Starkaiser Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 SO far, my house have two different color controller, silver one and white one. I usually use white one that came with PS3 lighting FFXIII edition. But now that it broken, I notice that the silver one is very suck at fighting game. (it is very hard to move on the direction pad). I wonder if different color controller cause the different? or being the different controller itself make the different? Which color is best for fighting game? (softer/smoother in the direction pad)
Dagon Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Unless someone knows something I don't, as long as both controllers are the same ie. both sony, both dual-shock 3s, etc., color makes no difference. I'd expect one wore differently than the other assuming that they are otherwise the same.
Lumiere Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 The silver one doesn't suck. It's just less worn out, hence the (probably) harder to press directional buttons. Just keep using it for a while, you'll most likely get accustomed to its feel. Don't worry about colors or anything. Unless you feel like it is an absolute necessity to change.
CakeWasBannedd Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 white controllers are best for fighting games. but if you have a controller that is not white you can paint it white and it will work good with them.
Arrionso Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 The directional buttons probably haven't been used at all until now. Keep playing and you'll break them in eventually. Color plays no role here.
Star-Demon Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 The D-pad is a bastard. You break it in, and they age kinda strange. Eventually they get better, then at some point, they become a Club Controller. Probably after being mashed really hard (I play hard, so mine tend to go quicker) and sometimes they get thrown.
Starkaiser Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 white controllers are best for fighting games. but if you have a controller that is not white you can paint it white and it will work good with them. Why white is the best? Hmm.., so basically the controllers need to be used for awhile until it become good, and then by the time, it will be soon thrown out? :S
Aurelious Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I absolutely love the Sony Dualshock 3 PS3 controller. By far the most responsive pad there is (I've tried every off-brand since Sony's are like $60) and nothing comes close. I've never had a problem with "breaking them in" they work best right out of the box. The one I've had for 3 years is now becoming slightly off (doing a DP requires a 236236 rather than the 263 to ensure I get it off) but still. Could be something got into the dpad (while snacking, someone else using it, etc) and making it less responsive, but I've never had such an issue with mine (from both the PS2 and PS3 eras.) And I only play with the Black controller. Works just fine. Though I imagine silver is cool.
Kyosuke Kagami Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Dual Shock controllers have become worse and worse, d-pad wise, the more they "evolve". Nothing beats Saturn's d-pads
