On a happier note that has much less to do with my mother and felonies, don't forget we have Windy City Showdown Prime #4 coming up next week at Nickel City! If you play non-BB games and want to join the $10 brackets come on out, it's a great time, and it'd still be possible to get a BB bracket in there if I could be assured of 8+ people showing up.

The next time you get on xbox me and you should net play, I want you to kick my ass to get me ready for CSEX. I got the game about a week ago. Kappa :psyduck:

Man thats some bad stuff going bro, I'm glad that she's gonna be OK and I'll be praying for her to have a full and speedy recovery.

Money is mad tight for me since I still don't have my check. If I can make it to Windy City Showdown that would be great but with me getting my stuff back from MI to IL, its a stretch. I'll see what I can do.

I wish your mom the best Callisto.

On a happier note as well, my life is straightened out. Shoutouts to Arcknight for being a bro and checking up on me every once in a while. But yeah, it's Summer, and as much as I thought I'd be busy having fun, I've been having nothing to do this entire first week of Summer besides Driver's ed which ends this friday. What's in the future regarding meet-ups and what not?

I'm making it out to as many of these as I can before the Summer's up.

So far my summer is pretty busy but we are working on a meet up in July ATM. Which weekend, I'm not sure but if you play games other than BB, Nickel City has meet ups every Saturday night around 7PM. Once we all can figure out a date thats good for most/all of us, thats what we'll go with.

Definitely want us to stop using this caveat like that, if you play games, come to NC, if you bring a setup, booya BB will be played! It may take me a bit to make it around since I'm running the stream and try to play several games but I'll always get over for some matches eventually, and I see some interest growing in it from a few friends. I think post-EVO we'll be able to get a few new BB players in.

Well after EVO, the next big thing is going to be P4U, so far from what I'm getting from a lot of people, they are playing that when it comes out instead of BB. I have full intention to main P4U when it comes out but that doesn't mean BB will be forgotten. I want to see how well this game does with the guys @ Nickel City when it releases to see the size of a crowd we get from it.

I also would like to put it on stream one of those weekends if possible.

I'm all in for P4U, but as a BB player that entered the scene late I hope that P4U will also raise interest in BB to new players who have never played or dropped after CT

I'm going to keep it real with you here and tell you that is not going to happen.

From someone who is an influence and one who gains info on the move of the Airdasher side of the FGC, the flagship players are all moving from BlazBlue and pushing P4U as the new Flagship Airdashing fighting game. We as players have tried to make BlazBlue a fighting game that should be recognized in the mainstream but it did not go well with the community overall, it is still a game that gets pushed to the side due to lack of interest, low tourney turn out, and its presented itself in a way that doesn't appease to the mainstream even after having 4 iterations of the game, even though it had one of the most hype finals at EVO11

However, P4U is being looked at by more than just the BB and GG fanbase and its catching outside interest: So with that happening and P4U not having the issues BB had in the past and the way its presented doesn't weird off or sway away others from the game like BB did, we've decided to focus on P4U instead of BB. As an individual that does their best to push for the Airdasher FGC, i approvr of the move and support it 100% so I will be putting my main focus on P4U instead of BB.

BB is pretty much a dead game now and will be even moreso in August when P4U hits the states. Does this mean that I'm gonna stop playing BB? No. If my local community wants to continue playing BB then I will suport you guys fully but, I will not push/promote BB as I've done in the past, I will be putting all that effort into pushing P4U as the "Primary Airdasher in the US" That includes traveling to most if not all the midwest majors that has P4U in their roster and pushing the game there, and if it somehow gets into MLG, I'll be going to those too.

In the end, a lot of people are pushing toward P4U as that fighter and bb no more so for those who support airdashers in the community, this is our chance to have P4U hit the mainstream and STAY there to become that flagship airdasher thats supported so that the players have their right to shine like the other mainstream pros and the community to grow because of the support the game gets from the FGC.

Sorry for the wall of text but I wanted to explain it as thoroughly as possible.

As unlikely as Senxxi's hopes are, I would also like to see that happen. The reason being that I am probably the only person in the world that /yawns at P4U with 0 interest or intent to buy it or play it. From what I have heard of it it does not sound very impressive. Might as well wait for the new GG if I want to play a new game(never played GG sue me).

Also, using existing IPs to make a new game of another genre is just a "wtf?" for me personally. I have 0 ties to the Persona universe and do not really see any incentive in playing P4U. Yes I am the vast minority but there will always be someone in that group. Still waiting on Blazblue Beach Volleyball....

Also didn't sign petition because....meh.

Do not take this as me discouraging anyone from playing it. Feel free to your heart's content and enjoy it as much as you can. :)

Yeah never played a persona game, was close to but didnt have the money at the time, so i have little interest in P4U. But it seems that it is gaining in popularity and that makes me worried that it would overshadow GG. After all i do think Arc system works is only releasing GG to test the waters to see if people are still interested in the franchise.

That is actually a pretty logical conclusion to come to. Although I can see a lot of people hitting up a new GG since there a lot of diehard fans of it to this day.

I would, if I were to invest in a new fighter, possibly try out Under Night In-Birth(despite this HORRIBLE name). Even so, I am staying away from these things until they are released and there is competent feedback supporting them. As much as I love Arcana Heart, it is pretty hard to play since almost no one wants to play it(despite it being incredibly fast and fun).

GG is in the same boat as Street Fighter: Super Turbo; its a great game that's getting rehashed (ST to SF:HDR) but only the long lasting die-hard fans (and a few golden children) are going to stick around for it, and it will be in the same position it was before the rehash.

I'm not knocking the new GG by any means and I am hype that my childhood fighter is making a comeback but the comback isn't that big of a difference maker so the same thing is going to happen to. AC+R like it happened to AC+ before it and SF:HDR and SF:3SO.

I've never played a Persona game in my life (still havent and don't intend to) but I know a good fighter when I see one. I was gonna pass it up for the same reason you guys are but as I looked more into the game, the more interesting it became to me. Being involved with the competitive scene is a push for me as well since BB is dying fast, GG is thriving at a standstill, MB and AH both are on Life Support and UNIB isn't getting a US release (Says the rumor mill), P4U appears to be the game right now and I can see why.

I won't force the game on you guys but I will at least give it a shot (don't knock it unless you've tried it LOL); you never know unless you get your hands on it that is, if you don't see anything you're interested in on videos.

EDIT: Please sign the petition, It's not just about getting P4U into MLG, its showing MLG and Atlus that we as the airdasher portion of the FGC support the game and have big intentions for it. Please don't let your personal feeliings allow you to not take action on this, if you support the FGC, you should sign the petition.

Even if you aren't into playing P4U, there are others in the community you guys talk to and this might give these players a chance to thrive like other players that play SSFIV:AE, UMvC3, SCV and Tekken. This gives those who main airdashers a chance to get the recognition they deserve. Support your fellow Airdashing players by signing the petition in hopes that P4U will receive fair treatment at majors and open up greater possibilities for other Airdashers in the future.

Shin, believe me when I say I'M exactly on the same boat with you on that stand. I guess I shouldv'e been clear on my statement. I wasn't trying to start a BB revival of any sort I was just saying that after playing P4U people might pick up BB on the side and tinker around with it a bit. Like you mentioned though, I am all about P4U as being my main game, and promoting that game as the new flagship airdasher.

Also regarding that petition for MLG, I think some people are misinterpreting it as the FGC trying to sellout to MLG which is totally not the point. I think whether you like, dislike, or have no interest at all with MLG or P4U, as someone that supports the FGC you should sign the petition. It's all about promoting the game, and thats something you can't deny MLG is able to do. Just because it does get picked up by MLG, does not mean it won't be at the usual majors or anything. It's all about going into it with an open mind. I'm well aware of how people portray MLG with their FPS players, but it's all about growth. The more people that know about the game regardless of if they are good or bad, or if they care or not, is all that matters. Give the game a chance before you knock on it. Kind of like how SF4 brought back a revival of the genre. Yes there were a lot of new 09'ers on SRK, yes there was this huge growth in scrubby flowchart shit, yes a lot of people complained, yes the game was more accessible, but in the end it brought the genre back to life and gave us all another chance. P4U could be that game for the airdasher community so I'm all for supporting it.

Couple questions (im a fighting game community noob)

How popular is the P4U game so far? wouldn't it be another unpopular game like BB since it is an anime fighter and BB got knocked down for being to animey.

And wouldn't Skullgirls and UMVC3 also technically be air dashers since they both have air dashes in the game or is an air dasher fighting game characterized differently?

Posted

Ideally Arc just gives P4U terrible netcode, that way people are forced to play in person :eng101:

I think he was using 'airdasher' as a euphamism for 'anime' in this context, Marvel/SG definitely share mechanics with Arcys/Melty/etc but definitely separate fanbases a lot of the time.

Someone I netplay with suggested that a game probably needs terrible netcode to be popular. Like KoF for example. I don't think they are correlated so much as coincidental haha. :)

It's funny how innovation nowadays means going back to the old games.

I want P4U. This might be the impetus that gets me back into competitive FGs. God knows that my interest in BB died with Extend.

I'm gonna buy P4U even though my interest in it is quite low, I mean look at it. It's kinda like they mixed every character in BB and gave them a Nirvana or Ignis it fight with(spell check). I'm not saying it doesn't look good, just sorta sad BB is going to die out. Now I have to know about a series I have little interest in. My guess is that P4U is gonna be a one time thing, and then we'll have our last piece of the story line on BB. But nothing more (-_-,)

I think the reason anime poverty games dont get good hype is because well, its anime. Mainstream gamer sees anime and thinks " oh wow animu shit must have that creepy tentacles and only pedos play it."

Ok i may have have over exaggerated but i have noticed people avoid anime related stuff like the plague. Another reason probably has to do with art style. A lot of people wont play games if it has an anime artstyle. ( one thing that bugged me was when i read that people wont play skull girls, or Torchlight 2 because they are "anime" games. kinda funny since they use American art styles lol)

Well i feel like i gave my opinion on the matter..... unless you were asking a rhetorical question then i guess i just wasted space XD.............................

oh by the way seventyxxtimes7 i dont know if you have a ps2,psp, or ps3 but i highly recommend the disgaea series ( if you havent played it) to any one who loves anime, strategy rpgs, and comdey. great games with tons of replay value. so you get your bang for your buck.
