Leonil_Requiem Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 That would make a lot of since about any character ArcadeFire, delay alters a lot of determining factors in fighting games. :U Who's a good lambda to watch in Extend? I see few but i know one placed high at SBO last season.

Arcade Fire87 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 That would make a lot of since about any character ArcadeFire, delay alters a lot of determining factors in fighting games. :U Who's a good lambda to watch in Extend? I see few but i know one placed high at SBO last season. Oh yeah, I understands lag hurts every player and character...It just feels so unforgiving since the neutral game from afar is Lambda's greatest strength. Her defense is a pretty big joke, just a super reversal, bad normals, bad pokes. She has her Counter Assault, but god it's awful. Her backdashes are great, but Lambda in the corner is lulzy. You see a lot of top Japanese players struggle and often lose once she's in the corner I honestly don't even know the point I'm trying to make, this is just a reality of online for every character, it's just a bit discouraging knowing how much easier it is to get in Lambda's defenses with all those missing frames from online connection; even 4 bar connection gives up a ton of reaction time available in offline play
Leonil_Requiem Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I'm just curious, are you working her oki? she's a mix up whore, capable of exploiting a lot of common muscle memory and poor blocking habits. Also, she's in no less of a defensive disadvantage as a player that does know how to block. :P Also with close 236A passing through opponents, getting away is as easy as connecting with a 2A and doing it. Also 2C being head invul helps a lot since some head only moves people use to pressure with will now consistently be stuffed.

Her oki is good, but it's not really what I'm talking about for online play affecting her. (I get it, every character is effected by online, I'm not saying it's just Lambda). Like I said, I'm very rusty, and I have my share of problems. I do mix it up but there's a lot I need to improve on, I feel like my bag of tricks gets predicatable after a few games. I'm just a little dissapointed how much more Lambda has to predict on online play than reacting. I'll never forget the world difference fighting Tager online v offline. Easier to break grabs, easy to IB his jabs, his sledge hammers, his kicks, easy to get away from. Online, jesus, I feel like Tagers land the luckiest hits. I barely took a hit offline in a bunch of games thanks to that awful matchup Lord Knight took me down town and crushed me, but I was happy to at least see how much better I could react with zoning and even blocking overheads and mixups. My execution was sloppy and needed improvement, my reaction time needed to get better, but I couldn't help but feel so happy that lag wasn't the cause for any mess ups. If I messsed up zoning it's because I didn't react correctly or just fucked up outright Basically, once ECS starts I'd like to play offline more, online is kind of a joke and it can only make you so good to a point : / Edited January 31, 2012 by Arcade Fire87
BeaverDeity Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 she's a mix up whore Agreed lol. Her mixup is ridiculously good
AchedSphinx Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Have you tried 2147D~C > IAD forward > j.B > 4B? Does about 4k damage off a 50/50 mixup. I agree with the online stuff. It get's really discouraging all the time with lag and whatnot. I feel I'm several times faster with Lambda offline with dashes, spacing, positioning, that sort of thing. Online, if I can't dash easily, because of lag, I lose the will to play. I should try to find a buddy at UNC-Charlotte to play. We could have a grand old time :D I think the most mortifying moments in online history is when a Tager does 720 and you know it's coming, but the game doesn't react to your action of jumping to avoid it so you eat the thing. Made me sad. On a side note, Lambda's mix up is good she just lacks some tools, such as a DP, a cross-up, and faster normals/pokes. 5A hitting low would be fun. Cool thing about Lambda is that she can augment her mix up with good zoning, so it's pretty fun when you do it successfully. 4B is just too godlike.
Overheat Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I have never heard of a 5A hitting low D: In regards to TK feint IAD mix-up (not really an IAD, but sounds better), I recommend doing 2 air normals, like j.B > j.C or j.2C > j.B. You can even do j.A's as well if it makes it easier.

Overheat Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 There are a lot of buffs they could give her, but I'd rather get a bunch of small proration buffs on her moves. They could do a lot of things, but as long as her neutral game stays strong, I think she's pretty decent the way she is.
toanenadiz Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 There are lots of games where people have standing lows as their 5A! :o Wouldn't making Lambda's 5A hit crouchers universally come before making it hit low?

I was doing it with just j.B and the 4B landing wouldn't combo into sometimes, so I'd have to delay the j.B a frame or two for it to connect. But if you do j.B > j.C into the combo I mentioned, I'm not sure if it will be 4k anymore. I'll have to test and see. Oh and I think I messed up what I meant, 5A hitting crouchers not being a low attack. My bad for the mistake lol.
someonewhodied Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 4B is just too godlike. Truth. I have a 5:1 Win ratio now with spamming 4B in high level rooms.
AchedSphinx Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 That's why I try to do the j.B > 4B combo because j.B has a P1 90 and 4B has a 65 P1, so you'll get a really damaging combo if it's done right. @Overheat, I can't seem to do j.B > j.C, after I do the 2147D~C into a forward dash mixup. Lambda doesn't finish the animation for j.C before hitting the ground. I did the testing on a crouching opponent, so that may be the reason since I think it's done usually if they're standing.
severin Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 if you're really low, just do airdash j.B j.A instead, you have to delay the j.A quite a bit though
AchedSphinx Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Tricky stuff. Since I've been practicing that 2147D~C into dash j.B, I've forgotten how to simply drop to the ground and go for 3C low lol. Sev, do you happen to upload any replays of your games? I'm kind of curious how you play since Evo.
M19Kamikaze Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 There are lots of games where people have standing lows as their 5A! :o *Coughcough*C Viper*coughcoughcough* I'd also like to see the great Severin's replays. God, I miss having a non-meter DP...
BeaverDeity Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 God, I miss having a non-meter DP... I miss those days. :c

Ryuujinx Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Hey guys, I'm going to go to my local arcade for some ranbats in a few hours. If you want to watch my terrible lambda get blown up, it might be streamed here- http://www.twitch.tv/arcadeufo

Those will get uploaded to youtube and nico. right, so I ended up mostly flailing around and playing very sloppily in general (also I went for way too much trm). iirc the results were (out of 11 played): Me vs Xie(platinum) 2-8 Me vs TheBiter(valk) 5-6 Me vs My-Key(carl) 7-4 Me vs OBaloney(tager) 11-0 :V I'll post the matches when Xie uploads them. Awesome stuff. Why you troll that Tager for lol? Anyways, surprised you did so well against valk and carl but not so hot against platinum. But it is Xie we're talking about and he has that mad mix-up, oki, shenanigans. I can't wait to see! :D
Ryuujinx Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 So, update on my video recording setup - I just got my tax return today, so I'll be buying all the parts on Friday, and getting them sometime next week. Hopefully nothing is DOA and I can start recording things as mentioned some 30 pages back.
HexaNoid Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 Good to hear, Ryuu. We'll start planning exactly how we want this whole video to look once we get confirmation that all of your equipment is working. Thanks again.
