe. Is it worth the drive? Hold off on it for now, since the scene here is pretty sporadic, and the shop is doing this mainly to gauge the turnouts here for the local players. If it's consistent enough, then maybe it'll be fruitful to come out with a few people. Ultra Arcade on the northside hosts an Anime FG night on Tuesdays mainly, but people do come out on the weekends to play.
Lüd Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Might try and plan a trip out to check otakucafe. Is it worth the drive? It depends. Ultra Arcade is where the better players are but finding anybody to actually play with is usually a crapshoot based on my experience. I've stayed there for hours and not had anybody even take a glance at me several times. At OtakuCafe you can usually get some casuals in with random people and some of the staff actually like playing a lot of the anime games and aren't too bad at some of them. (It completely depends on who's working that day.) I think OtakuCafe has a way better atmosphere, but there's not really a "scene" for Guilty Gear or BlazBlue there yet. For some bizarre reason there's almost always somebody playing Continuum Shift but people tend to ignore CPX. I don't get it, but it shows the interest is there. I think the newer games just need some promotion and this tournament should help. Like SkyKing said, this tournament is mainly to gauge interest. They do weekly Gundam and Smash tournaments that have a very nice turnout (especially Smash) but this BlazBlue one is their first time doing an actual fighting game. Why are button macros not allowed? I think they meant programmed combos, not ABC mapped to one button.
Mr Oso Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Interesting. Sounds like i should hold off on it then thanks for the info Sky/Lud. In any case any of yall folks going to TXSD? I just always think its funny that were all spread out like this so i never get much of a chance to play people from Houston-Austin-San Antonio very often.
SkyKing Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Not sure if I would be able to with the way the schedules are around the house.

SkyKing Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Late GGs to the people that came out on Sunday to play CPEX. I was happy to see some new faces that I haven't seen before, so I hope that this continues, even if it grows just an inch.
gli Posted May 5, 2015 Author Posted May 5, 2015 1st - gorilla 2nd - trick or treater 3rd - Yo I don't have this game yet Summary of the results lol.
Lüd Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Would there be enough interest for an Under Night In-Birth tournament?
Tacky Takeru Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 I'd go, but I'm pretty locked into working on Sundays : /
Lüd Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Since these seem like they're going to be regular things could we update the original post with this information? Putting Guilty Gear at Ultra can't hurt either.

gli Posted July 8, 2015 Author Posted July 8, 2015 Steam now has: Yatagarasu Battle Fantasia revised Grabbed both. Anyone want to play this at Ultra / RikRic?
SkyKing Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Heads up: There is a new arcade in town called Dreamonoids off of Guadalupe St. that does Anime Nights on Saturdays with their game selection and shows they have up on their TVs. I haven't been able to check out the place just yet, but I will at some point, and I want everyone to try to support all the arcades that are popping up now!
Lüd Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 I was planning to go to the new place this Saturday. I prefer RikRic, but I go to Ultra every now and then too because playing on Stream can be fun.
Scottie Yosh Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 ill be in sa saturday for san japan. lets weeb it up.
