You'll have all the characters after you complete Story Mode and money isn't hard to earn from normal play.---------------------------------------------------------------Story Mode:A really basic story mode compared to the previous titles of the series. Can complete in 5-7 hours easy. After beating it you'll have all characters and assists unlocked. Story Paths: [*]Naruto Arc (Default) > Unlocks Zabuza/Haku Arc [*]Shippuden Naruto Arc (Default) > Unlocks Kakashi Arc, Jiraiya Arc, and Gaara Arc [*]Sasuke Arc (Default) > Unlocks Itachi Arc [*]Jiraiya Arc > Unlocks Minato Arc [*]Gaara Arc > Unlocks Tobi Arc > Unlocks Killer Bee Arc Versus Mode: [*]Versus (1P vs CPU, 1P vs 2P, and CPU vs CPU) [*]Survival Mode (Battle through brackets of multiple characters, can be done with or without assists. Highly recommend doing without assists on.) [*]Tournament Mode (Battle through a tournament bracket against the CPU. Single Elim. Very easy mode. Really a waste of space as you only do 3-4 matches at best per challenge.) [*]Training Mode (New mode added into Generations, Standard Training Mode, nothing special.) Shop: [*]Purchase Ninja Tools, Avatars, Titles, and other stuff that you unlocked from playing the game. Online Mode: [*]Standard Ranked Mode (Normal ranked mode as in most fighters, pick your opponent.) [*]EX Ranked Mode (New mode added into Generations, allows custom ninja tool presets, and can exchange profile cards with others to get stronger assists.) [*]Player Match (Normal player match mode as in most fighters.) --------------------------------------------------------------- Combat Changes: [*]Knj aka Substitution is now on it's own bar instead of being tied to the super meter. No longer can someone mash the button to escape any combo free. You get four uses before the meter is used up. After that you have to take damage or wait a specific amount of time before it regenerates. [*]Tons of more Ninja Tools added. Really serves no benefit to normal play but can be a deciding factor on winning or losing in EX Ranked for what you have preset. Negatives: [*]Still highly unbalanced character roster. Except the same overuse of Kage Naruto, Pain, Killer Bee, Sasukes, exc. [*]Knj meter refills to fast. The meter helps the gameplay greatly for competition but still needs much work. [*]No reset button for Training Mode. Have to press start and pick the option on the menu. [*]Still the same old mash attack, dash cancel, hold up and mash attack, super style of combat. [*]Lars is removed from the game. Edited February 29, 2012 by Kurushii
Shiawase Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I'm going to pick up a copy once it gets to bargain-bin status. What changes to the fighting system have they made? The previous game wasn't too grand as far as the actual fighting goes.

The previous game wasn't too grand as far as the actual fighting goes. Knj now has it's own meter instead of being apart of the energy meter and being abused to all hell. You can do 4 knj's before the meter runs out. After that you have to take damage for it to fill back up. From what I saw in videos is that a average combo will restore about 20% of the meter so not enough to give someone a free escape at the ender. Also Training Mode was added so people can finally test things out. The total cast count is gigantic. It's mugen levels when it comes to the total amount of characters. My biggest problem with the previous game was the free KnJ since it made certain characters seem worthless. -shrug- Can you still call assists during hit or block stun?
Kurushii Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 Can you still call assists during hit or block stun? I don't know if that was changed. Ill try it out when I stream tonight.
Zephyrus Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I'll be getting this in March. Finally a training mode, so much stuff I wanted to try out with Tobi and other people before.
Kurushii Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 Tried it out and Assists are still callable during block/hit stun.
Kurushii Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 Completed all of Story Mode in about 6 hours skipping dialog and only watching movies. I could of did it much faster as I was rusty as hell till the end of it when Jourdal started telling what I was forgetting to use in combos. Doing all the Story Mode will unlock all characters/assists. The Store in the game is gigantic with some high ass prices. It'll take a while to get everything in it. I had almost 900k by the time I finished Story Mode and their is stuff in the shop up to 50k a piece range. The Story Mode wasn't as good or long as the last game but i'm happy it wasn't. I don't think anyone wants to do the same events of the story again. Get it over with and focus on the fighting. Sadly it didn't even go into the war arc of the story. Training Mode is basic. Has what you need for this type of game. I did not find a way to reset position easily besides pressing Start and selecting the restart match option. Also didn't see a combo macro feature but I could of missed it. Overall the game feels like a more competitive version of the previous game. Better combat system, more characters, balancing, training mode, and extra online modes while stripping out a huge chunk of the Story Mode.
Xtra_Zero Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Is attack still "mash attack"? Please say no.
Kurushii Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 Is attack still "mash attack"? Please say no. mash circle > dash cancel > up + mash circle > super (60% Damage with half the cast) :/
Yggjrasil Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Obito and Haku are in this?! I am so buying this~
Xtra_Zero Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 mash circle > dash cancel > up + mash circle > super (60% Damage with half the cast) :/ gfd I'm glad KnJ is better (it only took them what, 8 games?) but imo the poor attack system has always been the biggest reason not to play this series :|
Kurushii Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 Updated the opening post. Should be good to go till something is worth noting.
Kiba Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Has anyone noticed these? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtndRh7n1uw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkAvnH_buGw
Grokbu Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Has anyone noticed these? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtndRh7n1uw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkAvnH_buGw In that first video, is it really a glitch in that you can perform jutsus under block stun, or is it simply that block stun is so short from certain attacks that you can attack during it?
Kiba Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 It is really a glitch. Characters shouldn't be able to go on the offense like that while they're blocking.
Grokbu Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 It is really a glitch. Ah, I see. Well that sucks.
Kiba Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Hopefully it will get addressed to CC2 so they can take care of the problem. This is usually one reason why I haven't been a fan of the NUNS series. However, if they can do that, I can see no reason for me not to fully enjoy the game. Of course, I will be rockin' ma boy Kiba, and my two ladies Temari and Tenten. As usual.
Kurushii Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 Yea it's just supers that can do it. If you release off block while you are in blockstun you will continue to block till a opening is available. You can mash attack all you want during blockstun and nothing will happen till a gap is in their string.
Ichipoo Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Wow I didn't know there was a Generations topic on DL. Have any of you guys checked/tested out sidestep combos? They're really worth checking out since you can chain a few things for no meter if your execution is on point.
