-Kid Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 (edited) Fistmaster, when using Ragna and playing against arakune, a few things to heed: - Always, always put arakune in stagger with 22C as a combo ender instead of HF. Although the oki is more powerful after a HF ender, arakune players tend to be really unpredictable on their wake up, especially if their scrubby. One wrong guess on their wake-up and you lose your offense, and you don't want them to escape. The exception to this is if you are gonna end the combo in the corner with 3C, then use the delay jump > landing j.C...which catches rolls and forces a neutral and forces a block. If a reversal comes out, kara cancel into a barrier block. Well, you could use HF if you want the heat I guess. - Dunno how good you are at blocking..but learn how to block, and don't DP so much. - 5D is unsafe on block, watch out for that as it's jump cancellable. - well spaced j.D is your friend in this match-up - Use 2A > 2C in pressure - learn when to burst, and don't just throw caution to the wind. Whether or not you win in this match-up boils down to whether or not you can adapt to the player's style and download him/her and whether or not you know what arakune is capable of in curse mode. You need to know how to deal with pre-curse arakune too. Can't have a fellow Ragna losing to an arakune now. Edited December 24, 2012 by -Kid
-Seo Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 ggs Darret and Ashes. I have no idea how to approach the arakune match-up as Makoto, so I just said fuck it and went Ragna, lol.
Adam0812 Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 I had to quit after dropping astral twice in a row mike
Darret_Wallace Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Looks like i'm a lot better with the kune ragna matchup than i thought, managed to hold my own vs seo, and Adam you just got salty after my tager pwned you. Also ashes when you read this, you played well, but your pressure was pretty predictable even though i kept getting hit by 6a, is that an overhead or something? anyway you'd have probably beat me a few times if you added grabs to your game.
-Kid Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Do you guys play on PSN? Only manage to catch Seo on at those legendary moments. I think he's mostly on XBOX
Adam0812 Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Not at the moment, I do have a ps3, but prefer playing on xbox. I will play there when CP comes out as I'll import the JP version
-Seo Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 I should really play on PS3 more honestly, considering I recently got a new stick for it. Like Adam, when CP hits, I'll import for PS3 this time around and probably just stick to that.
YukiBlue Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 As tempting as it sounds. I really couldn't justify the £150++ Price to play CP early. If it's PS3 exclusive, then maybe. maybe. But hell naw otherwise.
Fistmaster049 Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Kid, I usually find myself trying to air grab Kunes and usually ended up in failure sadly and I shall give those points a try then Thanks for the advice (Ragna Brofist)
-Seo Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Kid, I usually find myself trying to air grab Kunes and usually ended up in failure sadly Arakune j.B is too strong ;-;
Fistmaster049 Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Arakune j.B is too strong ;-; Every single time V_V
-Kid Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 *BroFist* Kune's j.B is the only time i'll allow you to use Inferno Divider. I approve.
Fistmaster049 Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 *BroFist* Kune's j.B is the only time i'll allow you to use Inferno Divider. I approve. Doesn't help that I can't instant block for beans lol
-Kid Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Then you know what you need to work on now Just takes practice + a bit of experience to learn how to IB other character's shit.
-Kid Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Want some games, Kid? I'd love some, but i can't play atm. The TV is in use. Maybe later?
HexaNoid Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Sure. I'll be on for the next few hours, so just drop me a message if you can get on.
Kujikawa Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Doesn't help that I can't instant block for beans lol Netplay. Instant Blocking. What a sad site to see.
Adam0812 Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Netplay. Instant Blocking. What a sad site to see. Tbh instant blocking requires you to preempt your opponents attacks. If you know what they're gonna do, I don't see why ib'ing online is any different from delaying a combo slightly to account for the slight input delay
InWithTheAshes Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 (edited) Thanks towards all that I played yesterday. "You played well." I disagree. Strongly. "Your pressure was very predictable." Indeed. Throws would be fine, yes. Also probably best to learn TK swallow as well, considering how effective it can be. Also need to time 22C better, dropped it almost every time. "Is that an overhead or some - thing?" No, 6A is actually mid. Perhaps you were just crouching rather than low blocking? It would still hit within that case. Thanks for the Guilty Kanashimi. Your largest problem seemed to be that you generally didn't completely capitalize on all of your hits. It would be best to learn some combos. Of course, thats... Slightly patronizing, coming from the Dizzy player who needs only two varieties of combo: Basic knockdown (Which I did.) and bubble loop (Which I didn't, because pad. However, now that I have a stick, they shall be learned.). Most of her damage comes from oki setups, which lead into more knockdown, which becomes more oki ect. The best way to play against Dizzy seems to be offensively. I don't really see her having any - thing for getting away from devensive situations aside from double air - dash, so I'm not entirely sure how I'd handle large pressure. Thankfully, one thing I've realized recently is that I can actually be O.K. at blocking (Just not at not getting hit ), but still, more pressure is generally helpful. Also, you did use some very unsafe things as over - heads (Bandit revolver and whatever Ky's over - head special is called.), however, once I started actually blocking (I said CAN be efficient at blocking, not will.), and, there - fore, punishing these things, you appeared to quickly realize just how completely risky they were, and stopped doing them. All in all, they were some fine matches. I would like to play you again some - time. Oh, and happy X - mas, everyone. Edited December 25, 2012 by InWithTheAshes
Kujikawa Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Are you an xbox player Ashes? I'll gladly give you some Platinum mirrors lol. I don't play the game much, but it would be interesting. Merry Fishmas to all, as well, hope you all have a good one!
InWithTheAshes Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Yup. Ask me if you want some games, although there probably won't be any today, seeing as people shall likely be around for holidays. Also will still probably be using the pad for Blaz Blue: The stick seems to work far better with Guilty than it, and Platinum doesn't require any negative edgeing/ hold - release. Still, perhaps I'll decide to try some Arakune/ Rachel/ Carl (Although I can do O.K. with the latter two's inputs with a pad.), at which point I shall probably also try to use the stick with it.
Adam0812 Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Considering you just got the game ashes, I thought you played decent, will def have to play some games in the gauntlet (1v1 first to 5 rounds) that way you can actually get into the game and get a feel for your opponent
